Flexible membranes with a hierarchical nanofiber/microsphere structure for oil adsorption and oil/water separation

  • Oil spill and oily wastewater have now become a serious threat to the freshwater and marine environments. Porous materials with super-hydrophobicity and super-oleophilicity are good candidates for the oil adsorption and oil/water separation. Here, flexible hybrid nanofibrous membrane (FHNM) containing $SiO_2$/polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) microspheres was prepared by simultaneous electrospinning and electrospraying. The obtained FHNM combined the flexibility of the nanofiber mat and super-hydrophobicity of the microspheres, which could not be achieved by either only electrospinning or only electrospraying. It was found that when the weight ratio between the $SiO_2$ and PVDF reached a critical value, the $SiO_2$ nanoparticles were present on the PVDF microsphere surface, significantly improving the surface roughness and hence the contact angle of the FHNM. Compared with the pure electrospun PVDF nanofiber mat, most of the FHNMs have a higher oil adsorption capacity. The FHNM could separate the oil with water quickly under the gravity and displayed a high efficiency and good reusability for the oil/water separation. More importantly, the FHNM could not only separate the oil with the pure water but also the corrosive solution including the salt, acid and alkali solution.

  • 본 논문에서는 다채널 음향 신호의 음원 분리를 수행하기 위하여, 빔공간-영역에서 다채널 비음수 행렬 분해 기법을 이용하는 음원 분리 시스템을 제안한다. 비음수 행렬 분해(NMF) 기법은 음원 분리에서 최근 널리 쓰이는 알고리즘이며, 특히 최근에는 다채널 비음수 행렬 분해(MC-NMF) 기법으로 발전하여 다채널 음향 신호에 대해서 적용되고 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 다채널 비음수 행렬 분해 기법은 빔공간-영역에서 수행되어, 기존의 다채널 비음수 행렬 분해 기법에 비해 좋은 성능을 가진다. 제안되는 비음수 행렬 분해 기법은 SiSEC 2010의 데이터셋을 이용하여 검증되었다.

Correlation between pit formation and phase separation in thick InGaN film on a Si substrate

  • We demonstrate improved surface pit and phase separation in thick InGaN grown on a GaN/Si (111) substrate, using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy with an indium modulation technique. The formation of surface pit and compositional inhomogeneity in the InGaN epilayer are investigated using atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and temperature-dependent photoluminescence. Indium elemental mapping directly reveals that poor compositional homogeneity occurs near the pits. The indium-modulation epitaxy of InGaN minimizes the surface indium segregation, leading to the reduction in pit density and size. The phase separation in InGaN with a higher pit density is significantly suppressed, suggesting that the pit formation and the phase separation are correlated. We propose an indium migration model for the correlation between surface pit and phase separation in InGaN.

  • Poly(imide siloxane)(Si-PI)와 polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)를 혼합한 고분자를 사용하여 실리카가 함유된 탄소 분리막을 제조하였다. 고분자 혼합물의 열분해에 의해 제조 된 다공성 탄소 구조의 특성은 두 고분자의 미세 상 분리 거동과 관련이 있다. Si-PI와 PVP의 고분자 혼합물의 유리 전이 온도(Tg)는 시차 주사 열량계를 사용하여 단일 Tg로 관찰되었다. 또한 $C-SiO_2$ 막의 질소 흡착 등온선을 조사하여 다공성 탄소 구조의 특성을 규명했다. Si-PI/PVP로부터 유도 된 $C-SiO_2$ 막은 IV형 등온선을 나타내었고 중간기공의 탄소 구조와 관련된 히스테리시스 루프를 가지고 있었다. 분자 여과 확인을 위해서, Si-PI/PVP의 비율과 열분해 온도 및 등온 시간과 같은 열분해 조건을 다르게 하여 $C-SiO_2$ 막을 제조하였다. 결과적으로, 120분 간의 등온 시간 동안 $550^{\circ}C$에서 Si-PI/PVP의 열분해에 의해 제조된 $C-SiO_2$ 막의 투과도는 820 Barrer ($1{\times}10^{-10}cm^3(STP)cm/cm^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}cmHg$)이었으며, $O_2/N_2$ 선택도는 14이었다.

  • The ion-exchange porous glasses were prepared by heat treating and subsequently acid treating the (95-y) $SiO_2$.$yB_2O_3$.$5Na_2O+xAl_2O_3$ glasses with y=55, 45, 35, 25. mole% and x=0, 2, 5, 9 mole% It was then investigated how the cation exchange capacity was affected by the phase separation in these glasses. For that matter such quantities as alkali extraction amount pore volume and specific surface area of the glasses were measured. The phase separation in these glasses was in general suppressed by the addition of $Al_2O_3$ maximally around the composition of 5 mole% $Al_2O_3$ This may be because the micro-phase separation prevailed in the glass of that composition over the macro-phase separation increasing thereby the specific surface area as well as the residual amount Al of after acid-treatment and accordingly the cation exchange capacity. The maximum values of the cation exchange capacity was observed to be about 150meq/100g for the glasses of (40-50) $SiO_2$ (55~45)$yB_2O_3$. $5Na_2O+5Al_2O_3$.

  • 다양한 재료특성(Si/Al 몰비, 두께, 구조적 불완전성)을 갖는 Na형 faujasite 제올라이트 분리층을 다공성 $\alpha$-알루미나 튜브 표면에 수열조건에서 이차성장 시키고 $CO_2/N_2$ 분리거동을 $CO_2/N_2$ 몰비가 1인 혼합기체에 대하여 $30^{\circ}C$에서 평가하였다. 수열조건 중에서 수열용액 내의 $SiO_2$ 양은 형성된 제올라이트 분리층의 재료특성에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 변수임을 확인하였다. 즉, 수열용액 내의 $SiO_2$ 양이 증가함에 따라서 형성된 제올라이트 분리층의 Si/Al 몰비, 두께, 구조적 불완전성(discontinuity)은 동시에 증가하였다. 본 논문에서는 불완전한 치밀화에 의해 잔존하는 결정립간 공극(void), GIS Na-P1 상에 의해 형성된 균열(crack) 등 구조적 불완전성이 $CO_2/N_2$ 분리에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 재료특성이며, 투과부에서의 $CO_2$ 탈착이 전체 $CO_2$ 투과의 율속단계(rate-determining step)임을 확인하였다.

모의 사용후분산핵연료($U_3Si/Al$) 용해용액으로부터 네오디뮴 분리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Separation of Neodymium from the Simulated Solution of $U_3Si/Al$ Spent Nuclear Fuel)

  • 2단계 음이온교환분리를 이용하여 모의 사용후분산핵연료($U_3Si/Al$)용해용액으로부터 Nd을 분리하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 사용후분산핵연료를 모사하기 위하여 사용전핵연료($U_3Si/Al$)를 4 M HCl과 10 M $HNO_3$의 혼산으로 녹인 다음, 8 또는 15종의 핵분열생성원소를 첨가하였다. 용액 중 미량의 실리카는 플루오르화수소산을 넣고 가열하여 제거하였으며, U은 1차 음이온교환수지에 흡착시켜 제거하였다. Nd은 2차 음이온교환수지상에서 여러 핵분열생성원소들로부터 질산-메틸알콜 매질의 용리액으로 분리하였다. 과량의 Al은 Nd의 용리속도에 크게 영향을 미치지 않았으나, Nd을 포함한 Al, Eu, Gd, Sm 및 Sr의 절대 용리양을 감소시켰다. Nd을 용리액[0.04 M $HNO_3$-99.8% MeOH(1:9)]으로 용리하기 전에 과량의 Al은 부하(loading) 용액(0.8 M $HNO_3$/99.8% MeOH) 3 mL로 사전 용출시켜 제거하였다. 용리된 Nd의 회수을은 Al의 양에 관계없이 94% 이상이었다. 순수한 Nd을 분리하기 위해서는 9-13 mL 부분의 용리액을 취하는 것이 효과적이었다.

Ionic liquid coated magnetic core/shell CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles for the separation/analysis of trace gold in water sample

  • A new ionic liquid functionalized magnetic silica nanoparticle was synthesized and characterized and tested as an adsorbent. The adsorbent was used for magnetic solid phase extraction on ICP-MS method. Simultaneous determination of precious metal Au has been addressed. The method is simple and fast and has been applied to standard water and surface water analysis. A new method for separation/analysis of trace precious metal Au by Magnetron Solid Phase Extraction (MSPE) combined with ICP-MS. The element to be tested is rapidly adsorbed on CoFe2O4@SiO2@[BMIM]PF6 composite nano-adsorbent and eluted with thiourea. The method has a preconcentration factor of 9.5-fold. This method has been successfully applied to the determination of gold in actual water samples. Hydrophobic Ionic Liquids (ILs) 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole hexafluorophosphate ([BMIM]PF6) coated CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles with core-shell structure to prepare magnetic solid phase extraction agent (CoFe2O4@SiO2@ILs) and establish a new method of MSPE coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for separation/analysis of trace gold. The results showed that trace gold was adsorbed rapidly by CoFe2O4@SiO2@[BMIM]PF6 and eluanted by thiourea. Under the optimal conditions, preconcentration factor of the proposed method was 9.5-fold. The linear range, detection limit, correlation coefficient (R) and relative standard deviation (RSD) were found to be 0.01~1000.00 ng·mL-1, 0.001 ng·mL-1, 0.9990 and 3.4% (n = 11, c = 4.5 ng·mL-1). The CoFe2O4@SiO2 nanoparticles could be used repeatedly for 8 times. This proposed method has been successfully applied to the determination of trace gold in water samples.

$Li_2O-SiO_2$ 계 유리의 결정화에 관한 연구 (The Cystallization Behavior of $Li_2O-SiO_2$ Glasses)

  • The crystallization of $Li_2O-SiO_2$ system glasses and the effect of phase separtion to crystal nucleation were studied. The crystallization temperatures of various glasses were determined by DTA and glasses were nucleation heat treated at the temperatures ranging from 45$0^{\circ}C$ to 5$25^{\circ}C$. These glasses were thengown at $700^{\circ}C$ to observable size in the optical microscope. Crystal nucleation rates of various glasses were obtained by estimating the number of crystals per unit volume. The main crystal phase of these glasses identified by X-ray diffraction was lithium disilicate ($Li_2O$.$2SiO_2$). It was found that the crystal nucleation rate of glass (19.5% $Li_2P$-80.5% $SiO_2$), the nearest composition to lithium disilicate, was higher than other glasses. The opalescence caused by phase separation was observed in the nucleation heat treated glass (16.3% $Li_2O$-83.7% $SiO_2$). The result from nucleation density measurement of this glass indicated that the nucleation was enhanced during early stage of phase separation. The molphologies of crystals in glasses and crystal growth rate at $600^{\circ}C$ were also discussed.
