Unsteady Flow Analysis around an Elliptic Cylinder (타원형 실린더 주위의 비정상 유동 해석)

  • Two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes flow solver is developed using SIMPLER method to study the unsteady viscous flow physics over two-dimensional ellipses. Unsteady viscous flows over various thickness-to-chord ratios of 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2 elliptic cylinders are simulated at different Reynolds numbers of 200, 400, and 1,000. This study is focused on the understanding the effects of Reynolds number and elliptic cylinder thickness on the drag and lift forces. The present numerical solutions are compared with available experimental and numerical results and show a good agreement. Through this study, it is observed that the Reynolds number and the cylinder thickness affect not only the frequency of the force oscillations but also the mean values and the amplitudes of the total drag and lift forces significantly.

Analysis for Spray Flow Using PSIC Model in Combustion Chamber of Liquid Rocket Engine (PSIC 모델을 이용한 액체로켓의 연소실내 분무유동 해석)

  • A numerical study for spray flow of fuel and oxidizer droplets in the combustion chamber has been conducted prior to the analysis of spray combustion of the liquid rocket engine. As the spray combustion model, DSF model and Euler-Lagrange scheme have been used. While the coupling effects of the droplets between gas phase and evaporated vapor have been calculated using PSIC model, SIMPLER algorithm and QUICK scheme have been used as numerical schemes. As the results, the calculations have shown velocity and temperature distribution in combustion chamber as well as mole fraction of fuel and oxidizer.

  • In this paper, we provide an efficient method of user selection for achieving the maximum system throughput in downlink multiuser Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) systems. A proposed method is for selecting a fine user set only with powers of each user channel and angles between them. This algorithm is simpler than SUS because there is no considering about the optimal value of correlation. The proposed method finds the user set toward maximizing system throughput, so it has high performance.

A New Approach to the Analysis of Multi-span Continuous Beams (다경간(多徑間) 연속(連續)보의 해석(解析)에 관한 새로운 방법(方法))

  • The moment distribution method has been widely used for the past sixty years for determining the end moments of structural frames. However, the method trends to show more complexity of the procedures and approximation of the results as the degree of indeterminancy increases. The previous study proposed closed form formulas for the analysis of the continuous beams up to four spans. These formulars show simpler forms and provide perfectly rigorous solution in comparision with the moment distribution method. This study proposes closed form formulas for the analysis of multi-span continuous beams which are basically similar to the equations developed in the previous study. It is shown that these formulars may also produce more rigorous results and lead to simpler calculation processes. The proposed approach may be one of the new methods for the analysis of multi-span continuous beams or the rigid frames.

  • A numerical study for spray combustion of fluctuated fuel and oxidizer droplets injected into combustion chamber has been conducted for the analysis of spray combustion considering characteristics of injector. The 2 dimensional unsteady state flow fields have been calculated by using QUICK Scheme and SIMPLER Algorithm. As the spray model, DSF model and Euler-Lagrange Scheme have been used. The sine Auction has been used for droplet fluctuation model of fuel and oxidizer, while the coupling effects of the droplets between gas phase and evaporated vapor have been calculated by using PSIC model.

  • We present a web document summarizer, simpler more condense than the existing ones, of a search engine. This summarizer generates summaries with a statistic-based summarization method using Clustering or MMR technique to reduce redundancy in the results, and that generates summaries using Perfect Link Graph. We compare the results with the summaries generated by human subjects. For the comparison, we use FScore. Our experimental results verify the accuracy of the summarization methods.

It is needed to adopt the demands and the evaluations of the users, so that to develop user-centered games, yet easier and simpler, to increase their popularity and to improve their productivity. On this basis, the study presents the methods of improving game designs by repeating application of the assessment of the game, through the development of prototype in the Int stage of game project.

  • In this paper, we present a method of realizing an infinite impulse response (IIR) digital filter (DF)using linear delta modulation (LDM) as a simple analog/digital (A/D) converter. This method makes the realization of IIR digital filters much simpler than that of conventional ones because it does not require hardware multipliers and a pulse code modulation (PCM) A/D converter. Compared to the finite impulse respponse (FIR) LDMDF of Lee and Un [1] , this IIR LDMDF requires significantly less computation time.

  • Although variable-length codes (VLCs) increase coding efficiency using the statistical characteristics of the source data, they have catastrophic effects from bit errors in noisy transmission environments. In order to overcome this problem with VLCs, reversible variable-length codes (RVLCS) have recently been proposed owing to their data recovering capability. RVLCS can be divided into two categories: symmetrical and asymmetrical RVLCs. Although the symmetrical RVLC has generally more overheads than the asymmetrical RVLC, it has some advantages of simpler design and more efficient memory usage. However, existing symmetrical RVLCs still have high complexity in their code design and some room for improvement in coding efficiency. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for constructing a symmetrical RVLC from the optimal Huffman code table. The proposed algorithm has a simpler design process and also demonstrates improved performance in terms of the average codeword length relative to the existing symmetrical RVLC algorithms.
