In this study, the carburizing heat treatment process used in aircraft gear manufacturing was compared with the general carburizing heat treatment process using AISI 9310 steel. The process of carburizing followed by slow cooling, and then quenching after austenitizing(Process A) showed less compressive residual stress and less retained austenite in the surface layer compared to the process of quenching directly after carburizing(Process B). In prpcess B, there was a large amount of retained austenite when quenched immediately after carburization, and when treated with subzero, martensite rapidly increased and the compressive residual stress increased significantly, but at the same time, there is a risk of cracking due to severe expansion in volume. Therefore, in the case of aviation parts, it is believed that a step-by-step heat treatment cycle was adopted to ensure stability against heat treatment cracks. As a result of the final tempering after sub-zero treatment, the A process specimen showed a deeper effective case depth and HV700 depth and a higher hardness value above HV700 than the B process specimen.

Design and Manufacturing processes of Ti-6Al-4V profiled ring-products were investigated with three-dimensional FEM simulation and experimental analyses. FEM simulation for the ring-rolling process was used to calculate the state variables such as strain, strain rate and temperature. In the simulation results of strain and temperature distributions for a plane ring rolling process, the strain level at the surface area is higher than that at the mid-plane, but the temperature level at the surface area is lower than that at mid-plane due to heat transfer between the workpiece and the work roll. These distributions showed a great influence on the evolution of microstructure in different positions. In order to induce the uniform deformation of the profile ring and reduce the applied load, the final blank was prepared by two-step processes. The mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy ring products made in this work were investigated with tensile and impact tests and analyzed with the evolution of microstructures during the ring rolling process.

In this study, we developed an automated non-contact thickness measurement machine that continuously and precisely measures the thickness and warp of a PCB product using a laser sensor. The system contains a measurement part to measure the thickness in real time automatically according to the set conditions with an alignment supply unit and unloading unit to separate OK and NG products. The measurement machine was utilized to evaluate the performance at each step to minimize measurement error. At the zero setting for the initial setup, the standard deviation of the 216 samples was determined to be $5.52{\mu}m$. A measurement error of 0.5mm and 1.0mm as a standard sample in the measurement accuracy assessment was found to be 2.48% and 2.28%, respectively. In the factory acceptance test, the standard deviation of 1.461mm PCB was measured as $28.99{\mu}m$, with a $C_{pk}$ of 1.2. The automatic thickness measurement machine developed in this study can contribute to productivity and quality improvement in the mass production process.

Taylor and Ford in the 1910s led to the "scientific management" for the entire industry from the manufacturing spread of TQM Total Quality Management has been structured as a management efficiency, such as 6-Sigma techniques were developed. SW development also introduces the idea, such as CMMI and SPICE-based process management, management practices have evolved. However, in recent years to increase the knowledge of workers in the manufacturing process oriented management approach is under serious challenge. Business performance or productivity will be varied depending all motivation, human relationship, job involvement rather than simply putting a lot of time. Especially in the SW industry which is depending on human resource, Creativity should be limited in traditional management methods. Recently, Google and Apple, Cisco and global advanced companies adopt a human relationship management. Their productivity and creativity in product development has been successful by giving autonomy and motivation, enthusiasm and vision to tile employees. Human relationship management since the mid-1990s, appears as a new paradigm so called Agile process in the field of SW development. Agile processes emphasis on light, flexible and responding to changes immediately in the business environment step away from traditional management approach which is the heavy and complicated process. In this paper, agile project management concepts and practices which is applied to industry will be examined.

The progressive die performs a work of sheet metal processes with a piercing, notching, embossing, bending, drawing, cut-off etc. in many kinds of pressing. Now a days, these processes have been evaluated as a advanced tooling method to increase the productivity and high quality assurance. The first step analyzing of die design is production part review, then the arrangement drawing of product design and strip process layout design should be done as a next steps with a FEM simulation for its problem solution. After upper procedure were peformed, it was started to make the die, then tryout and its revision of the die and product quality, safety, productivity etc. were done continually. For the all of these process, we mobilized the theory and practice of sheet metal forming, die structure, the function and activity of die components, and the others of die machining, die material, heat treatment and know‐how so on. In this study the features of representative are production part analyzing through the FEM simulation of bending area with a considering spring back problem by DEFORM.

Transition Nozzles are used in industrial air-cooled heat exchangers and widely used in industrial sites as an important component in the heat energy transfer between a heat source and an actuating fluid. There is a worldwide demand for transition nozzles with various materials and shapes, depending on the use environment. This paper aims to improve the transition nozzle forging process suitable for the production of many varieties using Steps 1 to 6 of the TRIZ Methodology for Problem Solving. By utilizing the TRIZ Methodology, this study derives a method to design a variable mold, which is more efficient and can reduce costs compared with having to use several molds. To verify the suitability of the methods derived using the TRIZ technique, a forging analysis is performed on a transition nozzle using DEFORMⓇ, a commercial program for plasticity analysis, and the nozzle material is evaluated for damage as a result of deformation of the transition nozzle thickness. The derived methods can be applied to transition nozzle formation equipment to improve the efficiency of the formation process.

Metal Injection Molding (MIM) is attractive because it produces consistent, complex-geometry components for high-volume, high-strength, and high-performance applications. Also MIM using in optical communication field, display field, and semi-conductor field is a cost-effective alternative to metal machining or investment casting parts. It offers tremendous single-step parts consolidation potential and design flexibility. The objective of this paper is to study the suitability of design, flow analysis, debinding and sinterin processes, and capability analysis. The suitable injection conditions were 0.5~1.5 second filling time, 11.0~12.5 MPa injection pressure derived from flow analysis. The gravity of the product is measured after debinding an sintering. The maximum and minimum gravity levels are 7.5939 and 7.5097. the average and standard deviation are 7.5579 and 0.0122; when converted into density, the figure stands at 98.154%. According to an analysis of overall capacity, PPM total, which refers to defect per million opportunities(DPMO), stands at 166,066.3 Z.Bench-the sum of defect rates exceeding the actual lowest and highest limits-is 0.97, which translates into the good quality rate of around 88.4% and the sigma level of 2.47.

Recently, as the weight reduction of vehicles has been actively progressed, parts developed using aluminum 60XX series from existing steel materials are increasing. In this paper, the bushing used for the front frame rail, which is one of the parts for fixing engines and other parts in automobiles, was changed to an aluminum material of the Al60XX series, and it was intended to be produced by applying of cold forging method. The bushing is a part that secures the engine frame, and in order to produce it by cold forging, the molding limit is predicted through process design, and a multi-stage process is designed through finite element analysis. In addition, in order to verify the feasibility of the designed forging process, the limits of the multi-step process were verified based on the Cockcroft Latham theory, and the crack and overlap of the actual forging work were predicted and improved.

In this study, we investigated the traits of the clad metals used in hot-rolled clad steel plates. We examined the sensitization and mechanical properties of STS 316 steel plate and carbon steel (A516) under the specific circumstances of post heat treatment and whether a weld was multilayered and thick or repeated because of repairs. The test conditions were as follows. The clad steel plates were butt-welded using FCAW/SAW, and the heat treatment was conducted at $625^{\circ}C$, for 80, 160, 320, 640, or 1280 min. The change in the corrosion resistance was evaluated in these specimens. In the case of the carbon steel (A516), as the heat treatment time increased, the annealing effect caused the tensile strength to decrease. The micro- hardness gradually increased and then decreased after 640 min. The elongation and contraction of the area increased gradually. An oxalic acid etch test and EPR test on STS316, a clad metal, showed a STEP structure and no sensitization. From the test results for the multi-layered and repair welds, it could be concluded that there is no effect on the corrosion resistance of clad metals. In summary, the purpose of this study was to suggest some considerations when developing on-site techniques and evaluate the sensitization of stainless steels.

Formula race car is generally recognized as a vehicle which is optimally designed for on-road race track with the regulations of race host bodies. Especially, the uprights of suspension system decisively have effects on the performance of cornering and stability of race car's driving performance, which are very important factors in the design of race car. This paper is a study of optimal upright design of F1800 grade formula race car which are normally used in professional race circuit in Korea. To design optimally the front upright of F1800 formula race car, Taguchi's orthogonal array, which is known for more useful method than full factorial design experimental method in cost and time, is used with CAE method such as FEM analysis. And the result of this paper shows that Taguchi's orthogonal array employed for this optimal design is very useful for designing the front upright of race car by minimizing its weight as well as keeping its safety factor as enough as designer wants in the view of quality, cost and delivery at the early design step.
