A Characteristic of Autogenous shrinkage and Dry shrinkage for High Performance Concrete Using Type I and Type IV Cement (1종 및 4종시멘트를 이용한 고성능 콘크리트의 자기수축 및 건조수축 특성)

  • In this study, the properties of autogenous shrinkage and dry shrinkage for high performance concrete using Type I and Type IV cement were discussed. According to experimental results, autogenous shrinkage of SN30(the high performance concrete using type I cement) shows values higher than SL30( the high performance concrete using type IV cement). But the dry shrinkage of SN30 is almost the same as SL30. It is observed that the total shrinkage strain of SN30 is higher than that of SL30, because the ratio of autogenous shrinkage of the total shrinkage is relatively large. Therefore, SL30 is more effective to control or minimize the cracking of the high performance concrete, compared with SN30.

  • Fifty ancient Korean coins originated in Choson dynasty have been determined for 9 elements such as Sn, Fe, As, Ag, Co, Sb, Ir, Ru and Ni by instrumental neutron activation analysis and for 3 elements such as Cu, Pb, and Zn by atomicalsorption spectrometry. Bronze coins originated in early days of the dynasty contain as major constituents Cu, Pb and Sn approximately in the ratio 90 : 4 : 3, where as, those in latter days contain in the ratio 7 : 2 : 0. Brass coins which had begun in 17century contain as major constituents Cu, Zn and Pb approximately in the ratio 7 : 1: 1. The multivariate date have been analyzed for the relation among elemental contents through the variance-covariance matrix. The data have been fur theranalyzed by a principal component mapping method. As the results training set of 8class have been chosen, based on the spread of sample points in an eigenvector plotand archaeolgical data such as age and the office of minting.

  • The dehydrocyclization of n-heptane was studied over $Pt-Sn/{\gamma}-Al/_2O_3$ catalysts with varying Sn content in a fixed bed continuous flow reactor. The range of experimental conditions was at the temperature between 450 and $550^{\circ}C$, the pressure $20{\times}10^5-50{\times}10^5Pa$, the contact time 0.09 and 0.27 hr and the $H_2/H.C$. mole ratio 10. The conversion and selectivity of dehydrocyclization increased with increasing temperature, but decreased with increasing pressure. When we use Sn as a promoter, the selectivity of dehydrocyclization changesa a little, but the conversion was increased and the selectivity of isomerization increased a lot. The activation energy of dehydrocyclization of n-heptane was 34.5 kcal/mol over 0.6 wt % Pt-0.6 wt % $Sn/{\gamma}-Al_2O_3$.

Quality Characteristics of Strawberry Cultivated with Natural Organic Manure (천연 유기질 비료로 재배한 딸기의 품질 특성)

  • The use of artificially synthesized inorganic manure for the production of fruits and vegetables gives rise to soil contamination as well as noxious effects against human. Changes in quality of strawberry (SN) cultivated with a natural organic manure developed to solve such problems were studied during storage at 4$^{\circ}$C for 2 weeks. SN showed higher weight/volume ratio and lower weight loss during storage than strawberry (control) cultivated with commercial synthetic mature. Sweetness was higher in SN (9.2 Brix) than in control (8.2 Brix), and decrease in sweetness during storage was smaller in SN than in control. Redness (b) of strawberry was 32.1 in SN and 30.2 in control, and the redness decreased during storage showing 25.2 and 23.0, respectively, after 2 weeks. Hardness was higher in SN than in control, and decrease in hardness during storage was smaller in SN than in control. Vitamin C content was slightly higher in SN than in control, and mineral contents were generally higher in SN than in control.

SO2 Reduction with CO over SnO2-ZrO2(Sn/Zr=2/1) Catalyst for Direct Sulfur Recovery Process with Coal Gas: Optimization of the Reaction Conditions and Effect of H2O Content (석탄가스를 이용한 직접 황 회수공정을 위한 SnO2-ZrO2(Sn/Zr=2/1) 촉매 상에서의 CO에 의한 SO2 환원 반응: 반응조건 최적화 및 수분의 영향)

  • In this study, the reactivity of a $SnO_2-ZrO_2$(Sn/Zr = 2/1) catalyst for $SO_2$ reduction by CO was investigated in order to optimize the various reaction conditions such as temperature, gas hourly space velocity (GHSV), and [CO]/[$SO_2$] molar ratio. The reaction temperature in the range of $300{\sim}550^{\circ}C$, space velocity in the range of $5000{\sim}30000cm^3/[g_{-cat}{\cdot}h]$ and [CO]/[$SO_2$] molar ratio in the range of 1.0~4.0 were employed. The optimum temperature, GHSV, and [CO]/[$SO_2$] molar ratio were determined to be $325^{\circ}C$, $10000cm^3/[g_{-cat}{\cdot}h]$, and 2.0, respectively; under these conditions, $SO_2$ conversion was over 99% and sulfur selectivity was over 95%. In addition, the effect of $H_2O$ content on the $SO_2$ reduction by CO was also investigated. As the $H_2O$ content increased from 2 vol% up to 6 vol%, the reactivity and sulfur selectivity decreased. In case of 2 vol% $H_2O$ content, the reaction temperature and [CO]/[$SO_2$] molar ratio were varied in the range of $300{\sim}400^{\circ}C$ and 1.0~3.0. The optimum temperature and [CO]/[$SO_2$] molar ratio were $340^{\circ}C$ and 2.0, respectively under which $SO_2$ conversion and sulfur selectivity were about 90% and 87%, respectively.

Adhesion Improvement of Electroless Copper Plated Layer on PET Film - Effect of Pretreatment Conditions - (무전해 동도금 피막의 접착력 향상에 관한 연구 - PET 필름의 전처리 조건의 영향 -)

  • Cu/PET film composites were prepared by electroless copper plating method. In order to improve adhesion between electroless Cu plated layer and polyester (PET) film, the effect of pretreatment conditions such as etching method and mixed catalyst composition, and accelerator was investigated. Compared to NaOH etching medium, PET film was more finely etched by HCl solution, resulting in an improvement in adhesion between Cu layer and PET film. However, there were no significant differences in electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness as a function of etching medium. The surface morphology of Cu plated PET film revealed that Pd/Sn colloidal particles became more evenly distributed in the smaller size by increasing the molar ratio of PdCl$_2$ : SnCl$_2$ from 1 : 4 to 1 : 16. With increasing the molar ratio of mixed catalyst, the adhesion and the shielding effectiveness of Cu plated PET film were increased. Furthermore, HCl was turned out to be a better accelerator than NaOH in order to enhance the activity of the mixed PdCl$_2$/SnCl$_2$ catalyst, which facilitated the formation of more uniform copper deposit on the PET film.

Synthesis of Structured Lipids from Corn Oil and Conjugated Linoleic Acid in the Continuous Type Reactor (연속식 반응기를 이용한 Conjugated Linoleic Acid 함유 재구성지질의 합성 연구)

  • Structured lipids (SL) were synthesized by transesterification of corn oil and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in the continuous type reactor using sn-1,3 specific Rhizomucor miehei lipase. The parameters of reaction were observed in terms of flow rate, temperature, and substrate molar ratios. The highest incorporation of CLA was obtained with 1 mL/min flow rate, 55$^{\circ}C$ and 1 : 3 (corn oil/CLA) molar ratio, showing 10.26 ㏖%. When different reaction temperatures and substrate ratios were studied, the highest incorporation was obtained at $65^{\circ}C$ (17.33 ㏖%) and 1 : 5 (corn oil/CLA) ratio (17.50 ㏖%), respectively. After pancreatic lipase analysis, most of all CLA were found at sn-1,3 position. The iodine values of obtained SLs ranged from 110 to 120. From the neutral lipid analysis by normal-phase HPLC, produced SLs composed of 99.35 ∼ 99.89% triacylglycerols, 0.11 ∼ 0.51% 1,2- and 1,3-diacylglycerols, and 0.06 ∼ 0.22% monoacylglycerols.

  • Indium Zinc Tin Oxide (IZTO) thin films were developed as an alternative to Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) thin films. ITO material which has been acknowledged with its low resistivity and optical transparency of 85-90% has been used as major transparent conducting oxide (TCO) materials. However, due to the limited source, high price, and instability problems at high temperature of indium, many researches has been focused on indium-saving TCO materials. Mason Group of Northwestern University was reported to expand the solubility limit up to 40% by co-doping with 1:1 ratio of $Zn^{+2}$ and $Sn^{+4}$ ions. In this study, the properties of IZTO thin films corresponding to Zn/Sn different ratio were investigated. In addition, the effect of substrate temperature variable to the structural, optical and electrical properties of IZTO thin films was investigated.

A Study on the Annealing Effect of SnO Nanostructures with High Surface Area (높은 표면적을 갖는 SnO 나노구조물의 열처리 효과에 관한 연구)

  • Tin dioxide, $SnO_2$, is a well-known n-type semiconductor that shows change in resistance in the presence of gas molecules, such as $H_2$, CO, and $CO_2$. Considerable research has been done on $SnO_2$ semiconductors for gas sensor applications due to their noble property. The nanomaterials exhibit a high surface to volume ratio, which means it has an advantage in the sensing of gas molecules. In this study, SnO nanoplatelets were grown densely on Si substrates using a thermal CVD process. The SnO nanostructures grown by the vapor transport method were post annealed to a $SnO_2$ phase by thermal CVD in an oxygen atmosphere at $830^{\circ}C$ and $1030^{\circ}C$. The pressure of the furnace chamber was maintained at 4.2 Torr. The crystallographic properties of the post-annealed SnO nanostructures were investigated by Raman spectroscopy and XRD. The change in morphology was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. As a result, the SnO nanostructures were transformed to a $SnO_2$ phase by a post-annealing process.

Restoration and Scientific Analysis of Casting Bronze Type in Joseon Dynasty (조선왕실 주조 청동활자의 복원과 과학적 분석)

  • After replicating 10 bronze types such as Gyemija, Gyeongjaja, Eulhaeja, etc. before the Imjin war, we studied the change of microstructure from each casting process, method, and alloy ratio by Gyechukja replicated from "Donggukyeojiseungnam". We selected the average of compositions of Eulhaeja in the National Museum of Korea as the standard(Cu 86.7%, Sn: 9.7%, Pb: 2.3%) of bronze types, so we decided on the alloy's composition of Cu 87%, Sn 15%, Pb 8% added to 5% Sn and Pb contents because of evaporating the Sn and the Pb. Before replicating major metal types, we made master-alloy first, melting it again, and then replicated metal types. The composition of the 1'st replicated Gyechukja showed the range of Cu 85.81~87.63%, Sn 9.27~10.51%, Pb 3.05~3.19%. The 2'nd replicated Gyechukja made using the branch metal left after casting the 1st replica. The 2nd replicated Gyechukja showed the composition range of Cu 87.21~88.09%, Sn 9.06~9.36%, Pb 2.80~3.05%. This result decreases a little contents of Sn and Pb as compared with metal types of the 1st replica. However, it's almost the same as the Eulhaeja's average composition ratio in the National Museum of Korea. As a result of observing the microstructure of restored Gyechukja, it showed the dendrite structure of the typical casting structure and the segregation of Pb. There is no big difference of microstructure between the 1st and the 2nd restored metal types, even though the 2nd restored types partially decreases the eutectoid region in comparison with the 1st types. The systematic and scientific restoration experiment of metal types using Joseon period will be showed the casting method and alloy ratio, and this will be of great help to the study of restoration metal types in the future.
