Austenite Stability of Sintered Fe-based Alloy (철계 소결합금의 오스테나이트 안정성)

  • In the present study, we investigated the austenite stability of a sintered Fe-based nanocrystalline alloy. The volume fraction of austenite was measured based on the X-ray diffraction data of sintered Fe-based nanocrystalline alloys, which were prepared by high-energy ball milling and spark plasma sintering. The sintered alloy samples showed a higher volume fraction of austenite at room temperature as compared to the equilibrium volume fraction of austenite obtained using thermodynamic calculations, which resulted from the nanosized crystalline structure of the sintered alloy. It was proved that the austenite stability of the sintered Fe-based alloy increased with a rise in the amount of austenite stabilizing elements such as Mn, Ni, and C; however, it increased more effectively with a decrease in the actual grain size. Furthermore, we proposed a new equation to predict the martensite starting temperature for sintered Fe-based alloys.

  • To fabricate low field magnetic sensors using magnetoresistance(MR) effects, we deposited thin layers of $600{\AA}$ in thickness of Ni-Co(0.7Ni-0.3Co) alloy on slide glasses. In the layers we ordered 4 arms of the fullbridge sensors in the shape of grid structure to be inclined at an angle of $45^{\circ}$ to main axis and made the areal rate increase to 67%. While the response characteristics of the fabricated sensors had good linearity in the magnetic field of ${\pm}0.5mT$ ranges, the white noise was 0.2 nV and the voltage sensitivity was 7.6 $nV/{\mu}T$.

T-joint Laser Welding of Circular and Square Pipes Using the Vision Tracking System (용접선 추적 비전장치를 이용한 원형-사각 파이프의 T형 조인트 레이저용접)

  • Because of its fast and precise welding performance, laser welding is becoming a new excellent welding method. However, the precise focusing and robust seam tracking are required to apply laser welding to the practical fields. In order to laser weld a type of T joint like a circular pipe on a square pipe, which could be met in the three dimensional structure such as an aluminum space frame, a visual sensor system was developed for automation of focusing and seam tracking. The developed sensor system consists of a digital CCD camera, a structured laser, and a vision processor. It is moved and positioned by a 2-axis motorized stage, which is attached to a 6 axis robot manipulator with a laser welding head. After stripe-type structured laser illuminates a target surface, images are captured through the digital CCD camera. From the image, seam error and defocusing error are calculated using image processing algorithms which includes efficient techniques handling continuously changed image patterns. These errors are corrected by the stage off-line during welding or teaching. Laser welding of a circular pipe on a square pipe was successful with the vision tracking system by reducing the path positioning and de focusing errors due to the robot teaching or a geometrical variation of specimens and jig holding.

  • With the recent proliferation of the use of semi-structured data such as XML, it becomes more important to efficiently store and manage the semi-structured data. The XML data can be logically modelled as a rooted tree e.g., the DOM tree. In order to process a query on the XML data, we traverse the tree structure. In this paper we present an algorithm that places the XML data to disk blocks. The proposed algorithm assigns a number to each node of the tree in a bottom-up fashion. Then, the nodes are allocated to disk blocks using the assigned number. The proposed algorithm does not need access pattern information, and provides good performance for any access pattern. The characteristics of the proposed method are presented with analysis. Through experiments, we evaluate the performance of the proposed method.

  • Determination method of optimum feeding point for the PIFA type internal antenna for the mobile phone handset was studied. Fundamental theory is that radiated gain is basically depended upon the electric field strength between PIFA conductor and ground plane. Feeding point, slit configuration, material and structure of carrier are main factors fur the PIFA performances. It is shown that maximum electric field strengths of other feeding points decrease in -2dB to -10 dB than optimum point. Ansoft HFSS EM simulator was applied to determine the best feeding point for 2 models of Samsung Electronics mobile phone handset.

  • The $CdAl_2S_4 and CdAl_2S_4 : Co^{2+}$ single crystals were grown by the chemical transport reaction method using iodine as a transport agent. The $CdAl_2S_4 and CdAl_2S_4 : Co^{2+}$single crystals were crystallized into a defect chalcopyrite structure. The optical energy gap of the $CdAl_2S_4 and CdAl_2S_4 : Co^{2+}$ single crystals was found to be 3.377 eV and 2.924 eV, respectively, at 300 K. Blue emission with peaks in 456nm~466nm at 280K was observed in the $CdAl_2S_4$ single crystal. Optical absorption and emission peaks due to impurities in the $CdAl_2S_4 Co^{2+}$ single crystal were observed and described as originating from the electron transition between energy levels of the $Co^{2+} ion sited at the Td symmetry point.

  • In this paper, We proposed extraction method using EZW a specific character and then add watermark significant coefficient of image. After wavelet transform in image, the significant coefficient value add to watermark information image. In this method, the locations of nonzero wavelet coefficients are encoded with a tree structure, called zerotree, which can exploit the self-similarity of the pyramid decomposition across different scales. The simulation shows that this method provides a superior performance over conventional method and can be successfully applied to the application areas that requires of progressive transmission and search for image data.

  • In this paper, we design a secant pattern antenna combined with a septum circular polarizer to be used in the satellite data communications. To generate a radiation pattern with secant type, Fourier relationship between current distribution and space factor is applied and the circular symmetric structure of the aperture simplifies the design. The optimization process is performed by combining the radiator with the septum circular polarizer, and it is confirmed that the designed radiation pattern, axial ratio, and return loss characteristics satisfies the required performance of the antenna.

  • Molecular orbital calculations suggest that an interaction between the psoralen derivatives of excite state and the thymine of ground state is dicussed in terms of their differing abilities to molecular complex. PM3-CI-UHF indicates that photocycloadducts across the C3-C4 and C4'-C5' double bonds of the methylpsoralen and hydroxypsoralen with thymine C5-C6 double bonds were deduced to be formed by their preferable frontier orbital interactions. The electronic properties of psoralen derivatives in the ground and excited states correlate with this difference in structure-activity relationship.

Synthesis of Polyurethane Nanocomposite Filled Inorganic Particles and Their Properties (무기입자를 충전한 폴리우레탄 나노복합체의 합성 및 물성)

  • The nanocomposites with inorganic nano powder, improved thermal stability, were prepared by urethane polymerization. The structure and surface properties of the nanocomposites were determined by X-ray diffraction and FT-IR, respectively. The thermal stabilities were studied using TGA and DSC. Their morphologies and mechanical properties were observed by SEM and UTM. As a result, the nanocomposites with MMT led to the increase of the silicate layers. The distance between layers of the nanacomposites with MMT was increased by $7.5{\AA}$ and the new peaks at $1038cm^{-1}$ were shown in the presence of the Si-O groups on the silica. The thermal stabilities of the nanocomposites were higher than those of pore polyurethane matrix. The nanocomposites had higher in mechanical properties than the pure polyurethane matrix.
