Comparison of marginal bone loss and patient satisfaction in single and double-implant assisted mandibular overdenture by immediate loading

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to compare the coronal bone level and patient satisfaction in 1-implant and 2-implant assisted mandibular overdentures. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Twenty patients who had maladaptive mandibular dentures were treated in this study. Patients were randomly divided into two groups. The first group received 1 implant (Simple line II, Implantium, South Korea) in their mandibular midline and the second group received 2 implants in their B and D regions (according to Misch's category). If the primary stability of each implant was at least 60 ISQ, ball attachment was placed and denture relined with soft liner. After 6 weeks, retentive cap incorporated with hard acrylic resin. In the 6 and 12 months recalls, periapical digital radiograph were made and visual analogue scale questionnaires were used to record patient satisfaction. The Friedman test was done for comparing the presurgical and postsurgical parameters in each group and the U-Mann Whitney test (P<.05) was done for comparison of post-treatment results between the two groups. RESULTS. All implants achieved sufficient primary stability to be immediately loaded. Patient satisfaction was high, and there were no significant differences between two groups (P>.05). In addition, mean marginal bone loss was $0.6{\pm}0.67$ mm in the first group and $0.6{\pm}0.51$ mm in the second group, after 12 month. Mean marginal bone loss showed no significant differences between two groups. CONCLUSION. This preliminary one-year result indicated that mandibular overdentures anchored to a single implant can be a safe and cost-effective method as a starting step for implant-overdenture treatment.

건강가정지원센터의 장애아가족 통합지원서비스 사업을 위한 프로그램 개발 기초연구 (A Preliminary Study of Developing Integrated Supportive Service Works for the Families of Disabled Children Focus on the Healthy Family Support Center)

  • This study has been designed to develop integrated supportive service works for the families of disabled children registered in the D-Healthy Family Support Center. The service works are intended to improve family members' health and their growth potentials, and cover service programs of family education, counselling, culture solidarity, and information networks. There are two topics covered in this study; first, this study is to develop integrated supportive service programs for the families of disabled children, and second, the study is also to construct comprehensive strategies and plans for effective services after evaluating practical service programs. In this study, 31 families with one or more disabled children have been selected through stratified random sampling, and all the family members were observed for program effects of integrated service items developed from previously validated indices. For analysis, eight question items were made for interview and each item denotes satisfaction score ranging from 1(very dissatisfied) to 5(very satisfied) on the Likert's five point scale. Mean value of each item was counted after the program, and satisfaction scores were compared over the programs implementation. Overall, the satisfaction scores range 4.1 to 4.6, indicating relatively high satisfaction over most service program. Therefore, it is finally proposed that a longitudinal strategy model offer high quality service programs consistently for the target families, as a goal of achieving comprehensive cooperation and support exchanges between community and healthy family support center be schematized.

동물세포 대량배양에 의한 Erythropoeitin(EPO) 생산에 관한 고찰 (System Analysis for Mass Cultivation of Mammalian Cells to Produce Erythropoeitin(EPO))

  • 본 논문은 동물 세포의 대량 배양을 위해 연속 공법 방식인 Perfusion Continuous System을 도입해 의약적으로 중요한 EPO의 생산을 위한 생물 공학적인 자료들을 제고하고 있다. 이 System은 세포 증식 속도를 배지의 Perfusion 속도로 변화시킴으로써 조절시킬 수 있는 산소 소비속도와 밀접한 상관관계가 있음을 입증하며 이는 세포수의 직접 측정에 따른 오차 및 방법상의 문제를 정학히 측정할 수 있는 간접 변수, 즉 산소소비속도를 이용함으로써 제거할 수 있다. 특히 이 산소소비속도와 세포 성장 관계로 model로써 세포 증식을 예측함과 동시에 동물 세포 대량 배양을 위한 scale-up의 중요한 기초자료가 될 것이다. 지금까지 발표되지 않았던 동물 세포의 glucose에 대한 True growth yield와 maintenance coefficient값들의 측정은 동물 세포 성자관 유용 물질 생산을 위한 중요한 수율적 자료가 된다.한편 이 결과는 지금까지 미생물이나 광합성에서만 적용되었던 yield model이 Eukaryotes에서도 응용될 수 있음을 증명하고 있다. 이와 같이 perfusion system이 많은 장점을 갖고 있지만, 세포 성장에 따른 동력학적인 연구의 수행이 좀 더 요구되는 실정이며, 특히 Perfusion system을 설명할 수 있는 이론 및 cytostatic moel의 정립이 선행되어야 할 것이다.

ZnO 나노막대가 형성된 STO기판에 증착한 Y-Ba-Cu-O 박막의 미세구조 분석 (Microstructure Analysis of Y-Ba-Cu-O thin Films Grown on STO Substrates with Controlled ZnO Nanorods)

  • For many large-scale applications of high-temperature superconducting materials, large critical current density ($J_c$) in high applied magnetic fields are required. A number of methods have been reported to introduce artificial pinning centers in $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ films for enhancement of their $J_c$. We studied the microstructures and characteristic of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-{\delta}}$ films fabricated on $SrTiO_3$ (100) substrates with ZnO nanorods as pinning centers. Au catalyst nanoparticles were synthesized on STO substrates with self assembled monolayer to control the number of ZnO nanorods. The density of Au nanoparticles is approximately $240{\sim}260{\mu}m^{-2}$ with diameters of $41{\sim}49nm$. ZnO nanorods were grown on STO by hot-walled PLD with Au nanoparticles. Typical size of ZnO nanorod was around 179 nm in diameter and $2{\sim}6{\mu}m$ in length respectively. YBCO films deposited directly on STO substrates show the c-axis orientation, while YBCO films with ZnO nanorods exhibit any mixed phases without any typical crystal orientation.

3점 언더레일 슬라이드의 롤포밍 공정에 대한 성형해석연구 (A Study on Forming Analysis for the Roll Forming Process of 3 Point Under Rail)

  • Roll forming process is one of the most widely used processes in the world for forming metals such as a furniture drawer guide or an up and down slide guide. It can manufacture goods of the uniform cross section on a large scale throughout the continuous processing. In the domestic design and manufacture, roll forming process for production is taking most of the method of 2-point under rail slide. However, this method is vulnerable to the structural strength and stiffness is not suitable for high load conditions. Therefore, through systematic study of high load, low noise 3-point ball type of under rail slide its own design and manufacturing technology is the need to build. In this paper, to make center member of 3-point ball-type under rail slide for the refrigerator doors, the roll forming modeling and simulation are performed. Tensile test is performed about SCP-1 1/2H for determine the mechanical properties of materials. Modeling and simulation of roll forming is used MSC.MARC software of a dedicated analysis program used by rigid plastic finite element method. Interference between the roll and the final shape are predicted from the results of the simulation.

재질적 불균질이 강용접부의 파괴인성에 미치는 영향에 관한 고찰 (Review on the Effects of Material Heterogeneity on Fracture Toughness in Steel Weldment)

  • 각종 발전설비 및 LNG 저장탱크 등 대형산업구조물의 구조적 건전성을 확보하기 위해서는 강구조물을 형성하는 강용접부의 파괴인성 평가가 필수적이다. 강용접부는 모재와는 달리 다양한 재질적 불균질성을 가지는 경우가 대부분인데, 이러한 불균질성은 파괴변수 및 인성치에 대하여 역학적, 야금학적으로 많은 영향을 미치게 되므로 파괴인성 시험시에는 불균질 인자들의 영향을 반드시 고려해 주어야 한다. 하지만 국내의 경우는 강용접부의 불균질성에 대한 체계적인 연구가 이루어져 있지 않은 상태이므로, 본 논문에서는 강용접부가 가지는 인성적, 강도적 불균질에 대하여 정리하고 이에 따른 문제점을 리뷰하였다.

Static impedance functions for monopiles supporting offshore wind turbines in nonhomogeneous soils-emphasis on soil/monopile interface characteristics

  • Offshore wind turbines are considered as a fundamental part to develop substantial, alternative energy sources. In this highly flexible structures, monopiles are usually used as support foundations. Since the monopiles are large diameter (3.5 to 7 m) deep foundations, they result in extremely stiff short monopiles where the slenderness (length to diameter) may range between 5 and 10. Consequently, their elastic deformation patterns under lateral loading differ from those of small diameter monopiles usually employed for supporting structures in offshore oil and gas industry. For this reason, design recommendations (API and DNV) are not appropriate for designing foundations for offshore wind turbine structures as they have been established on the basis of full-scale load tests on long, slender and flexible piles. Furthermore, as these facilities are very sensitive to rotations and dynamic changes in the soil-pile system, the accurate prediction of monopile head displacement and rotation constitutes a design criterion of paramount importance. In this paper, the Fourier Series Aided Finite Element Method (FSAFEM) is employed for the determination of static impedance functions of monopiles for OWT subjected to horizontal force and/or to an overturning moment, where a non-homogeneous soil profile has been considered. On the basis of an extensive parametric study, and in order to address the problem of head stiffness of short monopiles, approximate analytical formulae are obtained for lateral stiffness $K_L$, rotational stiffness $K_R$ and cross coupling stiffness $K_{LR}$ for both rough and smooth interfaces. Theses expressions which depend only on the values of the monopile slenderness $L/D_p$ rather than the relative soil/monopile rigidity $E_p/E_s$ usually found in the offshore platforms designing codes (DNV code for example) have been incorporated in the expressions of the OWT natural frequency of four wind farm sites. Excellent agreement has been found between the computed and the measured natural frequencies.

한국(韓國) 지리학계(地理學界)의 중국연구(中國硏究) : 현황(現況)과 과제(課題) (Korean Geographers' China Studies : Inventory and Prospect)

  • 이 논문은 한국지리학계의 중국연구에 대하여, 시기별, 분야별, 연구지역별로 나누어 경향을 검토하고 있다. 1945년 이후 1990년대 초반까지 남한에서는 중국과의 교류가 사실상 단절되어 있었고, 따라서 중국에 대한 지리학적 연구는 심각하게 제한되어 있었다. 그러나 1980년대 중반 이후, 특히 1992년 한 중 국교 수립 이후 교류가 가능해졌으며, 이에 따라 지리학분야에서도 중국에 대한 연구가 활발하게 이루어졌다. 중국연구는 2003년 12월 현재까지 89편의 논문이 발표되고 9명의 박사학위취득자가 배출되는 등, 양적으로나 질적으로 한국 지리학계에서 가장 빠르게 성장한 분야 중의 하나이다. 초기에는 옌볜을 중심으로 한 동포학자들의 기여가 컸으며, 시간이 지나면서 국내 학자들의 연구도 활성화되었다. 특히 도시지리 및 경제지리 분야에서의 연구가 많았다. 이러한 성과에도 불구하고, 이론의 구성과 개발, 연구 주제의 다변화, 중국 내 지역에 기반한 연구 둥의 과제를 안고 있다.

편마비 환자의 트레드밀과 체중지지의 트레드밀 훈련이 균형능력 및 보행능력에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Treadmill and Body Weight Support Treadmill Training on Balance and Gait Ability in Hemiplegia Patients)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate and to verification of changes that the effect of treadmill and body weight support treadmill training on balance and gait ability for sub-acute stroke patients during 4 week. Method: 16 subjects who was diagnosed stroke were divided into 2 groups(8-treadmill training group, 8-body weight support treadmill group) by randomized control trial. Both training programs were consisted with 40 minuted, 5 times a week for 4 weeks and after training programs. Analysis: We analysed effects and changes on balance and gait ability. Analyses were performed using PASW ver. 18.0 and results were reported as mean ${\pm}$ standard deviation (S.D.). To investigate within group comparisons and to verification on effects of exercise, we did paired t test and repeated measured ANOVA test. Significance was set at p<.05. Result: Both training programs showed positive changes in Limit of Stability but significant results which is area of hemiside, area of intact side, area of posterior, total area were reported in body weight support treadmill training group. Changes of Berg Balance Scale was significantly increase and it had significant correlation between groups. Changes of 6 Minutes Walking Test was significant increase in both groups but there was no significant changes on Foot print and Romberg test. Conclusion: After considering all factors, both training programs showed effect on improvement of balance and gait ability in sub-acute stroke patients, but body weight support treadmill training group had better improvement in dynamic balance than treadmill training group. For the increase of balance and gait ability in sub-acute stroke patients, we need to continues study on difference of treadmill and body weight support treadmill and then we will give stroke patients a better satisfaction if we develop and provide a rehabilitation program for improvement of balance and gait ability.

무릎 안전성 향상을 위한 컴프레션 의복의 기능적 디자인 영역 선정과 설계법 (Selection and Design of Functional Area of Compression Garment for Improvement in Knee Protection)

  • Recently, because the market for compression wear now includes all consumers, not just professionals, various items for recovery after exercising or for enhanced effects from exercise have been introduced. In this research, a systematic and stepwise design process was proposed to develop compression garment that has both functional area and appropriate pressure to protect the knee when exercising. The U-V format functional area that wraps underneath the knee was selected by considering the shape and change in the skin length when bending the knee. After the selection of the functional area, a total of seven knee design areas, including the existing product, were designed to determine the appropriate pressure. After various movements, the compression garment was ranked in terms of support of the knee, level of pressure, discomfort of seam line, and comfort of popliteal; the preferred design was selected using the quad method. Four compression wear garments were produced using two selected preferred designs; the wear evaluation was performed using a seven-point Likert scale. As a result, the optimal reduction rate of the pattern was calculated based on Ziegert and Keil's method. The applied percentage of the fabric stretch at the upper part of the crotch was 66% for the width and 50% for the length; for the lower part of the crotch, only 66% for the width was applied. Moreover, it was determined that the design of the U-V knee protection part was preferred when a 7 mm square was placed at a 1 mm distance because this not only supports the knee but also allows the fabric to accommodate various skin deformations.
