철도시스템의 센서기술 동향 (Sensor Technology Trends of the Railroad System)

  • The recent development of Sensor technology has broadened its applications to many fields of industry including railroad. The sensor technology enables the railroad system to monitor and control. This paper suggests the sensor based system design for evaluating and improving the reliability and safety of the ICT system. For this purpose, the reliability and the level of safety integrity of a general gateway have been predicted quantitatively and the supplementary design has been proposed for RAMS improvement. RAMS requirements for each life cycle stipulated in IEC 62278. RAMS activity is capable of producing significant and effective reductions in operation costs and time.

  • Today, the market and customer requirements for safety-related products in the Railway industry are continuously increasing, and companies that supply these products continue to make related efforts. However, the international standard requirements for making safety-related products are high, so small and medium-sized business companies are having difficulty developing them due to problems in time and cost to achieve them. This study examined government-centered international certificate policies and cases and suggested improvement measures based on the research results. In addition to supporting international certification costs, the government needs to expand technical consulting and expert training for them to solve problems in obtaining an international certificate.

방사성물질 운반용기의 적층시험조건에 대한 안전성 평가 (Safety Evaluation of Radioactive Material Transport Package under Stacking Test Condition)

  • IAEA 및 국내의 방사성물질 운반 관련 규정에 따라 중 저준위 방사성폐기물 드럼 8개를 운반할 수 있는 IP-2형 운반용기를 개발하였다. IP-2형 운반용기는 낙하시험 및 적층시험을 거친 후 내용물의 유실 또는 분산과 운반용기 외부표면에서의 방사선량률이 20 % 이상 증가할 수 있는 차폐능력의 상실이 없어야 한다. 본 연구의 목적은 적층시험조건에 대한 시험방법 및 절차를 수립하고 IP-2형 운반용기의 적층조건에 대한 구조적 건전성을 평가하는데 있다. 운반용기의 원형시험모델을 이용하여 운반용기 중량의 5배 하중으로 24시간 동안 압축하는 적층조건에 대한 시험 및 전산해석을 수행하였다. 적층시험 시 운반용기의 모서리기둥에서의 변형률 및 변위를 측정하였으며, 측정된 변형률 및 변위는 해석결과와 서로 일치하였다. 컨테이너 바닥부의 처짐량은 측정이 어렵기 때문에 전산해석 방법으로 구하였다. 모서리기둥의 최대 변위와 컨테이너 바닥의 최대 처짐은 법규에서 규정하는 허용치에 비하여 낮게 나타났다. 적층시험 전 후에는 운반용기의 외형치수, 차폐체 두께, 볼트토크 등을 측정하였으며, 그 값들을 비교분석한 결과 운반용기는 내용물의 유실 및 분산, 차폐체 두께의 감소가 나타나지 않았다. 따라서 적층시험조건에서 IP-2형 운반용기의 구조적 건전성이 입증되었다.

The structural and non-linear dynamic analysis for radioactive waste container

  • In recent years, the development of radioactive waste containers for nuclear facility decommissioning and dismantling is a critical issue because the Taiwan domestic boiling water reactor nuclear power plant is going to be decommissioned. The main purpose of this research is to design a metal container that meets the structural requirements of related regulations. At first, the shielding analysis was performed by varying dimensions of radioactive waste to determine the storage efficiency of the container. Then, a series of structural analyses for operational and accidental conditions of the container with full load were conducted, such as lifting, stacking, and drop impact conditions. On the other hand, the field drop impact tests were carried out to ensure structural integrity. The present research demonstrates the structural safety of the developed container for decommissioned nuclear facilities in Taiwan.

A comprehensive review on clay swelling and illitization of smectite in natural subsurface formations and engineered barrier systems

  • For the safe disposal of high-level radioactive waste using Engineered Barrier Systems (EBS), bentonite buffer is used by its high swelling capability and low hydraulic conductivity. When the bentonite buffer is contacted to heated pore water containing ions by radioactive decay, chemical alterations of minerals such as illitization reaction occur. Illitization of bentonite indicates the alteration of expandable smectite into non-expandable illite, which threatens the stability and integrity of EBS. This study intends to provide a thorough review on the information underlying in the illitization of bentonite, by covering basic clay mineralogy, smectite expansion, mechanisms and observation of illitization, and illitization in EBS. Since understanding of smectite illitization is crucial for securing the safety and integrity of nuclear waste disposal systems using bentonite buffer, this thorough review study is expected to provide essential and concise information for the preventive EBS design.

An Approach to the Localization of Technology for a Transport and Storage Container for Very Low-Level Radioactive Liquid Waste

  • The structural safety of prototype transport and storage containers for very low-level radioactive liquid waste was experimentally estimated for its localization development. Transport containers for radioactive liquid waste have been researched and developed, however, there are no standardized commercial containers for very low-level radioactive waste in Korea. In this study, the structural safety of the designated IP-2 type container capable of transporting and temporarily storing large amounts of very low-level liquid waste, which is generated during the operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants, was demonstrated. The stacking and drop tests, which were conducted to determine the structural integrity of the container, verified that there was no external leakage of the contents in spite of its structural deformation due to the drop impact. This study shows the effort required for the localization of the technology used in manufacturing transport and storage containers for very low-level radioactive liquid waste, and the additional structural reinforcement of the container in which the commercial intermediate bulk container (IBC) external frame was coupled.

무인항공기 SORA 위험평가를 위한 지상위험도 및 완화수단 분석 (A Study on Ground Risk and Mitigation in the SORA Methodology)

  • 특정범주 무인항공기 운용의 위험평가를 위해서 개발된 SORA 방법론에서는 지상 및 공중위험 등급을 결정하고 해당 위험도에 대한 특정보증 무결성 수준을 나타내는 SAIL이 할당되어 제안된 운용에 대한 운용 안전도 목표를 적절한 강건도 수준으로 입증해야 한다. 인명의 수송은 제외하는 특정범주 무인항공기 운용의 특성상 지상의 인명이 가장 먼저 고려되어야 하는 위험의 대상이며, 여기서 평가된 지상위험도는 공중위험도와 함께 SAIL의 할당에서도 중요한 역할을 한다. 위험도는 초기에 결정된 등급에 세 가지 종류의 완화수단이 적용되는 것으로 등급이 경감되어 최종 등급이 결정된다. 본 논문에서는 무인항공기의 특정범주 운용에 대한 위험평가 중에서 지상위험 등급의 결정과 완화수단의 적용을 통한 등급의 감소 및 최종 위험 등급에 따른 SAIL과 OSO에 미치는 영향에 대해서 분석하였다.

  • This paper is about the study on the verification method for railway system SIL which is frequency of hazard, composing Risk, one of the measurement standards for railway system safety. Frequency of hazard can be identified by using FMECA, or HAZOP, and the assessment of identified dangerous failure rate should be done by systematic methods such as FTA. Therefore, this paper provides the hazard identification level for SIL verification and the requirements necessary to verify the integrity of analysis activity.

Structural Integrity of PWR Fuel Assembly for Earthquake

  • In the present study, a method for the dynamic analysis of a reactor core is developed. Peak responses for the motions induced from earthquake are obtained for a core model. The dynamic responses such as fuel assembly shear force, bending moment, axial force and displacement, and spacer grid impact loads are investigated. Prediction of fuel assembly stress during an earthquake requires development of a fuel assembly stress analysis model capable of interfacing with the models and results discussed in the dynamic analysis of a reactor core. This analysis uses beam characteristics which describe the overall fuel assembly response. The stress analysis method and its application for the case of an increased seismic level are also presented.

Research on the Safety Improvement Method for the Company' s RAMS Management Business and Public Infrastructure

  • The increase in hazard level is attributed to the industrial hazard environment; complete national environmental hazards to human health include climate change. The damage level in Korea from 1993 to 2009 has exceeded the Increase In adverse environmental conditions. Priority areas of concern will include those risks that are most likely to occur and are expensive when they do take place such as accident or injury at a community pool. Therefore, in this paper, we suggest the System Engineering method for application to the railway RAMS. Recently, the requirement of high-integrity level of infrastructure has been deemed important. The systems level approach is defined through the assessment of the RAMS interactions between elements of complex system applications.
