The purpose of this study is to synthesize and specifically analyze the effects of elementary SW-STEAM Education on learning outcomes by using meta-analysis. 29 papers are selected and total of 60 effect sizes are deduced. Total effect size is a medium effect of .35, which reveals significant effect on the cognitive and affective domains, and 8 moderator variables explain the difference in total effect sizes as well. The results show that SW-STEAM education is effective for elementary students' learning outcomes. Practical implication for design and implementation are addressed.
In order to prepare for future social changes, SW·AI education is essential. In this paper, after conducting non-face-to-face SW·AI education for pre-service teachers, the effectiveness of SW education before and after education was measured using the measurement tool on the software educational effectiveness. As a result of the analysis, the overall average and the average of the 'computational thinking' and 'SW literacy' domains increased significantly, and the difference between the averages before and after education was statistically significant in decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm, which are sub domains of 'computational thinking'. Through SW·AI education, students not only recognize the necessity of SW education and the importance of computational thinking, but also understand the process of decomposing information, recognizing and extracting patterns, and expressing problem-solving processes. It can be seen that non-face-to-face SW·AI education has the effect of improving computational thinking and SW literacy beyond recognizing the importance of SW.

Software courses required for all students regardless of their major in many universities. SW educational effectiveness model needs to be developed to enable effective communication among students, professors, and SW educators, and to identify the responsibilities of SW educators. SW educational effectiveness model based on literature review is composed of computational thinking, SW literacy, SW awareness, and SW attitude. Computational thinking, focused on analysis and design of problem solving processes, consists of decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms. SW literacy involves viewing social development based on SW beyond information literacy in the digital age. The SW awareness and attitude were organized by considering the collegiate contexts. The SW educational effectiveness model will be used as the basis for diagnosis tools as further studies.

Globally SW education is becoming increasingly important, and the government is preparing for this trend as a mandatory implementation of SW education in the 2015 revised curriculum. However, because the 17 hours of annual education offered in the course of Practical Arts cannot have great educational effects, this study attempted to develop a robot-based SW education program related to other regular subjects. Also in order to verify the effects of the program related to future competencies, problem solving ability and communication ability were selected as key factors. The paired t-test was conducted to examine whether there was a significant difference between pretest and posttest results. As a result, it was verified that the subject-related SW education program using robots was effective in improving students' problem-solving ability and communication ability. In addition, after the program was completed a survey was conducted, and it was possible to confirm that students could have positive perception on SW education.

In this study, we examine the effects of SW education using robot on flow in elementary school. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, SW education using robot was conducted to 155 students. In addition, we examined mean difference using matched pair t-test and ANCOVA. Our results show that SW education using robot significantly improved flow. Further, flow was not associated with gender. This study was investigated effects of the SW education using robot and identify differences depending on gender, and expanded the understanding of the SW education using robot.

Because the success of SW education depends on teachers' competences and understanding, many universities of education are carrying out SW education for pre-service teachers. The purpose of this research is to analyze the current status of pre-service teachers' programming learning experiences and understanding of curriculum and educational effects related to SW education. The participants were 294 junior and senior students enrolled in a university of education. In relation to 'programming learning experiences', many responded positively in terms of interest, usefulness and willingness to learn. However, many were not satisfied with their programming experiences, felt difficulty in programming, and evaluated their programming abilities as low. For the 'understanding of SW education curriculum', many recognized the necessity of SW education and understood that the allocated time was insufficient. Both positive and negative opinions were reported concerning the fact that SW education is conducted in practical arts. In comparison, many did not understand well about the concept and characteristics of SW education and the details of the curriculum. In relation to the 'understanding of SW education effects', many understood positively about all the effects presented in the questionnaire including problem solving abilities and creativity. In addition, significant differences were found among pre-service teachers' major categories regarding the programming learning experiences and the understanding of SW education curriculum and effects. Based on the results of the research, suggestions were made for the improvement of the pre-service teachers' SW education program.
In the previous study on the effectiveness of SW education, the educational goals were mainly focused on developing computational thinking ability and researching changes in computational thinking ability. But the word "computational thinking" is difficult to the public. Also the definition of computational thinking is varies from scholar to scholar. Therefore, this study aims to inform the public of the excellence and effectiveness of SW education through the change of "writing ability" which is more familiar to us. To achieve this goal, 10 lectures of SW training materials were produced and conducted in elementary science gifted class. As a result, significant changes have been made in the fluency and quality of writing skills, proving that SW training improves students' writing skills. Through this, we confirmed the visible results through SW education, which can be called justification of SW education. Furthermore, it is expected that various educational attempts will be developed using SW in other subjects.

In this study, researchers developed the core teacher training program for elementary SW education. In order to develop the training program, the direction of training development was set, and the final version of the training was prepared through the pilot training. The main focus of the training program was to cultivate the teachers' ability to understand and apply SW education based on the national curriculum. After the program development, its effectiveness was analysed by applying it to the actual national training course. This training program was applied to the 2019 winter and summer teacher training courses organized by the Ministry of Education. To analyze the effectiveness of the training program, SW education teaching efficacy and satisfaction were surveyed. The results analysis found out the developed training program has positive effects on trained teachers.

The educational environment, where the change to blended learning and AI convergence education through non-face-to-face is accelerating, is based on the cultivation of digital literacy. This study attempted to verify the effectiveness of future competencies by creating a collaborative SW education program on the metaverse platform that emerged by supplementing the problems through non-face-to-face. Twenty programs on how to design and create software were organized for small-scale elementary classes in the metaverse. In order to verify the effectiveness 4C competency tool presented as future educational competency was selected, and homogeneity test for the experimental group and t-test were conducted. The results showed the SW education programs based on metaverse was effective in improving collaborative communication skills, confirming the possibility of SW education through blended learning.

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of SW education using robots on Computational Thinking, Creativity, Academic Interest and Collaborative skill. In order to achieve the purpose, SW education using robots was conducted to 88 students in 5th grade in Seoul. After collecting data, we examined mean differences using matched pair t-test. The results indicated that the SW education using robots is associated with significant improvements in Computational Thinking, Creativity and Academic Interest while Collaborative skill is not associated with significant improvement. This research investigated the effects of the SW education using robots and expanded the understanding of the SW education using robots. In addition, this study provides several implications with regard to suggesting the direction to go further of SW education using robots.
