Minimum Net profit Project Deleting Algorithm for Choice of Facility Expansion Projects Problem

  • This paper suggests heuristic algorithm with O(m) linear time complexity for choice of expansion projects that can't be obtain the optimal solution using linear programming until now. This algorithm ascending sort of net profit for all projects. Then, we apply a simple method that deletes the project with minimum net profit until this result satisfies the carried over for n-years more than zero value. While this algorithm using simple rule, not the linear programing fails but the proposed algorithm can be get the optimal solution for experimental data.

Study on the 3D Modeling Data Conversion Algorithm from 2D Images (2D 이미지에서 3D 모델링 데이터 변환 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, the algorithm which can convert a 2D image into a 3D Model will be discussed. The 2D picture drawn by a user is scanned for image processing. The Canny algorithm is employed to find the contour. The waterfront algorithm is proposed to find foreground image area. The foreground area is segmented to decompose the complex shapes into simple shapes. Then, simple segmented foreground image is converted into 3D model to become a complex 3D model. The 3D conversion formular used in this paper is also discussed. The generated 3D model data will be useful for 3D animation and other 3D contents creation.

  • An adaptive subcarrier allocation scheme based on comparative superiority of opportunity cost between groups is proposed for the enhancement of system capacity and its simple implementation at the base station of a multiuser OFDM system. The proposed algorithm is similar to the blockwise or the decentralized subcarrier allocation algorithm proposed by Xiaowen et al and Alen et al, respectively. In the proposed algorithm, however, all subcarriers are grouped according to the coherence bandwidth and the comparative superiority concept, which swaps the groups between users if the system capacity is increased, is adopted for the enhancement of system capacity. In addition, the proposed algorithm provides a simple solution for the conflict problem among users by reallocating only the conflicted groups and unassigned groups instead of reallocating entire groups. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm increases the system capacity effectively over a static, an adaptive blockwise, and a decentralized subcarrier allocation algorithms.

  • It is very important to track a complicate weld seam for the welding automation. Very recently, laser vision sensor becomes a useful sensing tool to find the seams. Until now, however studies of welding automation using a laser vision sensor, focused on either image processing or feature recognition from CCD camera. Even though it is possible to use a simple algorithm for tracking a simple seam, it is extremely difficult to develop a seam-tracking algorithm when the seam is more complex. To overcome these difficulties, this study introduces a simulation system to develop the seam tracking algorithm. This method was verified experimentally to reduce the time and effort to develop the seam tracking algorithm, and to implement the sensing device.

  • This paper presents a simple but effective DYC algorithm which enhances vehicle lateral stability by using an anti=lock brake system (ABS). In the proposed algorithm, only the front outer wheel is controlled during cornering maneuver instead of controlling all four wheels because the wheel has the largest role in DYC and it is easy and simple to control the only one wheel. An ABS Hardware - In -The -Loop Simulation ( HILS) system that may be used to realistically test real vehicle dynamic behavior in a lab is used for evaluating the proposed DYC algorithm in severe situations where a vehicle is destabilized without DYC . The HILS results show that the proposed DYC algorithm has the potential of maintaining vehicle stability in some dangerous situations.

  • [1] and [2] present an approach to diagnosing possible defects in the mechanical systems of a nuclear power plant. In this paper, by using a fault library as a database and training data, we develop a diagnostic algorithm 1) to decide whether an Air Operated Valve system is sound or not and 2) to identify the defect from which an Air-Operated Valve system suffers, if any. This algorithm is composed of three stages: a neural net stage, a non-neural net stage, and an integration stage. The neural net stage is a simple perceptron, a pattern-recognition module, using a neural net. The non-neural net stage is a simple pattern-matching algorithm, which translates the degree of matching into a corresponding number. The integration stage collects each output and makes a decision. We present a simulation result and confirm that the developed algorithm works accurately, if the input matches one in the database.

  • This study presents a heuristic algorithm for buffer allocation in FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System). The buffers, which are finite resources in FMS, are responsible for improvement of an overall system utilization. But, until now, the study for buffer allocation in FMS are rarely conducted because of the complexity in FMS. Most studies for buffer allocation had been addressed to the simple production line system. The presented algorithm uses a simulation for the description of system complexity and uses a genetic algorithm for finding better buffer allocation. Lastly, we compare performance of the presented algorithm with that of a simple heuristic, and analyze the experiment results.

Flood Impact Pressure Analysis of Vertical Wall Structures using PLIC-VOF Method with Lagrangian Advection Algorithm

  • The flood impact pressure acting on a vertical wall resulting from a dam-breaking problem is simulated using a navier-Stokes(N-S) solver. The N-S solver uses Eulerian Finite Volume Method(FVM) along with Volume Of Fluid(VOF) method for 2-D incompressible free surface flows. A Split Lagrangian Advection(SLA) scheme for VOF method is implemented in this paper. The SLA scheme is developed based on an algorithm of Piecewise Linear Interface Calculation(PLIC). The coupling between the continuity and momentum equations is affected by using a well-known Semi-Implicit Method for Pressure-Linked Equations (SIMPLE) algorithm. Several two-dimensional numerical simulations of the dam-breaking problem are presented to validate the accuracy and demonstrate the capability of the present algorithm. The significance of the time step and grid resolution are also discussed. The computational results are compared with experimental data and with computations by other numerical methods. The results showed a favorable agreement of water impact pressure as well as the global fluid motion.

  • In this paper, we propose a simple linear bottleneck assignment problems (LBAP) algorithm to find the optimal solution. Generally, the LBAP has been solved by threshold or augmenting path algorithm. The primary characteristic of proposed algorithm is derived the optimal solution of LBAP from linear sum assignment problem (LSAP). Firstly, we obtains the solution for LSAP from the selected minimum cost of rows and moves the duplicated costs in row to unselected row with minimum increasing cost in direct and indirect paths. Then, we obtain the optimal solution of LBAP according to the maximum cost of LSAP can be move to less cost. For the 29 balanced and 7 unbalanced problem, this algorithm finds optimal solution as simple.

Video-based fall detection algorithm combining simple threshold method and Hidden Markov Model (단순 임계치와 은닉마르코프 모델을 혼합한 영상 기반 낙상 알고리즘)

  • Automatic fall-detection algorithms using video-data are proposed. Six types of fall-feature parameters are defined applying the optical flows extracted from differential images to principal component analysis(PCA). One fall-detection algorithm is the simple threshold method that a fall is detected when a fall-feature parameter is over a threshold, another is to use the HMM, and the other is to combine the simple threshold and HMM. Comparing the performances of three types of fall-detection algorithm, the algorithm combining the simple threshold and HMM requires less computational resources than HMM and exhibits a higher accuracy than the simple threshold method.
