  • The electric near-fields from a cellular phone's antenna are calculated using TLM method. The cellular phones is assumed to be a conductive box and the frequency is set to be 900 [MHz] and the radiated power is set to be 0.6 [W]. The near-fields and far-field patterns are obtained for wire antennas of 1/4 and 1/2 wavelengths. For the same radiation power, (0.6 [W]), it is found out the near-field for antennal length of λ/2 is much weaker than that for λ/4 antenna. The maximum SAR calculated in a simple head model becomes 1.4[W/kg].

  • Some unreasonable results from the use of a popular thick plate element are discovered from the analysis of a raft foundation and a pile cap in Hong Kong. To overcome the problems, the authors have developed a new shear deformable beam which can be extended to a general quadrilateral shear deformable plate. The behaviour of this new element under several interesting cases is investigated, and it is demonstrated that the new element possesses very high accuracy under different depth/span ratios, and the results from this new element are good even for a coarse mesh.

  • Purpose : This study presents the optimization of flip angle (FA) to obtain higher contrast to noise ratio (CNR) and lower specific absorption rate (SAR). Materials and Method : T1-weighted images of the cerebrum of brain were obtained from 50$^\circ$ to 130$^\circ$ FA with 10$^\circ$ interval. Signal to noise ratios (SNRs) were calculated for white matter (WM), gray matter (GM), and background noise. The proper FA was analyzed by T-test statistics and Kruskal-wallis analysis using R1 = 1- exp ($\frac{-TR}{T1}$) and Ernst angle cos $\theta$ = exp ($\frac{-TR}{T1}$). Results : The SNR of WM at 130$^\circ$ FA is approximately 1.6 times higher than the SNR of WM at 50$^\circ$. The SNR of GM at 130$^\circ$ FA is approximately 1.9 times higher than the SNR of GM at 50$^\circ$. Although the SNRs of WM and GM showed similar trends with the change of FA values, the slowdown point of decrease after linear fitting were different. While the SNR of WM started decreasing at 120$^\circ$ FA, the SNR of GM started decreasing at less than 110$^\circ$. The highest SNRs of WM and GM were obtained at 130$^\circ$ FA. The highest CNRs, however, were obtained at 80$^\circ$ FA. Conclusion : Although SNR increased with the change of FA values from 50$^\circ$ to 130$^\circ$ at 3T SE T1WI, CNR was higher at 80$^\circ$ FA than at the usually used 90$^\circ$ FA. In addition, the SAR was decreased by using smaller FA. The CNR can be increased by using this optimized FA at 3T MR SE T1WI.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to clarify the mediating effect of profitability and activity in the relationship between productivity and stock return, assuming that the productivity of the company will affect share prices with the parameters of profitability and activity. Design/methodology/approach - The study extracted productivity indicators, profitability indicators, activity indicators, and share price-related indicators from 1999 to 2018 of non-financial enterprises listed on the securities market, and then classified them into three factors: productivity (labor productivity LP, capital productivity CP), activity (TT), and profitability (net profit rate NI, operating profit ratio OI) through the factor analysis method, and analyzed the impact of each factor on the stock return through steps 1 to 3. Findings - The regression analysis shows that productivity has a significant positive effect on the stock return through the full mediating effect of profitability and activity. Research implications or Originality - In a situation where the relationship between productivity and profitability is not clear, this study is meaningful in that it has empirically analyzed that productivity has a positive effect on the stock return by mediating effects of profitability and activity.

  • The main areas for field-grown vegetable production in Iran were surveyed during the years of 2012-2014 to determine the occurrence of begomoviruses infecting these crops. A total of 787 leaf samples were collected from vegetables and some other host plants showing virus-like symptoms and tested by an enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using polyclonal antibodies produced against Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV). According to the ELISA results, 81 samples (10.3%) positively reacted with the virus antibodies. Begomovirus infections were confirmed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) using previously described TYLCV-specific primer pair TYLCV-Sar/TYLCV-Isr or universal primer pair Begomo-F/Begomo-R. The PCR tests using the primer pair TYLCV-Sar/TYLCV-Isr resulted in the amplification of the expected fragments of ca. 0.67-kb in size for ELISA-positive samples tested from alfalfa, pepper, spinach and tomato plants, confirming the presence of TYLCV. For one melon sample, having a week reaction in ELISA and no reaction in PCR using TYLCV-specific primers, the PCR reaction using the primer pair Begomo-F/Begomo-R resulted in the amplification fragments of the expected size of ca. 2.8 kb. The nucleotide sequences of the DNA amplicons derived from the isolate, Kz-Me198, were determined and compared with other sequences available in GenBank. BLASTN analysis confirmed the begomovirus infection of the sample and showed 99% identities with Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (ToLCNDV); phylogenetic analysis supported the results of the database searches. This study reports the natural occurrence of TYLCV in different hosts in Iran. Our results also reveal the emergence of ToLCNDV in Iranian cucurbit crops.

  • Raising the speed of the momentum wheel in the CMG increases the unintended force and torque caused by mass imbalance. This unintended force and torque should be minimized to get the better quality of satellite SAR image because they lead to the vibration of the output image. This paper shows the works on compensating the static imbalance and couple mass imbalance in the CMG wheel. First, the force and torque at the center of mass generated by the mass imbalance were predicted through M&S analysis. Second, the force and torque were estimated similarly through the M&S analysis when the measurement point was moved from the rotation center. Third, the measurement configuration for the force and torque by the mass imbalance was described. Fourth, the change of the force and torque by adding the specified mass to the momentum wheel was observed after comparing the measurements with the results of the M&S. And finally, the effect of the compensation was analyzed by comparing the force and torque before and after the correction while 24Nm class CMG was running in the standby mode.

  • The cytotoxicity of 1,3-diphenylpropenone derivatives known to inhibit the farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) was examined against various established tumor cell line, A549 (lung cancer), SKMEL-2 (uterine cancer), HCT-15 (skin cancer), SKOV-3 (brain cancer) and XF-498 (colon cancer) of the 1,3-diphenylpropenone derivatives showing farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) inhibition activity. And the structure-activity relationship (SAR) between structure of 1,3-diphenylpropenone derivatives as substrate and cytotoxicity was investigated by Free-Wilson analysis as well as Hansch method with tumor cell lines. From the result of Free-Wilson analyses, X-substituents on the benzoyl group have a more important role than Y-substituents on the styryl group. The 2,4-dichloro substituent, 15 and 2,4-dimethyl substituent, 16 showed the highest cytotoxicity (average pI_(50)=5.0). Particulary, the cytotoxicity of X-substituents increased with electronic effect $({\sigma})$ due to weak electron withdrawing group with optimum value $({\sigma}_{opt}=0.22{\sim}0.29})$ whereas that of Y-substituent resulted from various factors such as logP, $B_1$ and R constant.

  • As one of the hydrological factors closely related to landslides, precipitation indirectly affects slope stability by generating external forces. Groundwater level fluctuations have attracted more attention lately as factors that directly affect slope stability have become more prominent. Therefore, this study attempted to analyze the relationship between variables through changes in precipitation, groundwater levels, and land displacement. A time series-based analysis was conducted using satellite-based precipitation and point-based groundwater levels in conjunction with the PSInSAR technique to simulate land displacement in urban and mountainous areas. There was a sharp rise in groundwater levels in both urban and mountain areas during heavy rainfall, and a continuous decrease in urban areas when rainfall was low. 6 mm of displacements was observed in the mountainous area as a results of soil outflow from the topsoil layer, which was accompanied by an increased groundwater level. Meanwhile, different results were found in urban area. In response to the rise in groundwater level, the land displacement increases due to the expansion of soil skeletons, while the decrease seems to be attributed to anthropogenic influences. Overall, there was no consistent relationship between groundwater levels and land displacement, which appears to be caused by factors other than hydrological factors. Additional consideration of environmental factors could contribute to a deeper understanding of the relationship between the two factors.
