As the results of evaluation of its performance for 300 kN Ball and Socket type suspension insulators. There was electrically internal puncture of the solid insulating body of the insulating due to the steep front impulse voltage, which usually occurs puncture before external flash-over of insulators, moreover we have obtained satisfactory results in power arc test of 7.2kA cycle fatigue test with high qualify control index of 4.6, especially we have obtained more satisfactory results than that before improvement of its materials.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relation between intentionally induced internal stress and cyclic fatigue failure of ProTaper Universal. ProTaper Universal (Dentsply Maillefer) S1, S2, F1, F2, F3, F4 and F5 (25 mm length) were used in this study. To give the internal stress, the ProTaper Universal were put into the .02 taper Endo-Training-Bloc (Dentsply Maillefer) until auto-stop by torque controlled motor. The rotation speed was 300 rpm and torque value was 1.0 Ncm. ProTaper Universal were grouped by the induced number of internal stress and randomly distributed among one control group and three experimental groups (n=10). The four groups were Stress 0 (control), Stress 1, Stress 2 and Stress 3. These instruments were rotated until separation. For cyclic fatigue measurement, inclined plane was used and time for separation was recorded. It was statistically analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Duncan post-hoc test at 95% confidential level. In all ProTaper Universal, there was statistically significant decrease on time for separation in Stress 3. In F2 and F3, there were statistically significant difference between control group and all experimental groups. And in F4 and F5, Stress 2 and 3 groups showed significantly lower cyclic fatigue resistance from Stress 0 group. In the limitation of this study, cyclic fatigue failure of ProTaper Universal is influenced by accumulated internal stress.
In this study, fatigue tests on existing continuous welded rail (CWR) on a concrete track were carried out. Based on the test results, a S-N curve expressing the remaining life of the CWR at a fracture probability of 50% was obtained using weighted probit analysis suitable for small-sample fatigue data sets. As rails had different histories in terms of accumulated passing tonnage, the test data were corrected to average out the accumulated passing tonnage. The remaining service life for the CWR on the concrete track in an urban railway was estimated using the prediction equation for the bending stress of rail developed in the past to estimate rail base bending stress and taking the surface irregularities into consideration. Estimating the remaining service life of the CWR in an urban railway showed that the rail replacement period could be extended over 200MGT. In addition, comparing the concrete track to the ballast track, the fatigue life of rail was analyzed as approximately 300MGT higher than. Therefore, the rail replacement criteria needs to distinguish between the ballast track and the concrete track, and not the criteria needs to be changed as a target for the maintenance, although it is necessary to remove longitudinal rail surface irregularities at welds by grinding.

This study was conducted to investigate the material properties of stainless steel 316L specimens of untreated and UNSM treated material, hydrogen attacked material(100 bar, $300^{\circ}C$ at 120 h) and UNSM treated hydrogen attacked material at room temperature. Results demonstrated that the hydrogen attacked materials showed a tendency toward a slightly decreased fatigue strength, while the hydrogen embrittlement effect was smaller than the S-N curve of conventional untreated material. As compared to untreated material, the fatigue limit of the UNSM treated material increased by 43.8%, while it was 57.1% higher in the UNSM treated hydrogen attacked material than in untreated hydrogen attacked material. The plastic deformation layer was ${\sim}152{\mu}m$ thick, as confirmed by maps showing the level of local plastic deformation affected by the UNSM treatment in three ways: an image quality map, inverse pole figure map, and kernel average misorientation map captured via electron back scatter diffraction. Owing to hydrogen embrittlement, about 90% of surface cracks were smaller than the average grain size of $35{\mu}m$.

Corrosion of steel in the reinforced concrete structures is one of the main reason of degradation. It causes that lifetime of structures is shortened and maintenance cost is increased. And it also causes degradation of structures like bridges which are under repeated load. So, many research have been performed about FRP rebar. But there are few research about FRP rebar under fatigue. This study is to examine flexural characteristic of concrete beam reinforced with FRP(CFRP, GFRP) rebar under static and fatigue for considering the application. The specimens that used in this study are designed by ACI 440.1R-06 and reinforced with CFRP(CR) or GFRP(GR) overly. In the result of static bending test, all specimens were failed at compression phase. In fatigue test, the fatigue stress level was 60%, 70% or 80% of the static bending strength. Most of the specimens seemed to be compressive failure, but CR-60 and CR-70 specimens were failed with rupturing of tension bar.

This paper deals with the fatigue behavior and strength of a new-type of steel-concrete composite bridge deck. The new-type composite bridge deck consists of corrugated steel plate, welded T-beams, stud-type shear connectors and reinforced concrete filler. A total of eight composite bridge deck specimens were fabricated, the fatigue tests were conducted under four-point bending test with three different stress ranges in constant amplitude. According to the test results, the fatigue crack generated at the welding part of the corrugated steel plate, progressed down to the bottom of the steel plate and encountered the crack, which came out from the opposite side at the same position. After the two cracks were connected at the bottom of the steel plate, the lower flange was cut off and the fatigue crack developed up to the T-beam. And the displacements and strains of fatigue test specimens were increasing with cyclic loading number, these were changed sharply at the fatigue failure. The fatigue results are compared with the design S-N curves specified in the Korea Highway Bridge Design Specifications and data in NCHRP 102 and NCHRP 147 report. The new-type composite bridge deck has a stress category of C, which means that new-type composite bridge deck can be designed by the current fatigue design specifications provided for steel members.

Fatigue tests using a single-peak loading and a two-step loading were carried out to examine the fatigue crack growth behaviar and to find the appropriate analysis method. C-T specimens were made using structural steel SWS58 for the tests. From this, just after a single-peak loading acceleration effect was occured and after some times retardation effect was found. And eminent retardation effect was found after High-Low two-step loading. The transition effect of crack growth due to this variable loading was occured owing to the residual stress and the plastic zone size at the crack tip. And the behaviors of these are well explained by Elber's Crack Closure Model. Also I could find that the Wheeler's Retardation Model is a simple and appropriate theory among analysis methods of fatigue crack growth under the variable loading.

The local cyclic strain distribution near the crack tip has been investigated by the fine Dot Grid Strain Measurement Method, which had been suggested strain measurement method to resolve experimental difficulties by authors. It has been found that the magnitude of the local cyclic strain distribution(.DELTA..epsilon.$_{eq}$ )near a crack tip has been varied by the applied cyclic load level and material, but the shape of the local cyclic strain distribution near the crack tip has been experimentally scrarcely altered : that is .DELTA..epsilon.$_{eq}$ = .DELTA.A.f(.theta.). $r^{-1}$ . Consequently, the local cyclic strain field near the crack tip could be favorably characterized by a single parameter fatigue strain intensity factor .DELTA.A. In addition, with the viewpoint that .DELTA.A depends on material and load level, .DELTA.A has been applied to evaluate the fatigue crack propagation rate and usefulness of the result has been considered. As a result, it has been ascertained that .DELTA.A has been a useful parameter to evaluate the fatigue crack propagation rate.

Submarine and deep sea diving structures are generally designed based on their ultimate strength. Fatigue strength at welded joint must be also taken into account because working stress is increased due to the increasing of diving depth and using high yield steel. The pressure hulls of submarine are subjected to fluctuating compressive loading. But in addition to the calculated stresses, high residual tensile stresses at welded part have to be considered. The state of stress level of pressure hull is tensile at surface and compressive at deep diving depth. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation on the crack initiation and growth at the weld toe of T welded joints of HY-100 steel plate under constant amplitude loading. It is also investigated the phenomenon of the fatigue failure and test methods. Fatigue tests have been using real scaled local structural models of full penetration T-welded joint, which is a part of the cylindrical shell structures reinforced by ring stiffeners. Several load ratios under constant amplitude loading are considered in the tests. Crack initiation and growth characteristics are examined based on the beach marks of the cracked section of the test specimens. A design stress-life curve including the design formula is suggested according to tested data.

Structural stress approach is well known as a mesh-size insensitive fatigue assessment method by using finite element analyses. It is, however, difficult to estimate the structural stress (SS) at weld end points due to stress singularities when shell elements are used. In this study, fatigue evaluations with longitudinal load carrying box fillet weldment under out-of-plane bending load have been performed by using virtual node method (VNM) in order to avoid the problem, which is called the weld end effect. Various combinations of virtual node parameters, such as reference point and virtual node locations, are investigated for the estimation of proper structural stress values applying VNM in a systematic manner. The appropriate guidance of virtual node parameter has been offered for the fillet weldment considered in the study. The structural stress values obtained by VNM have also been validated by comparing the result with finite element model including weld bead. Moreover, the fatigue strength of the fillet weldment based on the equivalent structural stress is shown to be consistent with the master S-N curve.
