Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generation from remotely sensed imagery is crucial for a variety of mapping applications such as ortho-photo generation, city modeling. High resolution imaging satellites such as SPOT-5, IKONOS, QUICK-BIRD, ORBVIEW constitute an excellent source for efficient and economic generation of DEM data. However, prerequisite knowledge in the areas of sensor modeling, epipolar resampling, and image matching is required to generate DEM from these high resolution satellite imagery. From the above requirements, epipolar resampling emerges as the most important factors. Research attempts in this area are still in high demand and short supply. Another cause that adds to the complication of the problem is that most studies of DEM generation from IKONOS scenes have been based on rational function model. In this paper, we proposed a new methodology for DEM generation from satellite scenes using parallel projection model which is sensor independent, makes it possible for sensor modeling and epipolar resampling by only few control points. The performance and feasibility of the developed methodology is evaluated through real dataset captured by IKONOS.

The Land Cover/Land Use Map have been constructed from 1998, which has hierarchical structure according to land cover/land use system. Level 1 classification Map have done using Landsat satellite image over whole Korean peninsula. Level II classification Map have been digitized using IRS-1C, 1D, KOMPSAT and SPOT5 satellite images resolution-merged with low resolution color images. Level II Land Cover/Land Use Map construction by digitizing method, however, is consuming enormous expense for satellite image acquisition, image process and Land Cover/Land Use Map construction. In this paper, the possibility of constructing Level II Land Cover/Land Use Map using hyperspectral satellite image of EO-1 Hyperion, which is studied a lot recently, is studied. The comparison of classifications using Hyperion satellite image offering more spectral information and Landsat-7 ETM+ image is performed to evaluate the availability of Hyperion satellite image. Also, the algorithm of the optimal band selection is presented for effective application of hyperspectral satellite image.

Spot welding widely used in automotive and aerospace industries has made it possible to produce more precise and smaller electric part by robotization and systemization of welding process. The quality of welding depends upon the size of nugget between the overlapped steel plates. Recently, the thickness of the steel plates becomes much thinner and hence, it introduces the smaller size of nugget. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the criterion to evaluate the quality of weld in order to obtain the optimal welding conditions for the better performance. In this paper, a thin steel plates, 0.1mm through 0.3mm thickness, have been spot-welded at different welding conditions and the nugget sizes are examined by defocused scanning microscopy. The relationships between nugget sizes and weldability have been investigated experimentally. The result of ultrasonic technique shows the good agreement with that of the tensile test.
Recently, SAR Interferometry method is actively being studied as a new technic in topographic mapping using satellite imageries. it extract height values using two SAR imageries covering same areas. Unlike when using SPOT imageries, it isn't affected by atmospheric conditions and time. But it is difficult to process radar imageries and the height accuracy is very low where relief displacements are high. In this study, we produced DEM(Digital Elevation Model) using ERS-1, ERS-2 tandem data and analysed the height accuracy over 14 ground control points. The mean error in height was 14.06m. But when using airborne SAR data, it Is expected that we can produce more accurate DEM which will be able to ue used in updating 1/10,000 or 1/25,000 map.

2 Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis(2DGE) is an essentialmethodology for analysis on the expression of various proteins. For example, information for the location, mass, expression, size and shape of the proteins obtained by 2DGE can be used for diagnosis, prognosis and biological progress by comparison of patients with the normal persons. Protein spot matching for this purpose is comparative analysis of protein expression pattern for the 2DGE images generated under different conditions. However, visual analysis of protein spots which are more than several hundreds included in a 2DGE image requires long time and heavy effort. Furthermore, geometrical distortion makes the spot matching for the same protein harder. In this paper, an iterative algorithm is introduced for more efficient spot matching. Proposed method is first performing global matching step, which reduces the geometrical difference between the landmarks and the spot to be matched. Thus, movement for a spot is defined by a weighted sum of the movement of the landmark spots. Weight for the summation is defined by the inverse of the distance from the spots to the landmarks. This movement is iteratively performed until the total sum of the difference between the corresponding landmarks is larger than a pre-selected value. Due to local distortion generally occurred in 2DGE images, there are many regions in whichmany spot pairs are miss-matched. In the second stage, the same spot matching algorithm is applied to such local regions with the additional landmarks for those regions. In other words, the same method is applied with the expanded landmark set to which additional landmarks are added. Our proposed algorithm for spot matching empirically proved reliable analysis of protein separation image by producing higher accuracy.

This paper focused on generation of more accurate DEM and analysis of accuracy. For this, we applied suitable sensor modeling technique for each satellite image and automatic pyramid matching using image pyramid was applied. Matching algorithm based on epipolarity and scene geometry also was applied for stereo matching. IKONOS, Quickbird, SPOT-5, Kompsat-2 were used for experiments. In particular, we applied orbit-attitude sensor modeling technique for Kompsat-2 and performed DEM generation successfully. All DEM generated show good quality. Assessment was carried out using USGS DTED and we also compared between DEM generated in this research and DEM generated from common software. All DEM had $9m{\sim}12m$ Mean Absolute Error and $13m{\sim}16m$ RMS Error. Experimental results show that the DEMs of good performance which is similar to or better than result of DEMs generated from common software.
Commonly-used methods for camera modelling of pushbroom images were implemented and their performances were assessed. The models include Vector Propagation) model, Gugan and Downman(GD)'s model, Orun and Natarajan(ON)'s model, and Direct Linear Transformation(DLT) model The models were tested on a SPOT full-scene over Seoul. The number of ground control points(GCP) used range from 1 to 23. For less than 6 GCPs all other models fail except VP, with VP's accuracy being 2.7 pixels. With mode than 6 GCPs ON shows the best accuracy with 1pixel accuracy while the accuracy of VP is 1.5 pixels. GD fails in most cases due to the correlation among model parameters. The accuracy of DLT does not converge but fluctuates between 1 and 4 pixels subject to GCPs used. VP has an advantage in that its results can be used for the estimation of satellite orbit. Unresolved topics are: to remove errors in GCPs from the aforementioned accuracy value; to improve the performance of VP.
In the classification of satellite images, the representative of training of classes is very important factor that affects the classification accuracy. Hence, in order to improve the classification accuracy, it is required to optimize pre-classification stage which determines classification parameters rather than to develop classifiers alone. In this study, the normality of training are calculated at the preclassification stage using SPOT XS and LANDSAT TM. A correlation coefficient of multivariate Q-Q plot with 5% significance level and a variance of initial training are considered as an object function of genetic algorithm in the training normalization process. As a result of normalization of training using the genetic algorithm, it was proved that, for the study area, the mean and variance of each class shifted to the population, and the result showed the possibility of prediction of the distribution of each class.
When negative electron in x-ray tube is accelerated in to a high speed and then the currency of the electron is blocked by the target, x-ray happens by the conversion of the energy. The real area where the fast accelerated electron collides to a target area is called actual focal spot. When the string focused size is observed at the central ray side, where the direction x-ray comes out, the size seems to be reduced. This focus is called effective focal spot. According to radiation angle of x-rays tube, the degree of the negative pole side presents higher value than inclination, the amount of exposed radiation that patient receives differs by the angle of positive pole, which means effective focal spot is the variable. This paper presents the correlation between size of effective focal spot and amount of exposed radiation to the patient by it, and effective research for homogenized dose dispersion by the size of effective focal spot. In conclusion, following the focal size, effective range which was -8cm ~ 0 cm on average, was found and average dose rate was 0.019 R/min. Through this range, for patients with small radiation exposure, image with good density and resolution in aspect of diagnosing will be able to be obtained.
