  • We found that saturated water vapor pressure is the most dominant stress factor for the degradation phenomenon in the package for high-power phosphor-converted white light emitting diode (high power LED). Also, we proved that saturated water vapor pressure is effective acceleration stress of LED package degradation from an acceleration life test. Test conditions were $121^{\circ}C$, 100% R.H., and max. 168 h storage with and without 350 mA. The accelerating tests in both conditions cause optical power loss, reduction of spectrum intensity, device leakage current, and thermal resistance in the package. Also, dark brown color and pore induced by hygro-mechanical stress partially contribute to the degradation of LED package. From these results, we have known that the saturated water vapor pressure stress is adequate as the acceleration stress for shortening life test time of LED packages.

  • Transient fluid velocity and pressure fields in a pressurized water reactor (PWR) steam generator (SG) secondary side during the blowdown period of a feedwater line break (FWLB) accident were numerically simulated employing the saturated water flashing model. This model is based on the assumption that compressed water in the SG is saturated at the beginning and decompresses into the two-phase region where saturated vapor forms, creating a mixture of steam bubbles in water by bulk boiling. The numerical calculations were performed for two cases of which the outflow boundary conditions are different from each other; one is specified as the direct blowdown discharge to the atmosphere and the other is specified as the blowdown discharge to an extended calculation domain with atmospheric pressure on its boundary. The present simulation results obtained using the two different outflow boundary conditions were discussed through a comparison with the predictions using a simple non-flashing model neglecting the effects of phase change. In addition, the applicability of each of the non-flashing water discharge and saturated water flashing models for the confirmatory assessments of new SG designs was examined.

  • The characteristics of liquefied butane spray are expected to be different from conventional diesel fuel spray, because a kind of flash boiling spray is expected when the back pressure is below the saturated vapor pressure of the butane(0.23MPa at 298K). The ambient pressure was held at a pressure above(0.37MPa) and below(0.15MPa) the fuel vapor pressure. The axial velocities, radial velocities, and size distributions in butane sprays were measured with PDPA(Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer) system. The PDPA measurement showed a smaller SMD at the 0.15MPa chamber pressure, compared to the 0.37MPa case. Log-hyperbolic density function for the droplets size distribution can be fitted to the experimental results of a liquefied butane spray.

  • In this study, it was examined the method to estimate equilibrium moisture content(EMC) at high vapor pressures and high temperatures above $100^{\circ}C$. The material used for the experiment was Sugi(Cryptomeria japonica). EMC was investigated at temperatures ranging from $100^{\circ}C$ to $160^{\circ}C$ and under saturated vapor pressures above 1 atm. The correlation between temperatures and vapor pressures have a good agreement with those observed by thermocouple and pressure gauge in the air state of autoclave, respectively. A sensitivity of quartz spring was 65mm/g. Moisture content(MC)s calculated from the quartz spring elongation by vapor sorption showed a good agreement with MCs by oven-dried method. Using this system, it was found that EMC at high vapor pressures and high temperatures above $100^{\circ}C$ were higher than EMC of wood in 1 atm pressure conditions. With this system, therefore, it was concluded that the EMCs of wood and wood-based materials at high temperatures were able to be evaluated.

  • This paper analyzes the distribution of water vapor pressure and relative humidity in complex terrains by collecting weather observation data at 6 locations in the valley in Jungdae-ri, Ganjeon-myeon, Gurye-gun, Jeolla South Province and 14 locations in Akyang-myeon, Hadong-gun, Gyeongsang South Province, which form a single drainage basin in rural and mountainous regions. Previously estimated water vapor pressure used in the early warning system for agrometeorological hazard and actual water vapor pressure arrived at using the temperature and humidity that were measured at the highest density (1.5 m above ground) at every hour in the valley of Jungdae-ri between 19 December 2014 and 23 November 2015 and in the valley of Akyang between 15 August 2012 and 18 August 2013 were compared. The altitude-specific gradient of the observed water vapor pressure varied with different hours of the day and the difference in water vapor pressure between high and low altitudes increased in the night. The hourly variations in the water vapor pressure in the weather stations of the valley of Akyang with various topographic and ground conditions were caused by factors other than altitude. From the observed data of the study area, a coefficient that adj usts the variation in the water vapor pressure according to the specific difference in altitude and estimates it closer to the actual measured level was derived. Relative humidity was simulated as water vapor pressure estimated against the saturated water vapor pressure, thus, confirming that errors were further reduced using the derived coefficient than with the previous method that was used in the early warning system.

  • In numerical analysis on the thermal performance of the heat exchanger with phase change fluids, the numerical values of thermodynamic properties are needed. But the steam table should be modeled properly as the direct use of thermodynamic properties of the steam table is impossible. In this study the function approximation characteristics of neural networks was used in modeling the saturated vapor region of refrigerant R12. The neural network consists of one input layer with one node, two hidden layers with 10 and 20 nodes each and one output layer with 7 nodes. Input can be both saturation temperature and saturation pressure and two cases were examined. The proposed model gives percentage error of ${\pm}$0.005% for enthalpy and entropy, ${\pm}$0.02% for specific volume and ${\pm}$0.02% for saturation pressure and saturation temperature except several points. From this results neural network could be a powerful method in function approximation of saturated vapor region of R12.

  • Reduced pressure evaporation applies the principle of lowering water's boiling point by reducing the pressure. It uses the relation between temperature and pressure to reduce energy consumption needed for elevating temperature. As the result, the highest evaporation was observed at $80^{\circ}C$ and -40 cmHg applying saturated vapor pressure depending on different seawater temperature. It was found that the higher concentration in the factor test experiment depending on seawater concentration induced the higher evaporation. Also, in the factor test experiment, the amount of evaporation increased as the pressure decreased. It is concluded that the most important factor of evaporation was concentration, the second important factor was temperature, and the least important factor was pressure. Through this experiment, optimized conditions of desalination with reduced pressure evaporation device were verified.

  • Al2O3 thin films were deposited on Si-wafer (100) using organo-aluminum compounds at low pressure by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method. The vapor of the organo-metallic precursor was carried by pure N2 gas. The deposition rate increased and then saturated as Tsub increased with increasing the AIP flow rate. The main contamination didn't found in deposited films except carbon. The H-O(H2O) IR absorption band decreased in intensity as the deposition temperature increased, and completely disappeared through annealing.

  • This study presents a numerical simulation investigating hydrodynamic characteristics of high-temperature hydrocarbon aviation fuel injected through a plain orifice injector. The analysis encompassed the temperature range up to the critical point, and the obtained results were compared with prior experimental observations. The analysis unveiled that the injector's exit pressure remains equivalent to the ambient pressure when the fuel injection temperature is below the boiling point. However, when the fuel temperature surpasses the boiling point, the exit pressure of the injector transitions to the saturated vapor pressure corresponding to the fuel injection temperature. Consequently, the exit pressure of the injector increases in tandem with the rapid increase of the saturation vapor pressure due to escalating fuel temperatures. This rise in the exit pressure necessitates a proportional increase in fuel injection pressure to ensure a fixed fuel mass flow rate. Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the discharge coefficient obtained by applying the exit pressure instead of the ambient pressure did exhibit no decrease, but rather was maintained at a nearly constant value, comparable to its level below the boiling point.

  • The evaporation process of multi-component fuel is different from one of a single component, because the properties of each component affects among the components. In actual engine, the spatial distribution of fuel vapor concentration dominates auto-ignition and initial combustion, and depends on the volatility and diffusivity of each component fuel contained in the multi-component fuel. Then, this study proposes a simplified numerical scheme for analysis of evaporation process of multi-component fuel sprays. Evaporation process is calculated by KIVA-II code based on the simple two-phases region that is approximated by modified saturated liquid-vapor line, which was obtained by connecting the 50% distillation temperature for each component under several pressure fields. Consequently, it can be quantitatively simulated that vapor of low boiling fuel component mostly exists around nozzle and spray tip region, the high boiling duel component, on the other hand, mostly appears near the spray tip.
