  • Research about hybrid solar air-water heater that can make heated air and hot water was conducted as a part of improving efficiency of solar thermal energy. At this experiment, ability of making heating air and hot water was investigated and compared with traditional solar air heater and flat plate solar collector for hot water when air or liquid was heated respectively. Comparing hybrid solar air-water heater that used in this experiment to other solar air heater studied already, it has a lower efficiency at same mass flow rate. Air channel structure, fin's shape and arrangement in the air channel result in these difference then the ability of air heating need to be improved with changing these thing. In case of making hot water, performance was shown as similar with traditional system although the air channels were established beneath absorbing plate. But the heat loss coefficient was shown higher value by installing of air channel. Also the performance of hot water making was shown lower value at same liquid mass flow rate with traditional flat plate solar collector for hot water. So the necessity of performance improvement at lower mass flow rate of each heating medium can be confirmed.

  • The introduction of confocal microscopy makes it possible to observe the structural change of live neuronal cell. Neuro-degenerative disease, such as Alzheimer;s and Parkinson’s diseases are especially related to the morphological change of dendrite spine. That’s the reason for the study of segmentation and extraction from confocal microscope image. The difficulty comes from uneven intensity distribution and blurred boundary. Therefore, the image processing technique which can overcome these problems and extract the structural information should be suggested. In this paper, we propose robust structural information extracting technique with confocal microscopy images of dendrite in brain neurons. First, we apply the nonlinear diffusion filtering that enhance the boundary recognition. Second, we segment region of interest using iterative threshold selection. Third, we perform skeletonization based on Fast Marching Method that extracts centerline and boundary for analysing segmented structure. The result of the proposed method has been less sensitive to noise and has not been affected by rough boundary condition. Using this method shows more accurate and objective results.

  • Hypocotyls explants of melon seedling were cultured on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium supplemented with 1 mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D) and 0.5 mg/L benzyl aminopurine (BA) for 6 weeks to produce somatic embryos. In somatic embryos produced through intervening bright yellow friable (BYF) from the explants, somatic embryos with two-cotyledon (26%) and horn-type cotyledon (74%) were observed. The procambial strand of cotyledons was originated from circular procambial tissues of lower hypocotyls. The circular procambial independently divided into two procambial strand at the edge of cotyledonary-node, and then connected to each cotyledon to form somatic embryos with two-cotyledon. When cotyledon was horn-type, the circular procambial strand in lower hypocotyls would continuously remain connected to the cotyledon. However, somatic embryos with two or horn type cotyledon formed an abnormal shoot apex without the tunica-corpus structure or dome shape in the inter-cotyledonary area. These results demonstrated that the variation of cotyledon in somatic embryos was closely related to procambial tissue differentiation and shoot apical formation.

  • In order to examine the effects of N-substituted alkyl group on the anticonvulsant activities of N-Cbz-$\alpha$-aminoglutarimides as novel anticonvulsants with broad spectrum, a series of (R) or (S) N-Cbz-$\alpha$-amino-N-alkylglutarimides (1 and 2) were prepared from the corresponding (R) or (S) N-Cbz-glutamic acid and evaluated for the anticonvulsant activities in the maximal electroshock seizure (MES) test and pentylenetetrazol induced seizure(PTZ) test, including the neurotoxicity. The most potent compound in the MES test was (S) N-Cbz-$\alpha$-amino-N-methylglutarimide($ED_{50}$=36.3 mg/kg, PI=1.7). This compound was also most potent in the PTZ test ($ED_{50}$=12.5 mg/kg, PI=5.0). The order of anticonvulsant activities against the MES test as evaluated form $ED_{50}$ values for (R) series was N-methyl > N-H > N-ethyl > N-allyl ; for the (S) series N-methyl > N-H > N-ethyl > N-alkyl > N-isobutyl compound. Against the PTZ tests, the order of anticonvulsant activities showed similar pattern ; for the (R) series, N-methyl > N-H > N-ethyl > N-allyl ; for the (S) series N-methyl > N-H > N-ethyl > N-allyl > N-isobutyl compound. From the above results, N-substituted alkyl groups were though to play an important role for the anticonvulsant activities of N-Cbz-$\alpha$-amino-N-alkylgutarimides.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the glass ceiling induction factors on the improvement of the job Commitment on the glass ceiling perception and to analyze the effect of the organizational Commitment on the influence of the local medical institute and private medical institute employees. As a research method, structural equation model analysis was carried out to investigate the influence relationship of each factor. In particular, multiple group analysis was performed to analyze the difference of influence relations between public and private medical personnel, respectively. Result: First, empirical studies on the effect of the glass ceiling inducing factors on job Commitment showed that job Commitment was influenced by stereotype and organizational culture, and the magnitude of the influence was different. Second, the employees of the room medical center were influenced by perceived promotion, job placement, education and training, reward, and job satisfaction. Third, in the hypothesis that job Commitment will be affected by the perception of glass ceiling, only the workers of the private medical center showed significant results. Based on the results of this study, it will be necessary to plan policies to improve the perception of the glass ceiling phenomenon and improve its status in order to improve the personnel and system with which women workers in the medical field can enter more senior management positions.

  • Synthesis of well-defined particle with tunable size, shape, and functionalities is strongly emphasized for various applications such as chemistry, biology, material science, chemical engineering, medicine, and biotechnology. This study presents micromolding method for the fabrication of anisotropic particles with elegant control of curvature of covex roof. For the demostration of rapid fabrication of the particles, we have applied polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) micromold as structure guiding template and wetting fluid to control curvature of roof of the particles. Based on this approach, we can control the radius of curvature from $20{\mu}m$ to $70{\mu}m$ with different aspect ratio of mold. In addition, wetting fluids with different wetting properties can also modulate the height and radius of curvature of the particles. We envision that this methodology is promising tool for precise control of particle shape in 3-dimensional space and new synthetic route for anisotropic particles with cost effective, simple, easy, and fast procedure.

  • An external cavity laser operating at near infrared wavelength is demonstrated by incorporating polymer waveguide Bragg reflectors. 3rd order Bragg grating and oversized rip waveguide structure were designed by using the effective index method and the transmission matrix method. The polymer waveguide was fabricated using polymer materials with refractive indices of 1.462 and 1.435 for the core and the cladding layers, respectively. The external feedback laser with 875-nm Bragg grating exhibits single mode lasing located at 850-nm wavelength with an output power of 0 dBm, a 20-dB bandwidth of 0.2 nm and a side mode suppression ratio of 40 dB.

  • Cu(InGa)(SeS2) (CIGS) thin film solar cells have recently reached an efficiency of 20%. Recent studies suggest a double graded band gap structure of the CIGS absorber layer to be a key issue in the production of high efficiency thin film solar cell using by sputtering process method. In this study, Cu(InGa)(SeS2) absorbers were manufactured by selenization and surfulization, we have deposited CIG precusor by sputtering and Se layer by evaporation before selenization. The objective of this study is to find out surfulization effects to improve Voc and to compare with non-surfulization Cu(InGa)Se2 absorbers. Even if we didn't analysis Ga depth profile of Cu(InGa)(SeS2) absorbers, we confirmed increasing of Eg and Voc through surlization process. In non-surfulization Cu(InGa)Se2 absorbers, Eg and Voc are 0.96eV and 0.48V. Whereas Eg and Voc of Cu(InGa)(SeS2) absorbers are 1.16eV and 0.57V. And the efficiency of 9.58% was achieved on 0.57cm2 sized SLG substrate. In this study, we will be discussed to improve Eg and Voc through surfulization and the other method without H2S. gas.

  • Second-order rate constants ($k_{Ox^-}$) have been measured spectrophotometrically for nucleophilic substitution reactions of 4-nitrophenyl X-substituted-cinnamates (7a-7e) and Y-substituted-phenyl cinnamates (8a-8e) with butane-2,3-dione monoximate ($Ox^-$) in 80 mol % $H_2O$/20 mol % DMSO at $25.0{\pm}0.1^{\circ}C$. The Hammett plot for the reactions of 7a-7e consists of two intersecting straight lines while the Yukawa-Tsuno plot exhibits an excellent linearity with ${\rho}_X$=0.85 and r=0.58, indicating that the nonlinear Hammett plot is not due to a change in the rate-determining step but is caused by resonance stabilization of the ground state (GS) of the substrate possessing an electron-donating group (EDG). The Br${\o}$nsted-type plot for the reactions of Y-substituted-phenyl cinnamates (8a-8e) is linear with ${\beta}_{lg}$ = -0.64, which is typical of reactions reported previously to proceed through a concerted mechanism. The ${\alpha}$-nucleophile ($Ox^-$) is more reactive than the reference normal-nucleophile ($4-ClPhO^-$). The magnitude of the ${\alpha}$-effect (i.e., the $k_{Ox^-}/k_{4-ClPhO^-}$ ratio) is independent of the electronic nature of the substituent X in the nonleaving group but increases linearly as the substituent Y in the leaving group becomes a weaker electron-withdrawing group (EWG). It has been concluded that the difference in solvation energy between $Ox^-$ and $4-ClPhO^-$ (i.e., GS effect) is not solely responsible for the ${\alpha}$-effect but stabilization of transition state (TS) through a cyclic TS structure contributes also to the Y-dependent ${\alpha}$-effect trend (i.e., TS effect).
