  • This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, MMA and SCA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel.. The transmitting signal will be distorted and received due to the nonlinearties of magnitude and phase transfer characteristics of communication channel, the compensation of it by using the self adaptive equalizer. The constant modulus has important metric in the self adaptive equalizer, the MMA uses the 2nd and 4th high order statistics of transmitting signal, the SCA uses the 2nd order statistics of transmitting signal only in order to the calculation of it. We compared to the compensation performance of the MMA and SCA by the computer simulation that are possible to the compensation of the two kinds of transfer characteristics at same times by the relatively simple arithmatic operation. We used to the recovered constellation, residual isi and MSE, SER that are the essential index for the comparison of the adaptive equalizer. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA which uses the high order statistics of transmitting signal has good performance in the MSE and SER compared to the SCA which is using the low order statistics. But in the recovered costellation and residual isi, the SCA has a good than the MMA.

  • Asphalt-based waterproofing materials for bridge decks face issues such as softening or liquefaction of the material during the process of pouring hot asphalt concrete on top of the waterproofing layer. This leads to instability and reduced thickness of the waterproofing layer. To address these problems, new solutions beyond the existing materials, including the development and adoption of new materials, are required. Therefore, this study investigates the properties of MMA(Methyl Methacrylate) coating waterproofing material, which meets the basic physical properties for bridge deck waterproofing. We examined the overall quality standards in a system where the substrate concrete, waterproofing material, and paving layer are integrated. The study confirmed the applicability of MMA coating waterproofing material on bridge decks. The results indicate that a stable application of MMA coating waterproofing material for civil engineering structures' bridge decks can be achieved with a mix ratio of hard MMA resin : soft MMA resin : powder = 6 : 34 : 60. Additionally, when using emulsified asphalt with hardening characteristics for the adhesion between the dissimilar materials of MMA waterproofing and asphalt concrete, it is expected to meet the minimum quality standards of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport's 'Guidelines for Asphalt Concrete Pavement Construction (2021.07)'.

  • In this paper, poly methyl methacrylate thin films were deposited on a ITO glass substrate using a plasma polymerization technique. In order to investigate the influence of the plasma coupling method and plasma conditions on the plasma polymerized poly methyl methacrylate (ppMMA) thin film properties, inductively coupled (ICP) and capacitively coupled plasma (CCP) were used to generate the plasma and the plasma parameters were varied. Molecular structures of the ppMMAs were investigated using a Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. Dielectric constants of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a impedance analyzer (HP4192A, LF Impedance Analyzer). Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics of the ppMMA thin films were investigated using a source measurement unit (SMU: Keithley 2400). Relationship between the plasma coupling technique/process parameter and ppMMA thin films properties were investigated.

  • The organic memory device was made by the plasma polymerization method which was not the dry process but the wet process. The memory device consist of the styrene and MMA monomer as the insulating layer, MMA monomer as the tunneling layer and Au thin film as the memory layer which was fabricated by thermal evaporation method. The I-V characteristics of fabricated memory device got the hysteresis voltage of 27 V at 40/-40 V double sweep measuring conditions. At this time, the optimized structure was 7 nm of Au thin film as floating gate, 400 nm of styrene thin film as insulating layer and 30 nm of MMA thin film as tunneling layer. Therefore we got the charge trapping characteristics by the hysteresis voltage. From the paper, styrene indicated a good charge trapping characteristics better than MMA. In the future, we expect to make devices by using styrene thin film rather than Au thin film.

  • This paper proposes a DFE (Decision Feedback Equalizer) equalizer ASIC using the Multi-Modulus Algorithm (MMA) for cable modem applications. We believe that it is the first effort to combine the DFE structure and the MMA algorithm. The proposed equalizer has been designed for 64/256 QAM modems. The existing MMA equalizer uses two transversal filters and updates two tap weights while the proposed equalizer uses two DFE filter banks to improve the channel adaptive performance and to reduce the number of taps and updates only one tap weights. We have used the 0.35 $\mu\textrm{m}$ standard cell library. The implemented equalizer ASIC operates at 8 MHz and provides 64 Mbps which is higher than existing equalizers. The total number of gates are about 160,000.

  • UDs were synthesized from two different polyols(PTMG, PBEAG), ionic chain extender(DMPA), EDA with $H_{12}-MDI$. PU/PMMA hybrids were prepared with free radical polymerization of MMA monomer in MMA-swelled PUD. PUD particle size and film properties were investigated ionic content and polyol type. Mechanical and thermal properties of PU/PMMA hybrid film were studied in terms of PU's ionic content and the venation of PU/PMMA compositions. As DMPA content increased from 2wt% to 10wt% in PUD, particle size of PUD decreased. PUD's particle size with ester type polyol was found to be smaller then ether type polyol used. Phase separation between hard segment(HS) and soft segment(SS) with ionic contents in PU was shown by the thermal, mechanical property measurement. Although the composition of MMA was changed from 0 to 40 wt% in PU/PMMA hybrid, the particle size of the hybrid did not increase. Using the ester type polyol, tensile strength of hybrid was found to increase by 2wt% - 6wt% DPMA content, but as higher content the strength of hybrid decreased. Moreover with the ether type polyol, tensile strength of hybrid was observed to increase by 2wt% - 4wt% DMPA content, while decreasing at higher content. PU and PMMA polymer molecule being mixed in molecular level was confirmed from the pattern of $T_g$ in DSC thermogram.

  • The bulk photopolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with disilanes such as 1,2-diphenyldisilane and 2-phenyl-1,3-disilapropane was carried out to yield poly(MMA)s containing the corresponding disilyl moiety presumably as an end group. It was found that while the polymerization yields and the polymer molecular weights decreased as the relative disilane concentration increased, the TGA residue yields and the relative intensities of SiH IR stretching bands increased with increment of molar ratio of disilane over MMA. The photopolymerization of MMA with 2-phenyl-1,3-disilapropane produced higher-molecular-weight polymer with lower TGA residue yield when compared to the photopolymerization of MMA with 1,2-diphenyldisilane. The disilanes seemed to significantly influence on the photopolymerization as both chain initiation and chain transfer agents.

  • The bulk photopolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with primary arylsilane (e.g., phenylsilane) and various primary alkylsilanes (e.g., benzylsilane, 3-phenoxyphenyl-1-silabutane, 3-naphthyl-1-silabutane, and 3-chlorophenyl-1-silabutane) was performed to produce poly(MMA)s containing the corresponding silyl moiety as an end group. It was found for the phenylsilane that while the polymerization yields increased and then decreased with a turning point at the molar ratio of MMA:silane=10:1 as the relative silane concentration increases, the polymer molecular weights decreased, and the TGA residue yields and the relative intensities of SiH IR stretching bands increased with increment of molar ratio of silane over MMA. The photopolymerization yield of MMA with the arylsilane was found to be higher than those with the alkylsilanes and without the silanes. Thus, the silanes seemed to significantly influence on the photopolymerization as both chain initiation and chain transfer agents.

  • In this paper, a novel analytical method, Max-Min Approach (MMA), has been presented and applied to consider the nonlinear vibration of dry cask storage systems. The nonlinear governing equation of the structure has been developed using the shell theory. The MMA results are compared with numerical solutions derived by Runge-Kutta's Method (RKM). The results indicate a satisfying agreement between MMA and numerical solutions. Parametric studies have been conducted on the nonlinear frequency of dry casks. The phase-plan of the problem is also presented and discussed. The proposed approach can potentially ca be extended to highly nonlinear problems.
