In today's competitive environment, supply chain management is a major concern for a company. Two of the key issues in supply chain management are transportation and inventory management. To achieve significant savings, companies should integrate these two issues instead of treating them separately. In this paper we develop a framework for modeling stochastic programming in a supply chain that is subject to demand uncertainty. With reasonable assumptions, two stochastic programming models are presented, respectively, including a single-period and a multi-period situations. Our assumptions allow us to capture the stochastic nature of the problem and translate it into a deterministic model. And then, based on the genetic algorithm and stochastic simulation, a solution method is developed to solve the model. Finally, the computational results are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our model and algorithm.
The motions of carbon-chain backbone in n-undecance and n-dodecane dissolved in CDCl3 are investigated by 13C NMR relaxation study. For this purpose a model of C - C backbone motions for these molecules is introduced that takes into account the cooperativities between rotations about two $\beta$-coupled C - C bonds. In this model it is assumed that the major conformational interconversions occurring in the inner part of the chain involve the type II jumps only, although at terminal part of the chain both type II and type III motions are assumed to take place. Information of the rate constants of these conformational transitions could be extracted by comparing the T1's calculated on the basis of the assumed model with those observed over the temperature range of 248 - 308 K. The calculations were performed according to the method proposed by Wittebort and Szabo. The activation energies, ranging from ca 12 to 20 kJ/mol, could be obtained from the Arrhenius plots of these calculated rate constants.
We show that Shaw's optimized nonlocal model potential (OMP) in combination with the perturbative hyper-netted-chain equation for pair correlation functions can be successfully applied to predict pair structures of compressed and expanded liquid rubidium. For compressed rubidium, it is possible to apply the OMP to a state for which the model radius is even close to the Wigner-Seitz radius. In addition, our results are parallel to those from Chihara and Kahl's quantal hypernetted-chain equation in that it supports the uniform compression model up to 6.1 GPa. Calculation also shows that the pair structure is relatively insensitive to the choice of the exchange-correlation function for the electron liquid. Discussions are also given for compressed and expanded cesium.
This paper proposes a method for determining material property of a haptic model which represents the haptic behavior of a target object. This paper also presents a haptic rendering framework. We adapt elastography to obtain the physical property of a target object. One of the key differences between the proposed framework and a traditional method is that the physical property of the target object can be easily set into a haptic model. For evaluating the proposed method, we construct a real-time palpation prototype simulator. In our work, a human liver is selected as a target object and the liver is represented by Shape-retaining Chain Linked Model(S-chain model) for satisfying the real-time performance. We conduct experiments whether a user easily distinguishes abnormal portions from normal portions. From the experimental results, we evaluate that the proposed method provides the discriminable force to users in real-time.
Quantity discounts provide a practical foundation for supply chain inventory policies, improving the supplier's profit and reducing the buyer's inventory cost simultaneously. Traditional quantity-discount research, which deals with inventory coordination between a buyer and a supplier, is extended to a stationary stochastic environment. This research shows that the magnitude of the optimal discounts scheduled by the deterministic quantity discount models may not be large enough to cover the buyer's additional inventory stocking risks under uncertain conditions. As a result, the buyer's total inventory cost may often increase rather than decrease. In contrast, the proposed model allows the supplier to identify the discount level, which shares the buyer's amplified risk associated with temporary overstocking and ensures that both buyer and supplier benefit economically. The performance of the proposed model was tested in the continuous review environments via numerical experiments. The experimental results support the proposed method as a feasible alternative in coordinating inventory decisions under stochastic demand.

The purpose of the research to analyze SMEs' technological innovation performance in the Special Region of Yogyakarta based on green supply chains. This study's technology innovation performance is influenced by environmental management practices, green supply chain integration, and supply chain knowledge-sharing. This research is important because many SMEs are underdeveloped in terms of technology innovation performance. Technology innovation performance shows that innovation has a multi-dimensional ecological performance in organizations. Therefore, SMEs' sustainable supply chain could be achieved by managing operations, support, and information by focusing on environmental and social issues to maximize the entire chain. This study used primary data. The number of respondents in this study was 200 SMEs that have implemented green supply chain management practices. The data collection method used was a questionnaire. The data analysis technique tool used is a two-step approach to SEM-AMOS. The results of this study indicate that SMEs are willing to implement a green supply chain to increase their performance. The technological innovation performance model of this study is acceptable. The findings of this research suggest that companies must be encouraged to maintain and increase the implementation of green supply chain integration and better supply chain knowledge-sharing with improved technological innovation performance enhancements.

In this research we present a new model, PLCM(Cort-Logistics Chain Management), which can cooperate each other in the port-logistic industry that occupy a heavy rain in the Northeast Asian economy. PLCM(Port-Logistics Chain Management) synthetically manages the logistic chain and information laying stress on the port. Unlike SCM, which hat a vertical relationship between the main groups to cooperate each other, PLCM has a horizontal relationchip between the ports to achieve common purpose and to improve their whole competitive power. In this research we present a concept of PLCM and a specific plan to develop a system for PLCM targetting Pusan, Shanghai, and Tokyo Port which occupy a heavy rain in the Northeast Asian port industry. This system is composed of integrated information system and EDI document exchange system according to the special quality of user's request information. And in order to prove its feasibility and validity, the case study sailing from Shanghai to Busan has been applied to this study.

This paper is to propose e-business strategies for individual SME's(small and medium-sized enterprises). e-business maturity model is used to assess e-business maturity level of a target SME, and then corresponding e-business strategy is proposed based on the current maturity level. We studied two SME's to show how it works. Most SME's are small and do not have enough resources to invest on information systems. As it turns out, e-business strategies of SME should heavily depend on its relationship with customers and suppliers. One of the studied SME's is found to be in higher maturity level, because its manufacturing system is tightly related to its customer. One of major implications of this study is that e-business level of SME's should be upgraded considering how it is doing business with its customers and suppliers.
The purpose of this study is to consolidate the position of Kunsan Port as a Hub-port in Northeast asian region with the development of Kunsan port's hinterland. To accomplish the purpose, this paper firstly reviews the concept and function of port's hinterland literally. Next, We attempt to grasps the trends of port logistics service in this region, and to cope with this trends, study the previous researches of logistics platform(LP). Based upon the study, We find out the main factors of improving efficiency in port logistics, and build the model of logistics strategy with such factors as (1) Environment (2) Marketing (3) Logistics Chain and (4) Logistics community. And in order to applicate the model, we analyze the current situation of Kunsan port and port's hinterland. Finally, we provide the logistics strategies in Kunsan port's hinterland.
The main goal of this study is to examine the competition intensity in the Korean bakery franchise industry and to identify the core competencies of the industry's leading company, Paris Baguette. The frameworks of PEST analysis, Cross Impact analysis, a Five Forces Model, a Value Chain, and VRIO analysis. PEST and Cross Impact analysis were employed to investigate the industry's external environment, and the results indicated that 'increased attention on corporate's Creating Shared Value (CSV) activities' is the most influential factor among others. The analysis using the Five Forces Model found industry rivalry and substitutes were the greatest threats. Finally, the results of Value Chain and VRIO analysis identified four core competencies of Paris Baguette: its CEO's craftsmanship, e-procurement system, quality of dormant dough, and hub system. Multiple managerial implications are suggested for practitioners in the marketing area, especially in the saturated market environment.
