Improving The Breakdown Characteristics of AlGaN/GaN HEMT by Optimizing The Gate Field Plate Structure (게이트 필드플레이트 구조 최적화를 통한 AlGaN/GaN HEMT 의 항복전압 특성 향상)

  • In this paper, we optimize the gate field plate structure to improve breakdown characteristics of AlGaN/GaN HEMT by two-dimensional device simulator. We have simulated using three parameters such as field-plate length, types of insulator, and insulator thickness and thereby we checked change of the electric field distribution and breakdown voltage characteristics. As optimizing field-plate structure, electric fields concentrated near the gate edge and field-plate edge are effectively dispersed. Therefore, avalanche effect is decresed, so breakdown voltage characteristic is increased. As a result breakdown characteristics of optimized gate field-plate structure are increased by about 300% compared to those of the standard structure.

  • Unlike structures in the air, the vibration analysis of a submerged or floating structure such as offshore structures is possibly only when the fluid-structures is understood, as the whole or part of the structure is in contact with water. Through the comparision between the experimental result and the finite element analysis result for a simple cylindrical model, it was verified that an added mass effects on the cylindrical structure. Using the commercial FEA program ANSYS(v.11.0), underwater added mass was superposed on the mass matrix of the structure. A frequency response analysis of forced vibration in the frequency considered the dynamic load was also performed. It was proposed to find the several important modes of resonance peak for these fixed cylindrical type structures. Furthermore, it is expected that the analysis method and the data in this study can be applied to a dynamic structural design and dynamic performance evaluation for the ground and marine purpose of power generator by wind.

  • DoD makes efforts to develop Capability-Based Force Structure through NCW and requirements. MND makes efforts to develop capability based force development and management for dynamic security environment and wartime command and control, however it seems to be very difficult to develop Capability-Based Force Structure without the concept and development method of integrated capability. The purpose of this paper is to make "An Integrated Capability Framework of Capability Based Force Structure" which presents integral capability of Enterprise. This framework contains the concept of force operation and force development view based on defense force life cycle.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish a design method of tower service lift for offshore wind power system, as well as to conduct structure analysis of the service lift system. The service lift system will be built in the internal area of tower of the offshore wind power system. Design and structure analysis for the tower service lift system are conducted to clarify the stability and reliability of the system. Main objective of the design is to secure sufficient capability of transportation of workers and equipment with satisfactory performance within the designed tolerance limit. Total deformation and equivalent stress of the lift system by external load are examined using the results of structure analysis.

  • Acceleration sensors are usually used to measure the vibration of a structure. Although this is the most accurate method, it cannot be used remotely because these are contact-type sensors. This makes measurement difficult in areas that cannot be easily approached by surveyors, such as structures located in high or dangerous areas. Therefore, a method that can measure the structural vibration without installing sensors is required for the vibration measurement of structures located in these areas. Many conventional studies have been carried out on non-contact-type vibration measurement methods using cameras. However, they have been applied to structures with relatively large vibration displacements such as buildings or bridges, and since most of them use targets, people still have to approach the structure to install the targets. Therefore, a new method is required to supplement the weaknesses of the conventional methods. In this paper, a method is proposed to measure vibration displacements remotely using a camera without having to approach the structure. Furthermore, an estimation method for the measurement resolution and measurement error is proposed for the vibration displacement of a cylindrical structure measured using the proposed measurement method. The proposed methods are described, along with experimental results that verify their accuracy.

  • The development of a vehicle-mounted radar to detect the location of enemy artillery is mainly mounted during operation to the mobility of the equipment and efficiency of utilization range. It is equipped with an electronic device responsible for the operation of the radar system. Electronic equipments is performed functionality imparted without an error-specific in spite of disturbances such as vibration / shock caused by vehicle movement. Therefore, vibration / shock resistance is held to prevent damaging from vibration / shock generated from the outside environment during operation. In addition, a standardized and specified cabinet structure equipped with electronic equipment is placed in shelter to ensure additional safety for vibration / shock. In this study, it is evaluated by analytical method with vibration / shock resistance of the cabinet structures for ensuring structural safety factor is applied to the aluminum. It is verified the reliability of the structure and structural dynamics to verify by calculated natural frequencies adding the weight of the cabinet structure and the structural displacement and stress results confirmed with vibration / shock caused by the vehicle movement.

Analysis of the Globular Nature of Proteins

  • Numerous restraints and simplifications have been developed for methods that anticipate protein structure to reduce the colossal magnitude of possible conformational states. In this study, we investigated if globularity is a general characteristic of proteins and whether they can be applied as a valid constraint in protein structure simulations with approximated measurements (Gb-index). Unexpectedly, most of the proteins showed strong structural globularity (i.e., mode of approximately 76% similarity to the perfect globe) with only a few percent of proteins being outliers. Small proteins tended to be significantly non-globular ($R^2$=0.79) and the minimum Gb-index showed a logarithmic increase with the increase in protein size ($R^2$=0.62), strongly implying that the non-globular characteristics might be more acceptable for smaller proteins than larger ones. The strong perfect globe-like character and the relationship between small size and the loss of globular structure of a protein may imply that living organisms have mechanisms to aid folding into the globular structure to reduce irreversible aggregation. This also implies the possible mechanisms of diseases caused by protein aggregation, including some forms of trinucleotide repeat expansion-mediated diseases.

Receiver Design for Satellite Navigation Signals using the Tiered Differential Polyphase Code

  • Modernized GNSS signal structures tend to use tiered codes, and all GNSSs use binary codes as secondary codes. However, recently, signals using polyphase codes such as Zadoff-Chu sequence have been proposed, and are expected to be utilized in GNSS. For example, there is Tiered Differential Polyphase Code (TDPC) using polyphase code as secondary code. In TDPC, the phase of secondary code changes every one period of the primary code and a time-variant error is added to the carrier tracking error, so carrier tracking ambiguity exists until the secondary code phase is found. Since the carrier tracking ambiguity cannot be solved using the general GNSS receiver architecture, a new receiver architecture is required. Therefore, in this paper, we describe the carrier tracking ambiguity and its cause in signal tracking, and propose a receiver structure that can solve it. In order to prove the proposed receiver structure, we provide three signal tracking results. The first is the differential decoding result (secondary code sync) using the general GNSS receiver structure and the proposed receiver structure. The second is the IQ diagram before and after multiplying the secondary code demodulation when carrier tracking ambiguity is solved using the proposed receiver structure. The third is the carrier tracking result of the legacy GPS (L1 C/A) signal and the signal using TDPC.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors which influenced the quality of life of elderly women living alone or with the spouse. A survey using interview was administered to 221 elderly women living in Seoul and Pusan The major findings were as follows: 1) The family life satisfaction of elderly women was determined by the quality of relationship with her eldest son's wife shared activities financial strain and location. The determinants of consumer life satisfaction were financial strain materialism tenure and the number of income sources, Housing life satisfaction was influenced by the convenience of neighborhood facilities tenure and housing structure type. 2) The quality of relationship with her eldest son's wife social activities financial strain tenure and the reason for independent household formation explained the variance of the life satisfaction about 29% by using a stepwise multiple regression method.

  • In establishing a simulation program for hydraulic valves, it is always a big obstacle to incorporate correctly flow forces on valve body into the simulation program. This paper suggests a method to estimate flow forces on spool in proportional directional/flow control valves with spool structure. Furthermore, suggests a way to obtain simulation program for spool valves, in which flow force mechanism is fully reflected.
