The flexural and compressive strengths of polymer-modified mortars containing FRP wastes were investigated. The specimens of polymer-modified mortars containing FRP mortat were perpared by using styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex, ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion and polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsion with various FRP-sand ratios(10, 20, 30, 40, 50wt%). The compressive and flexural strengths of polymer-mokified mortars containing FRP wastes were decreased with an increase of FRP-sand ratio. But the compressive and flexural strengths of PAE polymer-modified mortar were more improved than OPC, whereas those of SBR and EVA polymer-modified mortars containing FRP wastes were decreased than OPC.
Resorcinol-tannin-formaldehyde-latex(RTFL) adhesive was prepared to bond SBR to nylon in reinforced rubber composites. A key factor of adhesive contributes to the adhesion strength between SBR and nylon was the toughness of adhesive itself. Although the stiffness and strength of adhesive film decreased slightly with increasing level of tannin substitution for resorcinol in a standard RFL adhesive, the maximum toughness of adhesive film, which showed yield behavior and high dissipative capacity, was obtain by 60% tannin substitution. However, a marked softening and reduction in toughness occurred at sufficiently high substitution. Also, the adhesive film, which was heat-treated to simulate cure, showed higher strength than the unheated film. Thus, the properties of tannin containing adhesives could be optimized by using 40/60 weight ratio of the resorcinol/tannin in RTFL adhesive composition as well as heat treatment of adhesive film.

The coated paper was greatly affected by the basic physical properties of the binder as well as the amount of the coating formula. High glass transition temperature (Tg) of the styrene-butadiene (SB) latex, selected as the binder in our study, gave the high stiffness to the coated paper, but lowered the binding force and print gloss. The average particle size of the SB latex also greatly affected to the coated paper so that the smaller particle size improved the rheological property of the coating formula and increased the binding force and print gloss. Another property of the SBR latex, gel content, was important because when its value was small, the latex was easily deformed at the high temperature and increased air permeability to the coated paper. Therefore, the lower gel content consequently resulted in the higher blistering resistance, especially in the web paper. The larger portion of the SB latex in the coated formula improved the binding force and print gloss, but decreased the ink set-off and ink-trapping to the coated paper. The heavier coating improved optical properties such as opacity, paper gloss and paper smoothness, to the coated paper.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the improvement of flow, compressive and flexural strengths of polymer cement mortar(PCM) using SBR latex mixed with blast-furnace slag and fly ash. The test specimens were prepared with SBR polymer dispersion, two types of admixture (blast-furnace slag and fly ash), five polymer-cement ratios (P/C; 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%), and six admixture contents (0, 3, 5, 10, 15 and 20%), plain cement mortar was also made for comparison. From the test results, the flow of PCM was significantly improved compared to ordinary cement mortar, but the flow was slightly reduced when mixed with blast-furnace slag, and the flow was similar to PCM when mixed with fly ash. In addition, the compressive strength of PCM mixed with admixtures was significantly improved, but the flexural strength did not improve except for some mortars. It can be stated that the optimum mix proportions of PCM using SBR with admixture contents 10 to 15% and P/C 10% for the compressive strength improvement, and P/C 20% for flexural strength improvement are recommended respectively in this study.

Recently the quantities of waste asphalt concrete at construction sites have increased greatly, but the maintenance and final disposal is very difficult problem. Therefore, we were faced with a worsening environmental problem brought about illegal measures. One of the most effective recycling method is cold recycling. This method will satisfy treatment and recycling of construction wastes. Also it is very important question in the preservation of environmental and natural resources. So, in this paper, we dealt cold recycling modified asphalt mixtures using emulsified asphalt to concern the effect of adding reclaimed asphalt concrete 30, 40, 50% and using SBR Latex for modified asphalt mixtures.
In this work, the emulsified asphalt with high phase stability and storage stability was prepared by using phase inversion emulsification and the surfactant mixed with cationic and nonionic surfactants. It was found that the asphalt together with Span 20, nonionic surfactant and DDA (Dimethyl Dodecyl Amine), cationic surfactant showed the most stable phase. The phase stability of the emulsified asphalt, therefore, was investigated through the particle size with mixed surfactant content, rheology behavior and Zeta potential value; the particle size decreased with the increase of the mixed surfactant content but the viscosity increased. The shear thinning behaviors and the Zeta potential value with 50 mV~60 mV were shown, which was found to be considered stable. In addition, SBR latex(Styrene-butadiene-rubber) and water dispersed Epoxy (EPD) were used to enhance the physical properties of the emulsified asphalt. The swelling and adhesion features of the emulsified asphalt were also studied with $CaCO_3$, Silica, and Montmorillonite (MMT). It was shown that the addition of SBR latex and MMT can be another way to improve the physical properties of the emulsified asphalt in that the lowest swelling feature was found.
The strength and durability of polymer-cement mortars were investigated. The specimens of polymer-cement mortar were prepared by using styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR) latex, ethylene-vinyl acetate(EVA) emulsion and polyacrylic ester(PAE) emulsion with various polymer-cement ratios(5, 10, 15, 20wt%). For the evaluation of durability of polymer-cement mortars, freezing-thawing, acid resistance and heat resistance tests were conducted. With an increase of polymer-cement ratio, the frost resistance of polymer-cement mortars was greatly improved, but acid and heat resistance were deteriorated. The compressive and flexural strengths of SBR polymer-cement mortars were improved with an increase of polymer-cement ratio, whereas those of EVA and PAE polymer-cement mortars reached maximum value at polymer-cement ratio of 10wt%.
Chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) -bamboo charcoal/silica (CS-PVA-BC/SI) hybrid fillers with compatibilized styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) composites were fabricated by the interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) method. The structure and composition of the composite samples were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The viscoelastic behaviors of the rubber composites and their vulcanizates were explored using a rubber processing analyzer (RPA) in the rheometer, strain sweep and temperature sweep modes. The storage and loss moduli of SBR increased significantly with the incorporation of different hybrid fillers, which was attributed to the formation of an interphase between the hybrid fillers and rubber matrix, and the effective dispersion of the hybrid fillers. The mechanical properties (hardness, tensile strength, oxygen transmission rate, and swelling rate) of the composite samples were characterized in detail. From the results of the mechanical test, it was found that BC-CS-PVA0SBR had the best mechanical properties. Therefore, the BC-CS-PVA hybrid filler provided the best reinforcement effects for the SBR latex in this research.

Ultra rapid-hardening cement is widely used for latex-modified mortar and concrete as repair and finishing material during urgent work. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the improvements in strength made to SBR cement mortars by the adding of various admixtures and by the use of different curing methods. SBR cement mortar was prepared with various polymer-cement ratios, curing conditions and admixture contents, and tested for flow, flexural and compressive strengths. From the test results, it was determined that the flow of SBR cement mortar increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio, and the water reducing ratio also increased. The strength of cement mortar is improved by using SBR emulsion, and is strengthened by adding metakaoline. The strength of SBR cement mortar cured in standard conditions was increased with an increase in the polymer-cement ratio, and attained the maximum strengths at polymer-cement ratios of 15 % and 10 %, respectively. The maximum strengths of SBR cement mortar are about 1.8 and 1.3 times the strengths of plain mortar, respectively. In this study, it is confirmed that the polymer-cement ratio and curing method are important factors for improving the strengths of rapid-hardening SBR cement mortar.

In order to discuss the mechanical properties of fiber reinforced composites with fly ash, lime, gypsum and polymer emulsion-Stylene Butadiene Rubber Latex (SBR) , experimental studies on FRC were carried out. The kinds of fiber used in FRC are PAN-dervied and Pitch-derived carbon fiver, alkali-resistance glass fiber. As a test results, the flexural strength and tougthness of fiber reinforced fly ash. lime.gypsum cement composites are remarkably increased by fiber contents ,but compressive strength of the composites are influenced by kinds of fiber more than by fiber contents. Also, addition of a polymer emulsion (SBR) to the composites decreased the bulk specific gravity, but compressive and flexural strengths, toughness of the composites are not influenced by it, are considerably improved by increasing fiber contents.
