This study compared between tropospheric column ozone by applying the SAM method to TOMS and OMI data for northern summer. Tropospheric ozone from the SAM represents a peak over the tropical Atlantic, where it is related with biomass burning. This feature is also seen in the distribution of the model and CO. Additionally, enhancement of the SAM ozone over the Middle East, and South and North America agrees well with the model and CO distribution. However, the SAM results show more ozone than the model results over the northern hemisphere, especially the ocean (e.g. the North Pacific and the North Atlantic). The tropospheric ozone distribution from OMI data shows more ozone than that from TOMS data. This can be caused by different viewing angle, sampling frequency, and a-priori ozone profiles between OMI and TOMS. The correlation between the SAM tropospheric ozone and CO is better than that between the model and CO in the tropics. However, that correlation is reversed in the mid-latitude.
The key to model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) algorithms for transmission computed tomography lies in the ability to accurately model the data formation process from the emitted photons produced in the transmission source to the measured photons at the detector. Therefore, accurately modeling the system matrix that accounts for the data formation process is a prerequisite for MBIR-based algorithms. In this work we compared quantitative performance of the three representative ray-driven methods for calculating the system matrix; the ray-tracing method (RTM), the distance-driven method (DDM), and the strip-area based method (SAM). We implemented the ordered-subsets separable surrogates (OS-SPS) algorithm using the three different models and performed simulation studies using a digital phantom. Our experimental results show that, in spite of the more advanced features in the SAM and DDM, the traditional RTM implemented in the OS-SPS algorithm with an edge-preserving regularizer out-performs the SAM and DDM in restoring complex edges in the underlying object. The performance of the RTM in smooth regions was also comparable to that of the SAM or DDM.
This study compared the blood-brain barrier permeability of [$^3H$] taurine in senescence-accelerated mouse (SAM) and normal mouse with common carotid artery perfusion (CCAP) method and intravenous injection technique to establish a possible relation between aging and changes in tissue levels of taurine. The SAM strains show senescence acceleration and age-associated pathological phenotypes similar to geriatric disorders seen in humans. In the result of this experiments, the plasma clearance of [$^3H$]taurine in SAM was almost comparable with that of normal mice by intravenous injection technique, but the brain volume of distribution ($V_{D brain}$) of [$^3H$]taurine in SAM by CCAP method reduced by 85% compared with that in normal mice. These results suggest that aging may have an effect on the brain transport activity of taurine in disease state model animal.
As a sub-concept of corporate or organization governance, business governance and IT governance have become major research topics in academia. However, despite the importance of process as a construct for mediating the domain between business and information technology, research on process governance is relatively inadequate. Process Governance focuses on activities that link business strategy with IT system implementation and explains the creation of corporate core values. The researcher studied the basic conceptual governance models of political science, sociology, public administration, and classified governance styles into six categories. The researcher focused on the series of metamodels. For examples, the traditional Strategy Alignment Model(SAM) by Henderson and Venkatraman which is replaced by the neo-SAM model, organizational governance network model, sequential organization governance model, organization governance meta model, process governance CUBE model, COSO and process governance CUBE comparison model, and finally Process Governance Framework and etc. The Major difference between SAM and neo-SAM model is Process Governance domain inserted between Business Governance and IT Governance. Among several metamodels, Process Governance framework, the core conceptual model consists of four activity dimensions: strategic aligning, human empowering, competency enhancing, and autonomous organizing. The researcher designed five variables for each activity dimensions, totally twenty variables. Besides four activity dimensions, there are six driving forces for Process Governance cycle: De-normalizing power, micro-power, vitalizing power, self-organizing power, normalizing power and sense-making. With four activity dimensions and six driving powers, an organization can maintain the flexibility of process governance cycle to cope with internal and external environmental changes. This study aims to propose the Process Governance competency model and Process Governance variables. The situation of the industry is changing from the function-oriented organization management to the process-oriented perspective. Process Governance framework proposed by the researcher will be the contextual reference models for the further diffusion of the research on Process Governance domain and the operational definition for the development of Process Governance measurement tools in detail.

Saemaul Undong (SM U) initiated in Korea in the 1970's is widely acknowledged as a successful model for rural community development, despite its limitations. This paper investigates the success factors of the SMU model and the lessons thereof for Sam Sang Model of Lao PDR, which appears ineffective over the years. Results show that land reforms, social ties among villages, strong institutional support and leadership and incentive system as well as "top-down" and "bottom-up" development approaches are among the factors that significantly contributed to the success of the SMU. However, rural development program would not be effective if residents are unwilling to participate. Therefore, to successfully achieve rural community development in Lao PDR, the government should through the Sam Sang model employ top-down and bottom-up approaches to enhance local participation and address the exact needs of the local people.

This paper proposes a fast Fourier transform(FFT)-based spectral analysis method(SAM) for the dynamic responses of the linear discrete dynamic models with non-proportional damping. The SAM was developed by using discrete Fourier transform(DFT)-theory. To verify the proposed SAM, a three-DOF system with non-proportional viscous damping is considered as an illustrative example. The present SAM is evaluated by comparing the dynamic responses obtained by SAM with those obtained by Runge-Kutta method.
The convergence rate of a numerical procedure barred on Schwarz Alternating Method (SAM) for solving elliptic boundary value problems (BVP's) depends on the selection of the interface conditions applied on the interior boundaries of the overlapping subdomains. It hee been observed that the Robin condition(mixed interface condition), controlled by a parameter, can optimize SAM's convergence rate. Since the convergence rate is very sensitive to the parameter, Tang[17] suggested another interface condition called over-determined interface condition. Based on the over-determined interface condition, we formulate the two-layer multi-parameterized SAM. For the SAM and the one-dimensional elliptic model BVP's, we determine analytically the optimal values of the parameters. For the two-dimensional elliptic BVP's , we also formulate the two-layer multi-parameterized SAM and suggest a choice of multi-parameter to produce good convergence rate .
Nano adhesion between SPM (scanning probe microscope) tips and 075 (octadecyltrichlorosilane) SAM (self-assembled monolayer) was experimentally studied. Tests were performed to measure the nano adhesion and friction in both AFM(atomic force microscope) and LFM(lateral force microscope) modes in various conditions of relative humidity. OTS SAM was formed on Si-wafer (100) surfaces, and Si$_3$N$_4$ tips of different radius of curvature were used. When the surface was hydrophobic, the adhesion and friction forces were found lower than those of bare Si-wafer. Results also showed that micro-adhesion force increased as the relative humidity and the tip radius of curvature increased. The main parameter for affecting the micro-adhesion was found absorbed humidity on the contact surface. These results were discussed with the JKR model and a capillary force caused by absorbed water.
This research aims to find out the existence of considerable induced effect that the conventional I-O model cannot. First, we construct an environmental Social Accounting Matrix for Korea by combining statistics on the Korean GDP and I-O with physical data on the fossil energy consumption and $CO_2$ emissions. The impacts of productive activities on fossil energy consumption and $CO_2$ emissions are evaluated by calculating the e-SAM multipliers. By applying decomposition technique further, we get direct, indirect, and induced effects of production activities by industry. The result of decomposing the e-SAM shows that while the direct effect of the electricity industry is large, its indirect effect is very small. In the case of the primary metal industry, both the direct and the indirect influence of this industry were very large. On the contrary, in case of the service industry, the induced effect of fossil energy consumption was as high as 50% of the gross effect. These results suggest that different energy policies should be established for different industries. Also, the findings show the e-SAM model is better than I-O model in analyzing implications of policies on energy use in the economy.
