  • Two current approaches for modeling the vector magnetic hysteretic process are the vector Preisach models and those models based on a system of noninteracting pseudo-particles. The pseudo-particles are intended to mimic the average behavior of real media particles. The simplest switching mechanisms of pseudoparticles is the Stoner-Wholfarth model. The Preisach models are quite precise in specifying the experimental input to the models. The vector properties of the Preisach models are, however, inadequate. This is partly because of the questionable assumptions used in coupling the various vector hysteresis components. Also these models do not include reversible magnetization changes. Unlike Preisach counterpart, the Stoner-Wholfarth model is inherently vector in nature. This is because spatial distribution and switching mechanisms are imposed on the system of pseudo-particles, so they come closer to representing the physical reality. The lack of interaction between pseudo-particles exclude the usefulness of the Stoner-Wholfarth model for small fields when the medium is traversing minor loops. The present work is an attempt at combining the advantages of above two models into one composite model, including the effect of particle interaction.

  • Hysteresis current control is one of the simplest techniques used to control currents for high speed drive systems, because of its simplicity of implementation, fast current control response, and inherent peak current limiting capability. However the conventional fixed-band hysteresis control has a variable switching frequency throughout the fundamental period, and consequently the load current harmonics spreaded on the wide frequency range. In this paper, a simple, novel alterative approach is proposed for a variable-hysteresis band current controller which uses feedback techniques to achieve constant switching frequency with good dynamic response. The method is easily implemented in hardware, the resultant controller is easily tuned to a particular load, and has good immunity to variation in PV parameter and dc supply voltage.

  • In case of a high-speed D.I. diesel engine. the injected fuel spray is unavoidable that the impinging on the wall of piston cavity and in this case the geometry of piston cavity has a great influence on the atomization structure and air flow fields. In the field of combustion and in many other spray applications, there are clear evidence of correlation between spray structure and emission of pollutants. Ordinary, the combustion chamber of driving engine have unsteady turbulent flow be attendant on such as the change of temperature, velocity and pressure. So the analysis of spray behavior is difficult. In this study, a single spray was impinged on each cavity wall at indicated angle in a quiescent atmosphere at room temperature and pressure, as being the simplest case, and 3 types of piston cavity such as Dish, Toroidal and Re-entrant type was tested for analyzing the influence of cavity geometry. And hot wire probe was used for analyze non-steady flow characteristics of impinging spray, and to investigate the behavior of spray, the aspects of concentration c(t), standard deviation $\sigma(t)$ and variation factor (v.f.) was measured with the lapse of time.

  • Since LINAC-based stereotactic radiosurgery uses multiple noncoplanar arcs, three-dimensional dose evaluation and many beam parameters, a lengthy computation time is required to optimize even the simplest case by a trial and error. The basic approach presented in this paper is to show promising methods using an experimental optimization and an analytic optimization The purpose of this paper is not to describe the detailed methods, but introduce briefly, proceeding research done currently or in near future. A more detailed description will be shown in ongoing published papers. Experimental optimization is based on two approaches. One is shaping the target volumes through the use of multiple isocenters determined from dose experience and testing. The other method is conformal therapy using a beam's eye view technique and field shaping. The analytic approach is to adapt computer-aided design optimization in finding optimum irradiation parameters automatically.

  • This paper intends to review possible application in the high strength area through compressive strength estimation of the simulated high strength concrete member using Rock Test Hammer and suggest it as a reference data for the strength estimation technique of the ultra high strength concrete in the future. From the results of our test, in the low strength area less than 15MPa and normal strength area in 15~60MPa, as shown on the existing studies, it is indicated that P Type Schmidt Hammer in the low strength area and N Type Schmidt Hammer in the normal strength area have high correlation of rebound-compressive strength. As the Rock Test Hammer indicated more or less reduced accuracy in the low strength area and the normal strength area but high correlation on the high strength area (50~100MPa) defined on this test, it is determined that it would be possible to make the fastest and simplest compressive strength estimation on the site where the high strength concrete is applied.

  • Sound focusing technologies has been studied for various purposes from early 1990s. As a result, these technologies make us possible to apply in many uses. For example, we can treat tumors using focused ultrasonic waves without surgical knife and communicate in the ocean using time reversal array. Also applications for personal audio system become issues. Recently, as technologies are developing, in some applications, needs for regional focusing become increasing because previously suggested focusing methods, such as phase conjugation, time reversal and inverse filtering, were all about a point focusing. Therefore, studies on regional focusing method are essentially needed. Regional focusing method was firstly mentioned by Choi and Kim in 2002: acoustic contrast control. However, in regional focusing, physical interpretations between control variables and results are still not easy because of its complexity. In this regard, we tried to understand the relations between control variables and results in wavenumber domain and suggested a solution method for regional focusing: wavenumber spectrum matching. We also showed how to make spatially focused sound shape using the suggested method from the simplest case: line focusing.

  • In this paper, the optimal command input is considered in order to minimize the residual vibrations of a flexible cantilever beam when the beam simply changes its position by translation or rotation. Although a cantilever beam has many modes of vibration, it is shown that the consideration of the first mode is sufficient in this case. Thus, the problem becomes a singledegree-of-freedom system subjected to a ground excitation. Two simple methods are proposed to find the optimal command input based on the Shock Response Spectrum (SRS). The first method is the simplest and can be applied to lightly damped cases, and the second method is applicable to more general problems. The second method gives almost the same results as the input shaping method. However the proposed method gives a easier and clearer control strategy.

  • Acoustic holography allows us to predict spatial pressure distribution on any surface of interest from measured hologram. It is noteworthy that the data size is so huge that it takes long time to calculate pressure field. Moreover the reconstructed pressure field is frequently too complicated to get what we want to know. One possible candidate is complex envelope. Complex envelope in time domain is well known and widely used in various engineering field. We have attempted to extend this method to space domain, so that we can have rather simple spatial pressure picture that provides information we need, for example, where sound sources are. First we start with the simplest case. We examine the complex envelope of a plane wave on both space and wave number domain. Then we extend to monopole case. Holographic reconstructed sound field on the monopole is processed according to what we propose. We demonstrate how this method provides better picture for analyzing the sound field.

  • In this study, 1 investigated some properties on the special hyper-dimensional figures made by the principle of the performance of equivalent forms representation. I supposed 2 definitions on the making n-dimensional figure : a cone type(hypercube) and a pillar type(simplex). We can explain that there exists only 6 4-dimensional regular polytopes as there exists only 5 regular polygons. And there are many hyper-dimensional figures, they all have sufficient condition to show the general Euler' Characteristics. And especially, we could certificate that the simplest cone type and pillar types are fitted to Pascal's Triangle and Hasse's Diagram, each other.

  • A comprehensive psychophysical scaling system, multiple-modality magnitude estimation system (MMES) has been designed to measure subjective multidimensional human perception. Unlike paper-based magnitude estimation systems, the MMES has an additional auditory peripheral cue that varies with corresponding visual magnitude. As the simplest, purely psychological case, bimodal divided-attention conditions were simulated to establish the superiority of the MMES. Subjects were given brief presentations of pairs of simultaneous stimuli consisting of visual line-lengths and auditory white-noise levels. In the visual or auditory focused-attention conditions, only the line-lengths or the noise levels perceived should be reported respectively. On the other hand, in the divided-attention conditions, both the line-lengths and the noise levels should be reported. There were no significant differences among the different attention conditions. Human performance was better when the proportion of magnitude in stimulus pairs were identically presented. The additional auditory cues in the MMES improved the correlations between the magnitude of stimuli and MMES values in the divided-attention conditions.
