In this paper, an algorithm to compensate the distorted signals due to CT(Current Transformer) saturation is suggested. Firstly, WT(Wavelet Transform) is used to detect a start point and an end point of saturation. Filter banks which can be easily realized in real-time applications are employed in detecting CT saturation. Secondly, least-square curve fitting method is used to restore the distorted section of the secondary current. Fault simulations are performed on a power system model using EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program). A series of test results indicate that WT has superior detection accuracy and the proposed algorithm which shows very stable features under various levels of remanent flux is also satisfactory.

Real-time body detection has been researched actively. On the other hand, the detection rate of color distorted images is low because most existing detection methods use static skin color model. Therefore, this paper proposes a new method for detecting the skin color region using a gradient map and saturation features. The basic procedure of the proposed method sequentially consists of creating a gradient map, extracting a gradient feature of skin regions, noise removal using the saturation features of skin, creating a cluster for extraction regions, detecting skin regions using cluster information, and verifying the results. This method uses features other than the color to strengthen skin detection not affected by light, race, age, individual features, etc. The results of the detection rate showed that the proposed method is 10% or more higher than the traditional methods.
Background The aim of this study was to collect important data on the time of oxygen saturation change in relation to skin flap color alteration using non-invasive pulse oximetry to evaluate its ability to provide continuous monitoring of skin flap perfusion. Methods An experimental study on the monitoring of blood perfusion of 20 tube-island groin flaps of 10 male New Zealand rabbits was performed using pulse oximetry. The animals were randomly assigned to one of two groups representing a blockage of either arterial or venous blood flow. The oxygen saturation change and clinical color alteration were monitored from the beginning of vessel clamping until the saturation became undetectable. The result was analyzed by the t-test using SSPS ver. 10.0. Results The mean times from the vessel clamping until the saturation became undetectable were $20.19{\pm}2.13$ seconds and $74.91{\pm}10.57$ seconds for the artery and vein clamping groups, respectively. The mean time of the clinical alteration from the beginning of vein clamping was $34.5{\pm}11.72$ minutes, while the alteration in flaps with artery clamping could not be detected until 2.5 hours after clamping. Conclusions The use of neonate-type reusable flex sensor-pulse oximetry is objective and effective in early detection of arterial and vein blockage. It provides real-time data on vessel occlusion, which in turn will allow for early salvaging. The detection periods of both arterial occlusion and venous congestion are much earlier than the color alteration one may encounter clinically.

The Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HomePNA) 2.0 technology can establish a home network using existing in-home phone lines, which provides a channel rate of 4-32 Mbps. HomePNA 2.0 Medium Access Control(MAC) protocol adopts an IEEE 802.3 Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) access method, Quality of Service(QoS) algorithm, and Distributed Fair Priority Queuing(DFPQ) collision resolution algorithm. In this paper, we propose some mathematical models about the important elements of HomePNA 2.0 MAC protocol performance, which are Saturation Throughput, Packet Delay and Packet Jitter. Then, we present an overall performance analysis of HomePNA 2.0 MAC protocol along with simulations.
In this paper, an algorithm to compensate the distorted signals due to Current Transformer(CT) saturation is suggested, First, DWT which can be easily realized by filter banks in real-time applications is used to detect a start point and an end point of the saturation. Secondly, For enough Datas those need to use the least-square curve fitting method, the distorted current signal is compensated by the AR(autoregressive) model using the data during the previous healthy section until pick point of Saturation. Thirdly, the least-square curve fitting method is used to restore the distorted section of the secondary current. Finaly, this algorithm had a Hadware test using DSP board(TMS320C32) with Doble test device. DWT has superior detection accuracy and the proposed compensation algorithm which shows very stable features under various levels of remanent flux in the CT core is also satisfactory. And this algorithm is more correct than a previous algorithm which is only using the LSQ fitting method. Also it can be used as a MU involving the compensation function that acquires the second data from CT and PT.

This paper presents a simple and practical method which enables to prevent malfunction of protection relay due to differential current caused by one end CT saturation in case of external fault. This method uses difference of magnitude(instantaneous value) between the both end current just before the occurrence of differential current without a separate method to CT staturation detection. One end CT saturation is simulated by current transformer model using type-96 component and the presented method is verified by using EMTP MODELS with respect to internal and external fault with one end CT staturation. The presented method distinguished rightly bewteen external and internal fault with one end CT saturation. This information can be used to prevent malfunction of current differential protection relay in case of external fault. And this method is not affected by sampling rate and has no calculation burden, so it will be applicable to differential current protection relay with ease.
FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) radar system is widely used in autonomous driving and navigation applications due to its high detection capabilities independent of weather conditions and environments. However, radar signals can be easily contaminated by various noises such as speckle noise, receiver saturation, and multipath reflection, which can worsen sensing performance. To handle this problem, we propose a learning-free noise removal technique for radar to enhance detection performance. The proposed method leverages adaptive thresholding to remove speckle noise and receiver saturation, and wavelet transform to detect multipath reflection. After noise removal, the radar image is reconstructed with the geometric structure of the surrounding environments. We verify that our method effectively eliminated noise and can be applied to autonomous driving by improving the accuracy of odometry and place recognition.
In this paper, we present a shadow detection algorithm using the shadow features which appear in color images. Shadow regions have lower luminance and saturation than those of nearby regions, and is generally shown as dark colors. The regions are detected by means of analysing and applying their properties to images represented as the HSI color model. The proposed algorithm is consisted of two steps: at the first step, the candidate regions of shadow are found with using shadow features, and then, real shadow regions are detected only in candidate regions by using their information to reduce real objects and dark marks. The experimental results show that the algorithm is effective.
The present study proposes a system that can detect sleep-disordered breathing automatically using an air mattress and oxygen saturation. A thin air mattress was fabricated to reduce discomfort during sleep, and respiration signals were acquired. The system was configured to be synchronized with a polysomnography to receive signals simultaneously with other bio-signals. The present study has been conducted with nine adult male and female patients with sleep-disordered breathing, and sleep-disordered breathing events have been detected by applying the signals acquired from the subjects to the rule-based detection algorithm. The sensitivity and positive predictive values were found to evaluate the performance of the system, which are 91.4% and 89.7% for all events, respectively. The comparison of apnea hypopnea index(AHI) between the polysomnography and the proposed method showed squared R-value of 0.9. This study presents the possibility of detecting sleep-disordered breathing at hospitals or homes using the proposed system.
As part of a structural health monitoring system, the relative geometric relationship between a ship and bridge has been recognized as important for bridge authorities and ship owners to avoid ship-bridge collision. This study proposes a novel computer vision method for the real-time geometric parameter identification of moving ships based on a single shot multibox detector (SSD) by using transfer learning techniques and monocular vision. The identification framework consists of ship detection (coarse scale) and geometric parameter calculation (fine scale) modules. For the ship detection, the SSD, which is a deep learning algorithm, was employed and fine-tuned by ship image samples downloaded from the Internet to obtain the rectangle regions of interest in the coarse scale. Subsequently, for the geometric parameter calculation, an accurate ship contour is created using morphological operations within the saturation channel in hue, saturation, and value color space. Furthermore, a local coordinate system was constructed using projective geometry transformation to calculate the geometric parameters of ships, such as width, length, height, localization, and velocity. The application of the proposed method to in situ video images, obtained from cameras set on the girder of the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge above the shipping channel, confirmed the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the proposed method.
