Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the factors related to the social distance toward older adults in nursing college students. Methods: The participants comprised 137 students in a nursing college. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires in March 2019. The measurement instruments included social distance scales, the Fact on Aging Quiz (FAQ I), a 20-item semantic differential scale (to assess attitudes), and the perceived elderly stigma scale. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and a multiple regression analysis. Results: The total score for social distance toward older adults was 3.98±0.54 out of a maximum of 5. Social distance had a statistically significant relationship with knowledge (r=.20, p=.022), attitudes toward older adults (r=-.31, p<.001), and elderly stigma (r=-.27 p=.008). The factors affecting social distance were education in geriatrics (β=.33, p=.004), grade (β=-.29, p=.014), attitudes (β=-.21, p=.018), academic major satisfaction (β=.19, p=.028), and knowledge (β=.15, p=.048); the explanatory power of the model was 34%. Conclusion: There is a need for departmental efforts that nursing students acquire correct knowledge about the life and health of the elderly with the aging process and develop positive attitudes toward older adults through various experiences in gerontological nursing practicum and community senior-college student link programs.
Cancer is still a threat to human beings. The incidence and mortality rate of cancer have been gradually increasing as the life span has been lengthened. Radiotherapy is one of the most commonly used treatments for cancer. This study explored the influence of social support and stress on sick role behavior of patients receiving radiotherapy for cancer. The subjects for this study were 60 patients undergoing radiotherapy for cancer, selected from the radiotherapy treatment unit of the out patient departments of two major medical centers in Jeonju. Data were collected from February 1 to 28, 1990 by a Likert Scale Questionnaire and an interview schedule designed by the inverstigator. Data analysis included percentages, mean and standard deviation, t or F-test, Pearson Correlation Coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results included the following : 1. Support came primarily from sons and daughters (90.1%) ; the type of support was primarily emotional support from friends(60.0%) ; informational support came from health personnel(81.7%) ; and material support was sons and daughters(40.0%) ; satisfaction with support was highest for the spouse(4.02$\pm$.52). 2. Among the patient's demographic status was occupation the was the only socioeconomic characteristic influencing sick role behavior (F=2.91 , p=.029). 3. Directly perveived support was positively correlated with sick role behavior (r=.2374, p=.034). 4. Stepwise multiple regression was used to determine the predictors of sick role behavior. Directly perceived support was the most significant predictor accounting for the hightest contribution to sick role behavior(5.6%). Directly perceived support. socioeconomic status, perceived stress and indirectly perceived support variables together, accounted for only 6.8% of sick role behavior.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships of self-esteem, resilience, and occupational self-efficacy among dental hygiene students. Data were collected a self reported structured questionnaire was administerd in convenience sample of 240 dental hygiene students and the final 208 participants participate. The survey included demographic factors, Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale, resilience scale of CD-RISC, occupational self-efficacy scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient. There were positive correlation both occupational self-efficacy, resilience toward self-esteem. Resilience was correlated positively with occupational self-efficacy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a dental hygienist curriculum and a comparative course program to improve self-esteem, major satisfaction and resilience in order to improve dental hygiene and student's occupational self-efficacy.

The propose of this study was to analyze the relationships among the levels of training & development evaluation (reaction, learning, transfer). The study has been conducted on 730 trainees who attended in the basic accounting program in L training and development institution through three incidents of tracked research such as reaction survey right after the conclusion of training, learning evaluation through test, and an evaluation of the transferability after 3 months of training. Questionnaires and test papers for analyses were used after their reliability, validity, difficulty, and discrimination have been verified on a pre-test. The research has been conducted for six months from 4 March 1996 to the end of August 1996, and data have been collected through direct research and survey through mail. The collected data have been worked on at SAS program for Windows with a statistical significance level of 5%. Statistical method that had been used was Pearson's correlation coefficient. The result and conclusion acquired from this study were as follows: Between reaction and learning, learning and transfer of training, only a weak positive correlation exists and explanation or prediction variance showing hierarchical relationship was quite weak with 1%. Thus, this research not only does not strongly support Kirkpatrick(1976)'s hierarchical model of $reaction{\rightarrow}learning{\rightarrow}transfer$, but also indicates that the separate measurement on each levels of training evaluation needs to be done. On the other hand, there was a relatively strong positive correlation between reaction and transfer of training. Based on the result, the conclusion, and the restriction perceived through this study, the following suggestions were made. 1. There is a need to empirically analyze and verify the hierarchy of all levels of training evaluation including the evaluation of the fourth level (result) such as organizational productivity, organizational satisfaction, and separation rate. 2. A great deal of efforts will be needed to systematically analyze what the relationships are among the methods measuring the level of evaluation of the training and development, and to apply this result to the training field.
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of family function and oral health concern on the oral health impact profile (OHIP) in the adolescents. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 368 middle school students in Gyeongnam from June 9 to 20, 2014. Except incomplete answers, 337 data were analyzed by frequency analysis, chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 20.0 program. The questionnaire consisted of eight questions of the general characteristics of the subjects, seventeen questions of family function, eleven questions of oral health concern, fourteen questions of oral health impact profile (OHIP)-14. Results: OHIP-14 was higher and it showed better oral health-related quality of life in lower grade, liberal parents' rearing attitude, and satisfaction with parent-child relationship. The family function and oral concern were significantly correlated with the OHIP-14. The influencing factors on the oral health-related quality of life are the family function of communication, oral concern of self oral care and food, and general characteristics. Conclusions: The oral health-related quality of life in the adolescents was affected by family function and oral health concern. It is very important and necessary to develop and apply the oral health promotion program including the family function in the adolescents.

The data collected were analysed using mean, standard deviation(SD), t-test, F-test, Duncan test and Pearson correlation coefficient, done with SAS. The results are as follows; 1. The mean of the respondents' perceived family function was 3.47, with emotional bonding at 3.61, acceptability and sharing at 3.61, participation at 3.23, negotiation and satisfaction at 3.24 and responsibility and expectation at 3.76. 2. The mean of the respondents' perceived depression was $17.53{\pm}8.76$. 3. There was significantly negative correlation between family function and depression(r=-0.4817, p=.0001). 4. Research variables included demographic characteristics and showed that subjects who were aged 65 years or older showed significantly lower scores in patient's perceived family function than those who were aged 45 years or below(p=.0502). Perceived family function of females respondents were significantly lower than males(p=.0026). The illiterate showed significantly lower scores than other groups(p=.0001). Respondents with spouse and extended family tended to show significantly higher scores than those who were living with spouse only or by themselves alone(p=.0091). Those who had higher income showed significantly higher scores than in the lower income group(p=.0001). 5. For family function regarding pain characteristics, those who reported severe pain-related daily activity impediments showed significantly lower scores in family function than others with less pain(p=.0357).
