Development of a Safe Driving Management System (안전운전 관리시스템 개발)

  • Dangerous driving is a major cause of traffic accidents in Korea. It becomes more serious for commercial vehicles due to higher fatality rates. The Safe Driving Management System (SDMS), developed in this research, is a comprehensive solution that monitors and stores driving conditions of vehicles, detects dangerous driving situations, and analyzes the results in real time. The Safe Driving Management System consists of a vehicle movement information controller, a dangerous driving detection algorithm and a vehicle movement data report and analysis program. The dangerous driving detection algorithm detects and classifies dangerous driving conditions into representative cases such as sudden acceleration, sudden braking, sudden lane change, and sudden turning. Both computer simulation and vehicle test have been conducted to develop and verify the algorithm. The Safe Driving Management System has been implemented on commercial buses to verify its reliability and objectivity. It is expected that the system can contribute to prevention of traffic accidents, systemization of safe driving management and reduction of commercial vehicle operation costs.

  • This study is a relatively small scale compared to the massive construction company, construction company's safety management level of the low. A small architectural scene safety management is a necessity for basic research as a whole and of 67.20% died in the disaster, which killed the disaster scene in a small building. Small construction site for a reflections of the prevailing security situation, the existing literature and statistical data to determine what the issue, for the purpose of the proposal and come up with improvement measures.

  • Increasing the need of national safety management system in order to an epoch-making improvement to scientific disaster management which appears new types of disasters through the exchange of traditional disaster environment and responds actively to the rapid exchange of social environment based on u-IT. Requiring the development of systematical information sharing networking system and sharing realtime data amongst government, local authorities and related organisations under both safety management in normal times and circumstance management in disaster times, and need for the establishment of national safety strategy, which has been strengthened function such as prevention and preparation. This research provides a basic scheme and strategic tasks in order to constitute preventing scientific national disaster prevention structure at anytime and anywhere from disaster which is based on ubiquitous technology and realise the intelligent national disaster prevention system of u-safe Korea.

  • Objective: This study proposed a system for safe management of agricultural facilities whereby safety accidents of farmers are prevented from harmful factors of agricultural facilities and relevant hazardous situations, and efficient reaction is made possible when an accident occurs. Background: Recent development of information and communication technology (ICT) brought groundbreaking development of cutting-edge technologies such as the internet of things (IoT) and ubiquitous sensor network, and application of such technologies is expanding to the area of industrial safety. In particular, accidents from the hazardous environment surrounding agricultural facilities, say, from harmful gases, are frequently taking place and therefore development of services for safe farming work is required. Method: This study examined the types of safety accidents related to agricultural facilities occurring during farming work and designed a ICT-based system for safe management of accidents. Results: This study presents a model of such system and the model has the following functions: detection of harmful environment and conditions dangerous to farmers with sensor technologies; communication network technology for prevention of and fast coping with accidents; and user interface aimed at monitoring harmful environment and dangerous situations. Conclusion: The ICT-based system for safe management of agricultural facilities proposed in this study is expected to be applied as an application technology for safe agricultural activities. Application: The outcome of this study will be useful to develop a convergent ICT-based system for the prevention of safety accidents related to agricultural facilities.

Management Plan for the Production of Safe and High Quality Drinking Water From the Paldang Lake (고 품질 수돗물 생산을 위한 팔당 수질관리 방안)

  • It is necessary to implement the management plan for the production of safe and high quality drinking water from lake Paldang. To set up the plan, the water quality items such as BOD, T-P, SS and coliform were monitored for ten years, 1997~2006, and the influence of raw water quality on the drinking water treatment process and the treated water quality was also evaluated from 2004 to 2006. In conclusion, water quality items such as turbidity(SS), T-P(eutrophication), pathogens(fecal coliforms, enterovirus, reovirus, giardia, cryptosporidium), DOC(precursor of disinfection by-products), and micro-pollutants(phthalates, VOCs, heavy metals) are should be managed to get safe and high quality drinking water from lake Paldang.

  • In this study, it was researched a kind of the press machines which had been retained in the domestic press working companies. And then it was analyzed the present conditions with the working types, companies size, the aging types and the continuous working periods. Specially, the purpose of this paper is decreased the industrial accidents of the domestic press working companies by the proposing the safe prevention which are obtained by the analysing the accidential reasons.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the evaluation system of which the city safety can be realized in the U-City. The evaluation system on "how much safe the present city is" and "how much safe it will be in the future" has been selected and the criticality has also been analyzed. The result of criticality analysis is that the indicator for "how safe the current city is" showed that the disaster prevention and environmental field are important. In the future, the indicator of possibility for the U-safe city should be prepared by the imtegrative operation management system, and on the basis of this, it also showed that the necessary indicator to build the system for keeping the safe city is important. The evaluation system for the U-safe city, hereafter, can be utilized for the city plan, construction, operation, and management utilized by IT in local government.

The Household's investment on risky and safe financial assets (가계의 위험자산과 안전자산 투자분석 -금융자산을 중심으로-)

  • While theories of portfolio selection have been developed very little is known about how individuals actually go about constructing their asset potfolios. This study investigates empirically the characteristics of household's assets and which factor associated with risky and safe asset amount. Data used in this study consisted of 2,164 households and the statistics employed to analyze the data are univariate procedure Logit analysis and OLS. The results of this study were as follows: Among 2,164 households 505 housholds(23.3%) had risky assets. Average risky asset amount is 8,351,500 won and average safe asset amount is 7,086,900 won. Region education and occupation of household head home ownership transfer and other income and total expenditure had significant effects on either and other income and total expenditure had significant effects on either household having risky asset or safe asset. Financial income transfer and other income and total expenditure had significantly p sitive relation with the risky asset amount. Whereas age and the occupation of household head the sense of economic wellbeing earned financial tranfer and other income and total expenditure had significantly positive relation with safe asset amount.

  • This technical report was developed to suggest the guideline to assess the safe use and handling metalworking fluids (MWFs) in machining operation. The basis of this method developed in this study was based on self assessment procedure recommended by Organization Resources Counselors (ORC) of the United States (US). In addition, various MWF management elements obtained from the review on various articles, reports and author's experience regarding MWF were newly added to the evaluation guideline. A total of four areas were finally selected in order to control exposure to MWF used in machining operations. They are all related to the presence and efficiency of the control measures, exposure assessment, management on tank and sump, and safe treatment of chips and metal fines generated during machining operations. Each area is consisted of several related elements. Several evaluation areas and elements used in this study could be revised, replaced, added and deleted according to the process environment, evaluation objectives and evaluator's (manager) criteria etc. This evaluation guide manual could be used for safe management of MWF in metalworking operation. In addition, industrial hygienists can use this evaluation method for auditing and evaluating the management status on MWF.
