  • A CMOS band-pass delta-sigma modulator(BPDSM) and cascode class-E power amplifier have been developed CMOS for Class-S power amplifier applications. The BPDSM is operating at 1-GHz sampling frequency, which converts a 250-MHz sinusoidal signal to a pulse-width modulated digital signal without the quantization noise. The BPDSM shows a 25-dB SQNR(Signal to Quantization Noise Ratio) and consumes a power of 24 mW at an 1.2-V supply voltage. The class-E power amplifier exhibits an 18.1 dBm of the maximum output power with a 25% drain efficiency at a 3.3-V supply voltage. The BPDSM and class-E PA were fabricated in the Dongbu's 110-nm CMOS process.

To analyze the characteristics of the designed antenna, we used commerical simulation tool(HFSS). Triple and wide band characteristic could be realized the measured bandwidth(V.S.W.R<2.0) of the designed antenna operated in 1.71GHz${\sim}$1.99GHz. The size of the designed antenna is about 19mm${\times}$4mm${\times}$1.6mm, narrow bandwidth which is a defect of chip antenna is improved. And its experimental results were a good agreement with simulation performance.

  • Recently, many multimedia services have emerged in Internet such as real-time and non- real time services. However, in this Internet environment, we have some limitations to satisfy each service feature. To guarantee the service features in Measurement-Based Admission Control(MBAC) based system on the flow-aware network, there is the method applying Dynamic Priority Scheduling(DPS) algorithm that gives a higher priority to an earlier incoming flow in all of the link bandwidth. This paper classifies all flows under several groups according to flow characteristics on per-flow MBAC algorithm based system. In each flow group, DPS algorithm is applied. This paper proposes two methods that are a DPS based bandwidth borrowing method and a bandwidth dynamic allocation method. The former is that if low priority class has available bandwidths, the flow of high priority class borrows the bandwidth of low priority class when high priority flow has insufficient bandwidth to connect a flow call. The later is that the each group has a minimum bandwidth and is allocated the bandwidth dynamically according to the excess rate for available bandwidth. We compare and analyze the characteristics of the two proposed methods through the simulation experiments. As the results of the experiment, the proposed methods are more effective than existing DPS based method on the packet loss and delay characteristics. Consequently the proposed two methods are very useful in various multimedia network environments.

  • Existing wireless access (mobile) routers are based commonly on the network address and port translation (NAPT) technique which permits simultaneously sharing a subscriber's connection to the network with multiple users. However, the NAPT architecturally makes the users invisible on the network side, thus becoming a user-oriented connection technique. In this paper, we propose a novel service provider-oriented unlicensed nomadic access relay station (WiNNERS) for helping wireless broadband network service providers to make their business more lucrative by accommdating unlicensed band users as subscribers into their network. The WiNNERS offers service providers the capability to directly manage each of the unlicensed band users at the network side. This direct management allows the service providers to flexibly and simply handle QoS, access control, and billing for each user. In order to distinguish each of the unlicensed band users the WiNNERS constructs a virtual tunnel from each user's terminal to the network access router using connection identifiers which is defined for service flow management within the WiBro system, Consequently, our proposed service provider-oriented relay station can be included into the WiBro network system with minimum modifications.

  • The Multi-Band Excitation(MBE) speech coder uses a different approach for the representation of the excitation signal. It replaces the frame-based single voiced/unvoiced classification of a classical speech coder with a set of such decision over harmonic intervals in the frequency domain. This enables each speech segment to be a mixture of voiced and unvoiced, and improves the synthetic speech quality by reducing decision errors that might occur on the frame-based single voiced and unvoiced decision process when input speech is degraded with noise. The IMBE-LP, improved version of MBE with linear prediction, represents the spectral information of MBE model with linear prediction coefficients to obtain low bit rate of 2.4 kbps. In this Paper, we proposed a variable rate IMBE-LP vocoder that has lower bit rate than IMBE-LP without degrading the synthetic speech quality. To determine the LP order, it uses the spectral band information of the MBE model that has something to do with he input speech's characteristics. Experimental results are riven with our findings and discussions.

  • In this paper, a microstrip antenna for LTE / WiMAX is designed for UWB communication. The proposed antenna is designed for FR-4 (er = 4.3), 29[mm] x 45[mm], and can be used in the LTE frequency band of 1.82[GHz] and the WiMAX frequency band of 3.5[GHz]. Studio 2014 was used. The simulation results show 1.785[dB] at 1.82[GHz] and 1.720[dB] at 3.5[GHz]. S-parameters were also found to be less than -10dB (WSWR2: 1) in the desired frequency band. In order to achieve broadband, miniaturization, low cost and low loss, Width, length, width of transmission line, etc. were calculated. Therefore, it is considered that the applicable antenna can be applied satisfying the desired condition.

  • In this letter, we designed monopole microstrip antenna for WLAN / WiMAX system. The monopole antenna is designed by FR-4 substrate with size is $30mm{\times}40mm$. The proposed antenna is based on a planar monopole design which cover WLAN and WiMAX frequency bands. To obtainthe optimized parameters, we used the simulator, CST's Microwave Studio Program and found the parameters that greatly effect antenna characteristics. Using the obtained parameters, the antenna is designed. Thus the proposed antenna satisfied the -10 dB impedance bandwidth requirement while simultaneously covering the WLAN and WiMAX bands. And characteristics of gain and radiation patterns are obtained for WLAN/WiMAX frequency bands.

  • In this paper, a new compact power divider is suggested. Instead of the quarter wavelength transmission line(TX-line)s for the branches of the conventional Wilkinson's power divider design method, we use our composite right- and left-handed(CRLH) TX-line zeroth order resonator(ZOR) bandpass filters of one twelfth wavelength and reduce the physical length of the power divider. Besides, the filters in the branches can secure the passband for power-division. To validate the proposed power divider, we take an L-band for millitary satellaite transponder as the test case and the performances of the circuit and full-wave simulation results with the CRLH properties of the structure are shown with the dispersion curve and E-field at the ZOR. The measurement is compared with the simulation results. Also, the size reduction effect by the proposed scheme is addressed

  • This paper proposes the design method based on the Composite Right/Left-Handed(CRLH) structure to miniaturize and enhance the rejection performance in the stopband of the bandpass filter for a VHF band($169{\sim}211\;MHz$). For realization, we used the 0-th order resonance point of the CRLH and the simple theory of Inverter as coupling. The proposed technique is validated by the performance predictions and experiments, (Insertion loss <2 dB, $S_{11}$< -15 dB, suppression of up to the 3rd harmonic) and it is found out that the suggested method enables the size reduction of around 60 % from the conventional filters such as the parallel edge coupled type.
