Dynamic characteristics between waves and a floating cylindrical body connected to a tension-leg mooring cable placed in a simulated offshore environment

  • Given the rapid progress made in understanding the dynamics of an offshore floating body in an ocean environment, the present study aimed to simulate ocean waves in a small-sized wave flume and to observe the motion of a cylindrical floating body placed in an offshore environment. To generate regular ocean waves in a wave flume, we combined a wave generator and a wave absorber. In addition, to precisely visualise the oscillation of the body, a set of light-emitting diode illuminators and a high-speed charge-coupled device camera were installed in the flume. This study also focuses on the spectral analysis of the movement of the floating body. The wave generator and absorbers worked well to simulate stable regular waves. In addition, the simulated waves agreed well with the plane waves predicted by shallow-water theory. As the period of the oncoming waves changed, the movement of the floating body was substantially different when tethered to a tension-leg mooring cable. In particular, when connected to the tension-leg mooring cable, the natural frequency of the floating body appeared suddenly at 0.391 Hz as the wave period increased.

  • Rapid developments of industry and economics have made a metropolis which demands an effective urban transport management system (UTMS). Specially, this paper considers a subway surveillance system based on integrated wireless LAN technologies for public safety. Since a current subway platform security entirely relies on conventional closed circuit television camera (CCTV) or human operators, subway train drivers cannot detect platform states and cope with abnormal situations or accidents immediately. However, through the IP cameras and some wireless routers, high qualify images of the platform conditions can be directly delivered to the train drivers and other station employees in advance of train entering the platform. In this paper, several design issues and problems are discussed when building up the subway management system. Further, we illustrate a system model with the system requirements in real parametric values in order to draw concrete system designs and to realize a practical implementation of the future UTMS.

움직임 벡터를 이용한 낙상 감지 시스템 (Fall Detection System Using Motion Vector)

  • 본 논문에서는 움직임 벡터를 이용한 낙상 감지 시스템에 관해 기술한다. 두드러진 움직임을 위한 가중치 차영상 기법, 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 인간이라고 판단되는 블랍을 검출하고, 추출된 움직임 벡터를 이용하여 낙상 여부를 판단한다. 기존의 영상 기반 낙상 감지 시스템의 경우 특정 방향으로 낙상이 발생하는 경우에만 낙상 감지에 성공하였지만 제안 시스템의 경우 다양한 각도에서 낙상이 발생하여도 상황 판단이 가능하다는 장점이 있다. 실험을 위해서 150개의 상황을 연출하였으며, 약 85% ~ 97.1% 낙상 상황 판단 성공률을 보였다.

  • In this study an automatic roiling-coli labeling system using robot vision system and peripheral mechanism is proposed and implemented, which instead of the manual labor to attach labels Rolling-coils in a steel miil. The binary image process for the image processing is performed with the threshold, and the contour line is converted to the binary gradient which detects the discontinuous variation of brightness of rolling-coils. The moment invariants algorithm proposed by Hu is used to make it easy to recognize even when the position of the center are different from the trained data. The position error compensation algorithm of six degrees of freedom industrial robot manipulator is also developed and the data of the position of the center rolling-coils, which is obtained by floor mount camera, are transfered by asynchronous communication method. Therefore even if the position of center is changed, robot moves to the position of center and performs the labeling work successfully. Therefore, this system can be improved the safety and efficiency.

시청 불편감을 유발하는 스테레오스코픽 3D 비디오 콘텐츠의 복합적 요인들의 실증적 분석 (Substantive Analysis of Composite Factors Causing Viewer's Discomfort for Stereoscopic 3D Video Contents)

  • This paper analyzes qualitatively the stereo 3D content factors causing viewer's discomfort. For this, we perform a subjective test that each subject strokes a specific key whenever he (she) feels discomfort during watching a stereo 3D contents. Also we extract the data for the factors in the 3D contents to obtain their quantitative values and the amounts of the temporal changes. Those two sets of data are used to analyze the contents to find the factors which cause viewer's discomfort. The factors to be considered are the amount and the frequency of the disparity changes, story of the contents, situation or environments of a scene, movement and the position of the camera, color and luminance information as well as disparities themselves. We analyse the various strong and weak factors and their composites to find how much discomfort each factor or composite causes. We also show the situations and their related factors that causes less discomfort than the amount of their disparities.

도로시설물 관리를 위한 교통안전표지 인식 및 자동위치 취득 방법 연구 (The Road Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic Positioning for Road Facility Management)

  • PURPOSES: This study is to develop a road traffic sign recognition and automatic positioning for road facility management. METHODS: In this study, we installed the GPS, IMU, DMI, camera, laser sensor on the van and surveyed the car position, fore-sight image, point cloud of traffic signs. To insert automatic position of traffic sign, the automatic traffic sign recognition S/W developed and it can log the traffic sign type and approximate position, this study suggests a methodology to transform the laser point-cloud to the map coordinate system with the 3D axis rotation algorithm. RESULTS: Result show that on a clear day, traffic sign recognition ratio is 92.98%, and on cloudy day recognition ratio is 80.58%. To insert exact traffic sign position. This study examined the point difference with the road surveying results. The result RMSE is 0.227m and average is 1.51m which is the GPS positioning error. Including these error we can insert the traffic sign position within 1.51m CONCLUSIONS: As a result of this study, we can automatically survey the traffic sign type, position data of the traffic sign position error and analysis the road safety, speed limit consistency, which can be used in traffic sign DB.

철도차량 차축 재료의 파괴특성 적외선열화상 모니터링 (Infrared Thermographic Monitoring for Failure Characterization in Railway Axle Materials)

  • 차축과 차륜으로 구성되는 철도차량 윤축은 차량의 운행과 관련하여 안전과 직결되는 중요한 철도 부품의 하나이다. 본 연구에서는 철도차량의 차축 재료의 인장파괴거동에 대한 특성을 분석하였다. 20년 이상 운행된 전기기관차 및 디젤전기기관차의 차축 시편에 대하여 연장시험을 수행하였다. 인장시험 동안 시편의 파괴특성을 모니터링하기 위해 고속 적외선카메라가 사용되었는데, 인장시험 동안의 시편 표변의 온도 변화를 모니터링하여 온도 분포로부터 인장파괴거동을 설명하고 파괴모드를 규명하고자 하였다.

  • 초소형 스마트탄의 개발을 위해 초소형 추진기관을 설계하고 그레인은 내부 형상의 제작 용이성을 고려하여 열가소성 추진제로 제작하였다. 추진기관의 성능분석을 위해 지상연소시험과 내탄도 해석이 수행되었다. 그리고 사수와 추진기관 간 안전거리 설계에 대한 기초자료를 획득하기 위하여 수치해석을 수행하였으며, 배기가스의 온도분포는 수치해석과 IR 카메라의 측정결과를 비교하여 분석되었다.

CFIT 자율 회피를 위한 심층강화학습 기반 에이전트 연구 (Study of Deep Reinforcement Learning-Based Agents for Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT) Autonomous Avoidance)

  • In Efforts to prevent CFIT accidents so far, have been emphasizing various education measures to minimize the occurrence of human errors, as well as enforcement measures. However, current engineering measures remain in a system (TAWS) that gives warnings before colliding with ground or obstacles, and even actual automatic avoidance maneuvers are not implemented, which has limitations that cannot prevent accidents caused by human error. Currently, various attempts are being made to apply machine learning-based artificial intelligence agent technologies to the aviation safety field. In this paper, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based artificial intelligence agent that can recognize CFIT situations and control aircraft to avoid them in the simulation environment. It also describes the composition of the learning environment, process, and results, and finally the experimental results using the learned agent. In the future, if the results of this study are expanded to learn the horizontal and vertical terrain radar detection information and camera image information of radar in addition to the terrain database, it is expected that it will become an agent capable of performing more robust CFIT autonomous avoidance.

Anomaly detection of isolating switch based on single shot multibox detector and improved frame differencing

  • High-voltage isolating switches play a paramount role in ensuring the safety of power supply systems. However, their exposure to outdoor environmental conditions may cause serious physical defects, which may result in great risk to power supply systems and society. Image processing-based methods have been used for anomaly detection. However, their accuracy is affected by numerous uncertainties due to manually extracted features, which makes the anomaly detection of isolating switches still challenging. In this paper, a vision-based anomaly detection method for isolating switches, which uses the rotational angle of the switch system for more accurate and direct anomaly detection with the help of deep learning (DL) and image processing methods (Single Shot Multibox Detector (SSD), improved frame differencing method, and Hough transform), is proposed. The SSD is a deep learning method for object classification and localization. In addition, an improved frame differencing method is introduced for better feature extraction and a hough transform method is adopted for rotational angle calculation. A number of experiments are conducted for anomaly detection of single and multiple switches using video frames. The results of the experiments demonstrate that the SSD outperforms the You-Only-Look-Once network. The effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method have been proven under various conditions, such as different illumination and camera locations using 96 videos from the experiments.
