Objectives: A rapid increase in the population of migrant workers in Korea has brought new challenges regarding the possible effects of acculturation on health. The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of acculturation- and work-related psychosocial factors on work-related musculoskeletal disorders among migrant female workers living in Korea. Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was used. A translated, structured questionnaire was administrated to 156 southeastern Asian female full-time workers living in Korea. Results: About 35% of the participants experienced some type(s) of work-related musculoskeletal disorder(s), which were more prevalent in Vietnamese women than in Thai and Filipino women. Women who preferred to maintain their own heritage and to reject the host country heritage were at risk for work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Conclusion: Acculturation strategy and nationality were found to be significant factors associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Health professionals need to accommodate acculturation contexts into risk assessment and intervention development for work-related musculoskeletal disorders separately for different nationalities.
Currently, Korea is entering an aging society, causing the issues of older adults in a wide range of fields. This study focuses on the health and safety issues of the older adults. As a theoretical background, Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory was applied, and a new theory was established in connection with the physiological needs and safety needs of the 5 stages of desire in relation to the health and safety issues of the older adults. Health issues applying to physiological needs for the older adults are examined in detail in the body, perception and psychology areas, and safety accidents occurring indoors and outdoors are examined in relation to safety needs. Naver DataLab, a big data portal, shows that the number of bugs regarding health and safety of the older adults is steadily increasing. And through Google Trends, we can understand the interest setting up related search keyword about the older adults. According to the related search keywords, social part related to health in health issues is ranked high and kewords related to accident type in safety issues is ranked high. These findings will be an important basis data for research and solution to the issues of older adults.

As the domestic aviation industry grows, the aviation maintenance field is also growing rapidly. This change calls for more aircraft maintenance technicians, and interest in safety accidents is also increasing. Individual safety climate indicates the importance of safety in the organization. We expect that three individual factors (training effectiveness, procedure effectiveness, and work pressure) relate to safety behavior in the workplace via individual safety climate. The purpose of this research is investigating the relationship between individual factors and aircraft maintenance technician's safety behavior. Previous studies related to individual factors were examined for literature review. Based on the previous studies, research model was constructed. Hypothesis was verified by effected data from 305 samples were employed for final survey. The results show that individual factors were meaningful factors to effect perceived safety behavior, and safety knowledge & safety motivation were related to safety compliance & safety participation.
This study divided consumer food-related lifestyles into five types: health-oriented, convenience-oriented, safety-oriented, economics-oriented, and taste-oriented. According to this grouping, we separated the lifestyles into low-interest, safety and economics-oriented, taste-oriented, and high-interest. The results showed that the safety and economics-oriented group was the largest, whereas the taste-oriented group was the smallest. The results also showed that Korean food consumer behavior and satisfaction differed significantly among the groups, and that the high-interest food-related life group exhibited the highest satisfaction. This study is significant because it segmented the local Korean food market, applied food-related lifestyles, and examined submarket characteristics.
Background: Work Ability Index (WAI) is a well-known and valid self-report tool that has been widely used in various studies to identify and avoid early retirement and work-related disability. Nevertheless, very few studies have been carried out to evaluate work ability in Iran. We aimed to investigate the WAI and the effect of work-related stress on it among Iranian workers. Methods: A cross-sectional, descriptive and analytic study was carried out among 449 workers from five working sectors in three big cities of Iran. Work ability and work-related stress were measured using the Persian version of WAI and the Persian version of Health and Safety Executive Stress Indicator Tool. Results: More than a third of the workers surveyed (34.70%) did not have an appropriate level of work ability (WAI < 37). There was a significant correlation between subscales of work-related stress and the mean score of WAI. Furthermore, the variables of body mass index, sleep quality, exercise activity, job tenure, and three subscales of work-related stress including demands, supervisor support, and role were significant predictors of WAI. Conclusion: According to the results of this study, the interventional programs must be focused on improving supervisors support, eliminating ambiguity and conflicts in the role of workers in their job and organization, reducing job demands, improving sleep quality, and increasing exercise activity.

This study practically analyzed the relationships of safety awareness and safety practice of the day-care teacher according to the presence of CCTV and in particular, made a practical analysis about whether safety awareness have mediation effects in the relationship between presence of CCTV and safety practice. As a result of T-test analysis, safety awareness and safety practice of the day-care teacher according to the presence of CCTV is different that has been verified. As a result of regression analysis, safety awareness were positively related to safety practice. That is to say, even the mediation effects that the presence of CCTV through safety awareness related to safety practice were verified. As a result, it was concluded that safety awareness factors didn't play mediator roles between presence of CCTV and safety practice.
As modern industrial technologies progress, critical incidents (both conventional and new) occur as well. Although majority of these safety incidents are human-related, or human factors problems, industrial systems and/or occupational safety operations are often designed without seriously considering important roles of human factors in industrial safety. The purpose of this paper is to show how a human factors approach can contribute to industrial safety. The paper introduces a systems safety concept with some useful analysis techniques for proactively preventing human-related safety problems. A behavior-based safety analysis approach to modify hyman behavior is suggested to reduce unsafe behavior and promote safe behavior. Finally, a sound human factors/ergonomics program is recommended for management to establish a hazard-free work environment. Some current and future research issues are discussed.
Objectives Studies on Chinese herbal injections are increasing. But, its safety are still not well reported. We have reviewed the literature related to the safety of Chinese herbal injection, especially those related to anaphylaxis. Methods The PubMed database was used to select the literatures related to anaphylaxis in China and to study the quality control and safety of Chinese herbal injection. Results Chinese herbal injection is a major traditional medical treatment in China, but it is the cause of adverse drug reactions including anaphylaxis. In order to solve this problem, various proposals have been made to identify the pharmacological and chemical causes of major side effects and to use them safely clinically. In addition, various researches have been conducted from preclinical to postmarketing surveillance to secure the safety of Chinese herbal injection. Based on this, it was found that various efforts are needed to secure the safety of bee sting needles. Conclusion In order to secure the safety of chinese herbal injections, it is necessary to identify the main mechanism of action and the pharmacological components contributing to it, and to develop a standardized formulation based on this. In addition, institutional pharmacovigilance is required.
Background: Workers are often exposed to hazardous heat due to their work environment, leading to various injuries. As a result of climate change, heat-related injuries (HRIs) are becoming more problematic. This study aims to identify critical contributing factors to the severity of occupational HRIs. Methods: This study analyzed historical injury reports from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Contributing factors to the severity of HRIs were identified using text mining and model-free machine learning methods. The Multinomial Logit Model (MNL) was applied to explore the relationship between impact factors and the severity of HRIs. Results: The results indicated a higher risk of fatal HRIs among middle-aged, older, and male workers, particularly in the construction, service, manufacturing, and agriculture industries. In addition, a higher heat index, collapses, heart attacks, and fall accidents increased the severity of HRIs, while symptoms such as dehydration, dizziness, cramps, faintness, and vomiting reduced the likelihood of fatal HRIs. Conclusions: The severity of HRIs was significantly influenced by factors like workers' age, gender, industry type, heat index , symptoms, and secondary injuries. The findings underscore the need for tailored preventive strategies and training across different worker groups to mitigate HRIs risks.
