  • It is generated in DMF by activated catalysts of superoxo cobalt(III) complex, such as [Co(III)(Schiff base)(L)]O$_2$ (Schiff base; SED, SOPD and o-BSDT, L; DMF and Py) which mole ratio of oxygen to metal is 1:1 that oxidation major product of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol by homogeneous oxidatve catalysts of oxygen adducted tetradentate Schiff base cobalt(III) is 2,6-ditert-butylbenzoquinone (BQ). And oxidation product of 3,3',5,5'-tetra-tert-butyldiphenoquinone (DPQ) is generated by activated catalysts such as $\mu$-peroxo cobalt(III) complex; $[Co(III)(SND)(L)]_2$$O_2$ (L; DMF and Py) which mole ratio of oxygen to metal is 1:2. It is difficult to identify these homogeneous activated catalysts such as superoxo and $\mu$-peroxo cobalt(III) complexes in DMF and DMSO solvents. But we can identify by P.V.T method of the oxygen absorption in pyridine solvent and by the reduction process occurred to four steps including prewave of O$_2$- in 1:1 oxygen adducted superoxo cobalt(III) complexes and three steps not including prewave of O$_2$- in 1:2 oxygen adducted $\mu$-peroxo cobalt(III) complexes by the cyclic voltammetry with glassy carbon electrode in 0.1 M TEAP as supporting electrolyte solutidn.

  • In Meditation II, Descartes questions "sed quid igitur sum" ("But what then am I?"). To this question to rule our essence, A. Clark insists that "We are soft selves". The idea by Clark is a spontaneous conclusion of the extended mind theory stating that cognitive process, cognitive state, and self may be extended over biological organisms. However, it seems that it is difficult for the extended self to have the qualifications as a moral agent. There have been disputes about expandability of cognitive process and cognitive state, but there have not been many disputes about the possibility of accountability of behavior by the extended self. First of all, in this thesis, it will be revealed that the extended self through the analysis of metaphorical theories and the ontological essence of agent and behavior by G. Lakoff and M. Johnson is just metaphorical rhetoric, which is not suitable for rational comprehension of ontological essence of agent and behavior. Moreover, the analysis of problem about artificial moral agent (AMA) proposes the "Strong First-person Viewpoint" as a requirement of the agent. Finally, the concept of extended self will be shown to be unsuitable for theoretical explanation of us, and the concept of human person will be proposed as an alternative solution.

  • In this paper, methods for manufacturing shielding concrete by recycling steelmaking slag discarded as industrial waste and measuring the shielding effectiveness of the shielding concrete were studied. By comparing the result of shielding effectiveness measurement of this concrete block with shielding effectiveness measurement of the structure constructed with this concrete, the measurement system for measuring shielding effectiveness of the concrete block was verified. The size of the concrete stru ctu re is 2.9 × 2.9 × 3.4m and the concrete block is 0.3 × 0.3 × 0.2m. The frequ ency band u sed for mesu rement is 600MHz - 2GHz, the types of concrete u sed to measu re the shielding effectiveness are general concrete and concrete containing electric arc furnace oxidizing slag. In the case of the concrete structure, reinforcing rebars are installed at intervals of 15cm for stru ctu ral safety, as the frequ ency increase, the electromagnetic wave properties of rebars gradu ally decreased, there was a slight difference in the measurement results. In conclusion, the measurement result of shielding effectiveness of the concrete block is similar to the result of the concrete structure. It is thought that it can be sufficiently utilized for electromagnetic wave engineering design, and the concrete shielding effectiveness measurement system using standard specimens was verified.

  • This study was conducted to develop ingrowth estimation equations on Pinus densiflora found in Gangwon Province and in the center of Korean Peninsula, based on the National Forest Inventory (NFI)'s permanent sampling plot data. For this study, identical sampling plots in $5^{th}$ and $6^{th}$ NFI data were collected in order to identify ingrowth amounts for the last 5 years. Following two-stage approaches in developing the ingrowth estimation equations, the logistic regression model was used in the first stage to estimate the ingrowth probability. In the second stage, regression analysis on sampling plots with ingrowth occurrence was used to estimate the ingrowth amount. A candidate model was finally selected as an optimal model after a verification based on three evaluation statistics which include mean difference (MD), standard deviation of difference (SDD) and standard error of difference (SED). In results, a logistic regression model based on the number of sampling plot which did not result in ingrowth (model VI), was selected for an ingrowth probability estimation equation and exponential function including the species composition (SC) variable was optimal for an ingrowth estimation equation (model VII). The ingrowth estimation equations developed in this study also evaluated the estimation ability in various forest stand conditions, and no particular issue in fitness or applicability was observed.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze Korean Women's U.S. Ph.D. Degree-seeking Process and career development in the field of science and engineering in the United States. We conducted the analysis on the basis of SED (Survey of Earned Doctorates) data of the National Science Foundation. Since 2001, the number of Korean Ph.D. degree recipients from United States universities has been increasing and about 25% of them were women. Their median age was 33.3 years old, and one third of them were the recipients of research and teaching assistantships while pursuing a Ph.D. degree. At the time of receiving the degree, 51.8% reported having definite commitments for employment or postdoctoral study or research. Over 70% of the degree holders were presumed to stay and work in the United States. The study finally addressed policy implications regarding their recruitment to Korea and a need for a longitudinal survey.

  • We present the mid-infrared (MIR) luminosity function (LF) of local (z < 0.3) star forming (SF) galaxies based on the AKARI's NEP-Wide Survey data. We utilized a combination of the NEP-Wide point source catalogue containing a large number (114,000) of infrared (IR) sources distributed over the wide (5.4 sq. deg) field and spectroscopic redshift (z) data for 1790 selected targets obtained by optical follow-up surveys with MMT/Hectospec and WIYN/Hydra. The AKARI's continuous $2{\sim}24{\mu}m$ wavelength coverage and the spectroscopic redshifts for sample galaxies enable us to derive accurate spectral energy distributions (SEDs) in the mid-infrared. We carried out SED-fit analysis and employed 1/Vmax method to derive the mid-IR (e.g., $8{\mu}m$, $12{\mu}m$, and $15{\mu}m$ rest-frame) luminosity functions. Our results for local galaxies from the NEP region generally consistent with various previous works for other fields over wide luminosity ranges. The comparison with the results of the NEP-Deep data implies the luminosity evolution from higher redshifts towards the present epoch. We attempted to fit our derived LFs to the double power-laws and present the resulting power indices. We also examined the correlation between mid-IR luminosity and total IR luminosity.

  • A sample of nearby galaxies was built from the AKARI/FIS all sky survey cross-correlated with the SDSS and GALEX surveys. The spectral energy distributions from 0.15 to 160 microns of these galaxies are analysed to study dust attenuation and star formation properties. The calibrations of the amount of dust attenuation as a function of the IR-to-UV flux ratio and the FUV-NUV colour are re-investigated: the former one is confirmed to be robust and accurate whereas the use of the FUV-NUV colour to measure dust attenuation is found highly uncertain. The current star formation rate given by the SED fitting process is compared to that directly obtained from the UV and total IR luminosities. It leads to an accurate estimate of dust heating by old stars. We emphasize the importance of such a sample as a reference for IR selected star forming galaxies in the nearby universe.

  • We present the characteristics and the performance of the new CCD camera system, SNUCAM-II (Seoul National University CAMera system II) that was installed on the Lee Sang Gak Telescope (LSGT) at the Siding Spring Observatory in 2016. SNUCAM-II consists of a deep depletion chip covering a wide wavelength from $0.3{\mu}m$ to $1.1{\mu}m$ with high sensitivity (QE at > 80% over 0.4 to $0.9{\mu}m$). It is equipped with the SDSS ugriz filters and 13 medium band width (50 nm) filters, enabling us to study spectral energy distributions (SEDs) of diverse objects from extragalactic sources to solar system objects. On LSGT, SNUCAM-II offers $15.7{\times}15.7$ arcmin field-of-view (FOV) at a pixel scale of 0.92 arcsec and a limiting magnitude of g = 19.91 AB mag and z=18.20 AB mag at $5{\sigma}$ with 180 sec exposure time for point source detection.

  • The cycle of the seminiferous epthelia in the testis of matured Korean Native Cattle was divided into eight stages. The results were summarized as follows: 1. Type A spermatogonia a, pp.ared twice as many at stage 2 as compared to stage 1, while maximum numbers were the average of 2.8 at stage 2. The intermediate and Type B spermatogonia were found during the stage 3 to 8, stage 6 to 8, respectively. The leptolene primary spermatocytes were not observed during the stage 5 to 7, while the pachytene primary spermatocytes were shown the least in number at stage 4, the secondary supermatocytes could be seen only at stage 4 and the round spermatids were not observed at stage 3, 4. 2. The relative frequencies of the eight stages of the cycle of the seminiferous eptithelia were 24.9, 14.2, 19.0, 6.3, 3.7, 7.9, 10.3 and 13.9%, respectively. 3. Some of the nuclei of Sertoli cells transformed from the "parallel" type to the "perpendicular" type. This evolution took place from stage 1 to 5, when the number of "perpendicular" type nuclei reached a peak and the number was decreased in the rest of the stages.sed in the rest of the stages.

  • We present the mid-infrared (MIR) luminosity function (LF) of local (z < 0.3) star-forming (SF) galaxies in the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) field. This work is based on the NEP-Wide point source catalogue and the spectroscopic redshift (z) data for ~ 1700 galaxies obtained by the optical follow-up survey with MMT/Hectospec and WIYN/Hydra. The AKARI's continuous $2-24{\mu}m$ coverage and the spectroscopic redshifts enable us to determine the spectral energy distribution (SED) in the mid-infrared and derive the luminosity functions of galaxies. Our $8{\mu}m$ LF finds good agreements with the results from SWIRE field over the wide luminosity range, while showing significant difference from the NOAO deep data in the faint end. The comparison with higher-z sample shows significant luminosity evolution from z > 0.3 to local universe. $12{\mu}m$ LF also shows a clear indication of luminosity evolution.
