  • The U-draw bending operation is known as a representative test method for springback evaluation of sheet metals since the sheet in U-draw bending operation undergoes stretching, bending and unbending deformations occurred at the stamping process. In this study, a simplified approach was proposed for predicting springback and side-wall curls of tailor-welded blank in U-draw bending operations, using moment-curvature relationships derived for sheets undergoing stretching, bending and unbending deformation. Two different welded strips were adopted to compare the effects of weld-line locations on the springback. One (type A) was welded along the centerline of the strip-width and the other (type B) was welded along the centerline of the strip-length. To investigate the effect of different thickness combination on the springback, the tailor-welded strips were joined by the laser welding process and consisted of three types of thickness combinations of sheets, SCP1 0.8t * SCP1 1.2t, SCP1 0.8t * SCP1 1.6t and SCP1 0.8t * TRIP 1.0t. Some calculated results by the simplified formula were compared with experimental results.

  • The paper processed settlement analysis using Finite Elements Method(FEM). Because Stress Distribution Ratio has to be decreased, for settlement analysis of soft clay deposit improved by sand compaction piles(SCP). Back analysis was processed comparing the measured settlements of laboratory model tests and finite element analysis where the SCP treated area was assumed as mixed ground with clay deposit rather than being a composite ground. The paper proposes a methodology which employs a compression index($C_c$) for settlement analysis of soft clay deposit improved by sand compaction piles from the back analysis. This approach is applied to a field measurement case(A revetment founded on the SCP improved clay deposit with the replacement ratio of 45%).

  • The purpose of this paper is to investigate the characteristics of springback for the U-bending of steel sheets for automotive body panels. This study presents the experimental and analytical approach for the two kind of steel sheets, namely SCP1 and TRIP(Transformation-induced plasticity), the newly developed high strength steel. The adopted thicknesses are 0.8, 1.2 and 1.6 mm for SCP1, and 1.0 mm for TRIP. The punch profile radii are designed in 3, 6, 9, 12, and 15 mm. As results, the springgo aspect could be observed experimently in the small punch profile radius. The degree of springback for TRIP sheets was more than the SCP1 sheets.

  • The study aims to explore industrial and firms' strategic factors affecting diffusion of digital convergence by studying major global IPTV markets. Market and firm variables are selected using the Industrial Organization's SCP approach. Data for the variables are collected from global 31 IPTV operators representing 20 countries. The analysis indicates that the penetration of broadband Internet and the market share of a dominant player in the Pay TV positively affect the penetration of the IPTV service, whereas the penetration of Pay TV, ARPU, firms' strategy and resource do not have influence on its penetration. The study is the cross-country analysis and contributes to the media study by exploring the relationship between market variables and the development of convergent media. Consequently, the study is expected to help policy makers tailor their digital policy for local environment.

  • In this paper, we give a new approach to solving the 2-variable subnormal completion problem (SCP for short). To this aim, we extend the notion of recursively generated weighted shifts, introduced by R. Curto and L. Fialkow, to 2-variable case. We next provide "concrete" necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions to the 2-variable SCP with minimal Berger measure. Furthermore, a short alternative proof to the propagation phenomena, for the subnormal weighted shifts in 2-variable, is given.

  • The logical analysis of data(LAD) is a Boolean-logic based data mining tool. A critical step in analyzing data by LAD is the pattern generation stage where useful knowledge and hidden structural information in data is discovered in the form of patterns. A conventional method for pattern generation in LAD is based on term enumeration that renders the generation of higher degree patterns practically impossible. In this paper, we present a novel optimization-based pattern generation methodology and propose two mathematical programming models, a mixed 0-1 integer and linear programming (MILP) formulation and a well-studied set covering problem (SCP) formulation for the generation of optimal and heuristic patterns, respectively. With benchmark datasets, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our models by automatically generating with ease patterns of high complexity that cannot be generated with the conventional approach.

  • RNA polymerase II C-terminal domain phosphatases are newly emerging family of phosphatases that contain FCPH domain with Mg+2-binding DXDX(T/V) signature motif. Its subfamily includes small CTD phosphatases (SCPs). Recently, we identified several interacting partners of human SCP1 with appearance of dephosphorylation and O-GlcNAcylation. In this study, using an established cell line with inducible CTDSPL2 protein (a member of the new phosphatase family), proteomic screening was conducted to identify binding partners of CTDSPL2 in nuclear extract through immunoprecipitation of CTDSPL2 with its associated. This approach led to the identification of several interacting partners of CTDSPL2. This will provide a better understanding on CTDSPL2.

  • A laser machining process has been applied in many manufacturing fields and it provides an excellent energy control for treating materials. However, a heat effect during laser machining can deteriorate material properties. Specifically, a thermally induced stress can be a problem in laser-machined structures on a metal surface. In this study, temperature and stress on cold-rolled carbon steel sheet machined with laser hole drilling were explored in an experimental approach and a numerical method. Stresses by temperature gradients inside the materials were generated in fast cooling. The stresses were measured by using a hole-drilling method and the material properties of carbon steel (SCP1-S) were obtained in the experiment. It was found that the stress predicted from the numerical analysis was in agreement with the stresses measured by using the hole-drilling method. The analysis can be applied for evaluating structure characteristics machined with a laser.

  • Purpose - This study applies the traditional Structure-Conduct-Performance (SCP) model from industrial organization theory to investigate the relationship between market structure and performance in China's banking industry. Design/methodology/approach - For analysis, financial data from the People's Bank of China's "China Financial Stability Report" and financial reports of 6 state-owned banks and 11 joint-stock banks for the period 2010 to 2021 were collected to create a balanced panel dataset. The study employs panel fixed-effects regression analysis to assess the impact of changes in market structure and ownership structure on performance variables including return on asset, profitability, costs, and non-performing loan ratios. Findings - Empirical findings highlight significant differences in the effects of market structure between state-owned and joint-stock banks. Notably, increased market competition positively correlates with higher profits for state-owned banks and with lower costs for joint-stock banks. Research implications or Originality - State-owned banks demonstrate larger scale and stability, yet they struggle to respond effectively to market shifts. Conversely, joint-stock banks face challenges in raising profitability against competitive pressures. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance for Chinese banks to strengthen risk management due to the increase of non-performing loans with competition. The results provide insights into reform policies for Chinese banks regarding the involvement of private sector in the context of market liberalization process in China.
