  • The basic of the VSI charts is that if the sample statistic computed after a sample is taken shows some indication of a process change than the sampling interval before the next sample should be short otherwise long. This paper was shown the VSS chart can be considerably more efficient than the FSS chart and the effectiveness of VSI R chart with S chart used for monitoring a process standard deviation.

  • There are many studies related to imbalanced data in which the class distribution is highly skewed. To address the problem of imbalanced data, previous studies deal with resampling techniques which correct the skewness of the class distribution in each sampled subset by using under-sampling, over-sampling or hybrid-sampling such as SMOTE. Ensemble methods have also alleviated the problem of class imbalanced data. In this paper, we compare around a dozen algorithms that combine the ensemble methods and resampling techniques based on simulated data sets generated by the Backbone model, which can handle the imbalance rate. The results on various real imbalanced data sets are also presented to compare the effectiveness of algorithms. As a result, we highly recommend the resampling technique combining ensemble methods for imbalanced data in which the proportion of the minority class is less than 10%. We also find that each ensemble method has a well-matched sampling technique. The algorithms which combine bagging or random forest ensembles with random undersampling tend to perform well; however, the boosting ensemble appears to perform better with over-sampling. All ensemble methods combined with SMOTE outperform in most situations.

  • Applications of scaled telemanipulation into micro or nano world that shows many different features from directly human interfaced tools have been increased continuously. Here, we have to consider many aspects of scaling such as force, position, and impedance. For instance, what will be the possible range of force and position scaling with a specific level of performance and stability\ulcorner This knowledge of feasible staling region can be critical to human operator safety. In this paper, we show the upper bound of the product of force and position scaling and simulation results of 1DOF scaled system by using the Llewellyn's unconditional stability in continuous and discrete domain showing the effect of sampling rate.

  • The Fourier convolution algorithm is used to reconstruct a 34 density function from projection data sets. The convolved data are then back-projected to obtain a density function. There are several choices of the weighting function for the design of the reconstruction(deblurring) filter. Present Paper reviews the published reconstruction liters theoretically and proposes a new reconstructirm filter design method, considering the problems such as the effects of sampling rate, aliasing, and noise. Several previous reconstructirn filters are compared with the proposed filter by computer simulations.

  • Currently, the most important technology is the compression methods in the multimedia society. Audio files are rapidly propagated through internet. MP-3 is offered to CD tone quality in 128Kbps, but 64Kbps below tone quality is abruptly down and high bitrate. on the other hand, MPEG-II AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) is not compatible with MPEG-I, but AAC has a high compression ratio 1.4 better than MP-3. Especially, AAC has max. 7.1 channel and 96KHz sampling rate. In this paper, the perceptual model is dealt with 44.1KHz sampling rate for SMR(Signal to Masking Ratio)

  • This paper proposes a novel and efficient intelligent digital redesign technique for a Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy system. The term of intelligent digital redesign involves converting an existing analog fuzzy-model-based controller into an equivalent digital counterpart in the sense of state matching. In this paper, we suggest the discretization method based on the dual-rate sampling approximation is first proposed, and then attempt to globally match the states of the overall closed-loop TS fuzzy system with the pre-designed analog fuzzy-model-based controller and those with the digitally redesigned fuzzy-model-based controller. To show the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed method, a computer simulation is provided.

  • Displacement response is one of the important parameter to determine vibration characteristics of bridge structure. Reliable estimate of displacement response is obtained economically from integration of measured acceleration data in frequency domain. Proper sampling rate of frequency in discretization process of measured acceleration is proposed. Comparison of integrated and directly measured displacement response from laboratory experiment for a cantilever beam shows good agreement each other. Mode shape obtained from estimated displacement response also closely match with analytical result, thus the developed method is proved to be effective in practical use.

  • The purposes of this study were to determine the efficiency of using a badge-type diffusive sampler to measure formaldehyde concentrations indoors, and to evaluate the uncertainty associated with the use of data from a diffusive sampler. A diffusive sampler using 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (DNPH) reagent was found to be a suitable tool for measuring the formaldehyde concentration in an indoor environment. The agreement between results of the diffusive sampler and DNPH cartridge were good, showing a correlation coefficient of 0.996. The sampling rate for the diffusive sampler was calculated to be 1.428 L $hr^{-1}$, with a standard deviation of 0.084 L $hr^{-1}$. It was found through analysis that the uncertainty associated with the sampling rate and the mass of the formaldehyde transported into the diffusive sampler by diffusion was the dominant contributor to the total.

  • Compressive sensing is an emerging sampling technique which enables sampling a signal at a much lower rate than the Nyquist rate. In this paper, we propose a novel framework based on Kronecker compressive sensing that provides multi-resolution image reconstruction capability. By exploiting the relationship of the sensing matrices between low and high resolution images, the proposed method can reconstruct both high and low resolution images from a single measurement vector. Furthermore, post-processing using BM3D improves its recovery performance. The experimental results showed that the proposed scheme provides significant gains over the conventional framework with respect to the objective and subjective qualities.
