  • In this paper we introduced GB-SAR focusing algorithms for image formation and suggested an optimized solution. We compared the characteristics, advantages, and limitations of the Deramp-FFT (DF) algorithm and the Range-Doppler (RD) algorithm in terms of their image formation principles, memory usage and processing time. We found that DF algorithm is efficient in memory and processing time but can not focus the near range. The RD algorithm can focus the entire range but, considering the refinement on the rail length, it has much redundancy in memory and processing time. In conclusion, we optimized the GB-SAR focusing by using the DF algorithm for a far-range case and the RD algorithm for a near-range case separately.

  • This paper presents an SVD(Singular Value Decomposition)-Pseudo Spectrum method for SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) imaging. The purpose of this work is to improve resolution and target separability of SAR images. This paper proposes SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method whose advantages are noise robustness, reduction of sidelobes and high resolution of spectral estimation. SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method uses Hankel Matrix of signal components and SVD (Singular Value Decomposition) method. In this paper, it is demonstrated that the SVD-Pseudo Spectrum method shows better performance than the matched filtering method and the conventional super-resolution based multiple signal classification (MUSIC) method in SAR image processing. The targets to be separated are modeled, and this modeled data is used to demonstrate the performance of algorithms.

  • Several algorithms have been developed for the data processing of spotlight synthetic aperture radar (SAR). In particular, the range migration algorithm (RMA) does not assume that illuminating wavefronts are planar. Also, a high resolution image can be obtained by the RMA. This paper introduces an extension of the original RMA to enable a more efficient airborne SAR data processing. We consider more general motion and scene than the original RMA. The presented formulation is analyzed by using the principle of the stationary phase. Finally, the extended algorithm is tested with numerical simulations using the pulsed spotlight SAR.

  • This paper presents Inverse SAR imaging algorithm for a unknown velocity target and a real ISAR data is processed and applied to the algorithm. The real ISAR data is obtained by transmitting a number of pulse modulated by a stepped-frequency method and the received data are undersampled. We present a method applicable for the case of a undersampled data base. In this method, the original echoed signal is mixed with a reference signal to make it unaliased, followed by being interpolated. Target`s velocity required for the algorithm is estimated via subaperture processing and after the coordinate transformation into squint-mode SAR with the estimated velocity, a recently proposed SAR/ISAR imaging algorithm derived without any approximation is utilized to produce the output image. We also propose an ISAR image scheme that is usable when a target changes its velocity during ISAR data acquisition time.

  • Results of an analysis of the continuous motion effect for FMCW-SAR system and a signal processing to correct it are presented in this paper. SAR images reconstructed by back-projection algorithm are included as well. To analyze how platform velocity and sampling frequency affect the continuous motion effect, FMCW signal model was used, and the signal processing in time-doppler(t, $k_u$) domain was adopted. Then, back-projection algorithm and modified matched-filter was used to reconstruct SAR images, and it was validated using measured data by airborne FMCW-SAR system in X-band frequency.

  • A synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system can provide all-weather, day and night imaging capability, and thus, is very useful in surveillance for both civil and military applications. In this paper, the X-band spaceborne SAR system design procedure is introduced with the key design parameters for mission and system requirements characterized by the small satellite platform. The SAR imaging mode design technique is presented, and the design results are analyzed for standard mode performance evaluation. In line with the system requirements, the X-band SAR payload and ground reception/processing sub-systems are presented with the key design results and image applications examples. • This study has regard to classification by using multi-temporal SAR data. Multi-temporal JERS-1 SAR images are used for extract the land cover information and possibility. So far, land cover information extracted by high resolution aerial photo, satellite images, and field survey. This study developed on multi-temporal land cover status monitoring and coherence information mapping can be processing by L band SAR image. From July, 1997 to October, 1998 JERS SAR images (9 scenes) coherence values are analyzed and then extracted land cover information factors, so on. This technique which forms the basis of what is called SAR Interferometry or InSAR for short has also been employed in spaceborne systems. In such systems the separation of the antennas, called the baseline is obtained by utilizing a single antenna in a repeat pass.

  • In this paper, a small synthetic aperture radar(SAR) system with 30 cm resolution is proposed, and a RAW data-based Doppler parameter estimation and motion compensation algorithm is described in detail. Acquisition of both PolSAR and InSAR data are enabled because there are two channels each in the transmitter and receiver modules. Automotive-based field work is performed to obtain PolSAR data, and signal processing results are ultimately obtained. A motion compensation algorithm is used to mitigate the residual phase error due to platform oscillation, and improved performance is obtained with the motion compensation algorithm using the automotive field test data.
