Comparison Analysis between the IWRAP and the ES Model in Ulsan Waterway

  • According to the Marine Traffic Safety Law, revised in 2009, Marine Traffic Safety Audit is introduced to secure the safe navigation, to prevent the marine accident and to maximize the efficiency of the port. In this audit system, marine traffic safety assessment is the most important scheme because the primary purpose of the audit system is to identify potential risk elements affecting safe navigation. Even though the reliability of audit result depends on the selection of assessment models, there are no independent assessment models for Korean coastal waters and most of models used in Korea currently are developed by foreign countries. Therefore, the development of the independent assessment model for Korean coastal water is required. This study, prior to the development of independent assessment model, aims to provide a basic data by comparing two foreign assessment models in Ulsan port area with marine accident statistics data.

  • Most of the agricultural structures are in shortage of feasible facility management because these structures are small in size and spacially distributed in rural area. Inspection tools based on visual inspections are generally used for agricultural structures in most of the countries, including Korea. It is necessary to survey data of the irrigation structures to maintain records, and to develop the interface program by constructing database of inspection data. This study was conducted to develop a system for safe appraisal and repair works on agricultural irrigation structures. Repair and rehabilitation method can be chosen from an optimum viewpoint if the information between the method and life-cycle management cost of agricultural structures is constructed in the database. In this study, the system assisting onsite field investigation and determining the typical rehabilitation method of typical agricultural structural problems such as fractures and cracks of members was developed.

  • In this paper we propose the method that detects moving objects in autonomous navigation vehicle using LRF sensor data. Object detection and tracking methods are widely used in research area like safe-driving, safe-navigation of the autonomous vehicle. The proposed method consists of three steps: data segmentation, mobility classification and object tracking. In order to make the raw LRF sensor data to be useful, Occupancy grid is generated and the raw data is segmented according to its appearance. For classifying whether the object is moving or static, trajectory patterns are analysed. As the last step, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is used for tracking the object. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method can accurately detect moving objects.

루프형 낙석방지안전시설의 구조적 안전성 검토 연구 (Structural Safety Analysis of Newly Developed Roof-Typed Falling Rock Protection System)

  • Road is typically constructed along ridge area of mountain because of topographical and economic reasons. Therefore, road may face lots of open cut slope which can easily cause rock falling. This study evaluates the structural safety of newly developed falling rock protection system which has a roof deck plate. The structural performance under self-weight, snow load and load from failing rock was investigated using a finite element numerical analysis method. From the analysis results, the H-beam space was limited not to exceed 2.2m. The deck plate was also safe under the examined loading condition. A hinge and connection in the system were investigated through detailed modelling and analysis. The results showed that the hinge was safe enough and that the connection should strengthened with appropriate stiffeners.

  • The prediction of the safe separation of the external stores carried on military aircraft is an important task in the aerodynamic design area having the objective to define the operational, release envelopes. The major concern of this study is only safe jettison problem with ejections. This work consists of concept and some results for external store configurations. A Computational Fluid Dynamics technique is applied to calculate the aerodynamic forces. The FLUENT with an implicit Euler solver is used for the present simulations. The computational results are validated against the experimental data.

  • In this study, the seismic analysis of rack structure with fluid-structure interaction is performed through use of the Finite Element Method(FEM) code ANSYS. Fluid-structure interaction can specify in terms of an hydrodynamic effect which is defined as the added mass per unit length divided by the area of the cross section. Using the Floor Response Spectrum(FRS) obtained through the time-history analysis, modal analysis and seismic analysis under Operating Basis Earthquake(OBE) and Safe Shutdown Earthquake(SSE) condition is carried out. The fluid-structure interaction effects on the rack structure are investigated.

Recently, LRF(Laser Range Finder) is widely used because it shows more accurate results of range finding. However, most of LRFs use laser source which have wavelength ranges harmful to the human eyes.   • The main objective of this study is to find factors and typical characteristics on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders in small sized companies which are located at eastern area in Kangwon-Do. Musculoskeletal disorders are becoming a serious problem in various industrial fields. Many researches have been focused on the analysis on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders in order to reduce and prevent them. As a similar endeavor, this paper provides factor analysis on outbreak of musculoskeletal disorders. Questionnaire surveys regarding musculoskeletal disorders were conducted for the total number of 250 field workers. For the purpose of this study, seven independent variables(gender, age, career, housework, accident, trouble, and pain) are taken from questionnaires. The provided analysis result will be helpful as a starting point for root cause analysis and reduction of musculoskeletal disorders and also for establishment of safe work environments.
