  • This study is to evaluate the structural performance of columns in concrete moment frame. For this purpose the results of previous experimental studies were collected and compared. The experimental variables considered in this study are existance of lap splice within the possible plastic hinge region during an earthquake, ratio of longitudinal reinforcement axial load and the transverse reinforcement ratio. The strength, deformation, ductility capacity and the length of plastic hinge are compared in this study.

  • Recently, there has been enormous growth in the amount of commercial and scientific data, such as protein sequences, retail transactions, and web-logs. Such datasets consist of sequence data that have an inherent sequential nature. However, only a few of the existing clustering algorithms consider sequentiality. This study presents a method for clustering such sequence datasets. The similarity between sequences must be decided before clustering the sequences. This study proposes a new similarity measure to compute the similarity between two sequences using a sequence element. Two clustering algorithms using the proposed similarity measure are proposed: a hierarchical clustering algorithm and a scalable clustering algorithm that uses sampling and a k-nearest neighbor method. Using a splice dataset and synthetic datasets, we show that the quality of clusters generated by our proposed clustering algorithms is better than that of clusters produced by traditional clustering algorithms.

  • Reinforcing bar coupling method has a variety of ways including lap-splice method. However, there are problems that need to be improved in terms of constructability, economics analysis. We should be improved about the problems of the existing methods. Accordingly, this study were developed a new type of staggered grip type reinforcing bar coupling. The proposed method show the following effects than existing methods. First, this method can be reduce time through improved workability. Second, increasing safety through the slip removal. Third, improving economic efficiency by reduce the manufacturing costs.

  • Hemophilia A is a sex-linked recessive coagulation disorder associated with diverse mutations of the factor VIII gene and a variety of phenotypes. The type of mutation involved dictates the activity of factor VIII, and in turn the severity of bleeding episodes and development of alloantibodies against factor VIII (inhibitors). Missense mutations are the most common genetic risk factors for hemophilia A, especially mild to moderate cases, but carry the lowest risk for inhibitor development. On the other hand, intron 22 inversion is the most common mutation associated with severe hemophilia A and is associated with high risk of inhibitor formation. Large deletions and nonsense mutations are also associated with high risk of inhibitor development. Additional mutations associated with hemophilia A include frameshift and splice site mutations. It is therefore valuable to assess the mutational backgrounds of hemophilia A patients in order to to interpret their symptoms and manage their health problems.

  • In this study mechanical and environment ability of FRP pole for a distribution line about high strength and good insulation properties. The basic filament winding process creates a helical winding pattern. In mechanical analysis of splice with mechanical fastened joint it is important to evaluate a critical load of faster having maximum stress. It is also present a result of several examples to compare this with analytical one. On repair design this finite element method will be used as basis. The influence of environmental factors, such as elevated temperatures, high humidity, and corrosive fluids, and ultraviolet(UV) rays, upon the performance of polymeric matrix composite is of concern in many applications.

  • Experimental investigation was conducted into the flexure/shear-critical behavior of earthquake-damaged reinforced concrete columns with lap splicing of longitudinal reinforcement in the plastic hinge region. Six test specimens in the aspect ratio of 2.5 were made with test parameters: confinement ratios, lap splices, and retrofitting FRP materials. They were damaged under series of artificial earthquakes that could be compatible in Korean peninsula. Directly after the pseudo-dynamic test, damaged columns were retested under inelastic reversal cyclic loading simultaneously under a constant axial load, P = 0.1 $f_{ck}$ $A_{g}$. Residual seismic performance of damaged columns was evaluated and compared to that of the corresponding original columns. Test results show that RC bridge piers with lap-spliced longitudinal steels in the plastic hinge region appeared to fail at low ductility. This was due to the debonding of the lap splice, which resulted from insufficient development of the longitudinal steels. The specimens externally wrapped with composite FRP straps in the potential plastic hinge region indicated significant improvement both in flexural strength and displacement ductility.y.

  • In present Korea Highway Bridge Standards the lap splice of longitudinal bars in a potential plastic hinge region is allowed so that large amount of transverse rebar specified in high seismicity regions Is required to prevent brittle bond failure If the brittle failure effects can be completely removed from the conventional designed piers, the amount of transverse rebar will be reduced drastically. In this study scaled models with solid and hollow rectangular sections were tested to investigate the seismic behavior of RC piers with 50% of lap-spliced longitudinal bars in plastic hinge regions. In the tests the typical flexural failure conducting a ductile behavior were observed in both models. It is shown that the 50% of lap-spliced bars can be considered as a good alternative of seismic detailing for longitudinal bars.

  • For $y{\in}{\mathbb{R}}$, a sequence $x=(x_n){\in}{\ell}^{\infty}$, and a non-negative regular matrix A, Bartoszewicz et. al., in 2015, defined the notion of the A-density ${\delta}_A(y)$ of the indices of those $x_n$ that are close to y. Their main result states that if the set of limit points of ($x_n$) is countable and density ${\delta}_A(y)$ exists for any $y{\in}\mathbb{R}$ where A is a non-negative regular matrix, then ${\lim}_{n{\rightarrow}{\infty}}(Ax)_n={\sum}_{y{\in}{\mathbb{R}}}{\delta}_A(y){\cdot}y$. In this note we first show that the result can be extended to a more general class of matrices and then consider a conjecture which naturally arises from our investigations.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive the cause of the quantity difference and present the considerations when take-off rebar quantity based on BIM model by comparing the quantity of rebar based on BIM model with 2D drawing. This research was limited to take-off the quantity of rebars in the building frame work, and after take-off the quantity of rebars by 3D modeling the 2D drawing of the target building with Revit, the quantity difference was compared with 2D-based software. Therefore, when take-off the quantity of rebars based on the BIM model, instead of take-off the existing 2D-based quantity premium proportion, according to general structural consider development length, lap splice length, covering thickness, reinforcing bars and spacing. In the future, this study is expected to contribute to improving the accuracy of BIM-based frame construction quantity take-off.

  • The present work provides a new solution to both the correct execution and quality control of straight thread couplers for reinforcing bars under monotonic loading conditions. A random survey on already constructed couplers together with a new mechanical model, adjusted with an experimental campaign, led us to present this new procedure in reinforced concrete construction. Formulation and methodology for a correct placement of straight thread couplers is presented.
