  • DSM activities have grown and matured over several years in Korea. KEPCO is currently offering some DSM programs in industrial, commercial, and residential customers such as rebate program in purchasing efficient measures. The systematic evaluation process of energy savings and peak reduction will be very important for deciding on the optimal investment of DSM activities in utilities in the future. In general, the estimation process of the potential savings of DSM activities include the determination of baseline electricity consumption, the instantaneous technical potential (ITP), the phased technical potential (PTP), the economic potential (EP), and the achievable potential (AP). The purpose of this article is to provide evaluation process of those DSM potential savings based on bottom-up approach and applicate to residential sector in Korea. In case study, ITP, EP are estimated to be respectively 21.5%, 5.7% of total energy consumption, and 4.1%, 2.5% of peak load in 2010.

  • As a fine-grained power gating method for achieving greater power savings, our approach takes advantage of the finite state machine with a datapath (FSMD) characteristic which shows sequential idleness among subcircuits. In an FSMD-based power gating, while only an active subcircuit is expected to be turned on, more subcircuits should be activated due to the power overhead. To reduce the number of missed opportunities for power savings, we deactivated some of the turned-on subcircuits by slowing the FSMD down and predicting its behavior. Our microprocessor experiments showed that the power savings are close to the upper bound.

  • This study examines differences in the household saving show significant differences according to the specific stage of family life cycle. 337 housewives in Taegu were interviewed by questionnaire. Analysing method employed are frequency, percentage and Chisquare test. Findings are as follows; 1) The average ratios of household saving show significant differences according to the specific stage of family life cycle. 2) Purposed of household savings had significant differences at each stage of the family life cycle. 3) Selections of financial goods did not have significant differences according to the sage of family life cycle . 4) Selections of financial goods had significant difference according to the purposed of household savings.

  • This paper presents the evaluaton procedures and the estimation model for DSM potential on commercial sector in Korea. In general, the evaluation process of the potential savings for DSM measures or programs consists of baseline electricity consumption forecast and potential evaluation such as technical potential(TP), economic potnetial(EP), and achievable potential(AP). A library of energy conservation measures applicable to each end-use or apparatus is developed, and energy savings and other factors are applied to the baseline demand estimates of consumption to produce potential savings estimates. The purpose of this paper is to establish the evaluation process of those DSM potential for commercial sector. In case study, we applied it to commercial sector for horizon years by end-use.

  • As one of the strategies to sustain the maximum output with the total minimum cost, huge plants worldwide, such as steel mills, refineries, petrochemical plants, and etc., may and will plan and implement the minimization of operating and maintenance costs for their own. This paper is to review the foreign cases of energy savings through lubrication improvements as one of the actions for that purpose and summarize their directions, and also to look at one such local test case.

  • Mutual savings banks have today met many difficulties because of various reasons. To overcome these difficulties, they have to change to be more customer centric and to adopt customer satisfaction management so that they can satisfy customers asking for diversified and professional service. This study aims to investigate the relationship between various dimensions of service quality and service performance such as customer satisfaction, customer trust, and repurchase intension. This study categorized service quality as interaction quality, outcome quality, and physical environment quality. Moreover, this study examined whether interest sensitivity and bank reputation had the moderating effects between service quality and service performance. The study results may provide practitioners and researchers in financial industry with some implications and guidelines for mutual savings banks' competitiveness.
