  • This paper reviews the history of the birth and development of the skyscraper in Japan, mainly from the perspective of the legal system, and presents the following points: 1) After 1919, building height was limited to 31 m or less, which continued after the war and defined the skyline of Japan's major cities; 2) The 31-meter height limit became a problem during rapid economic growth. With the development of tall building construction technology, the height limit was eliminated, and skyscrapers were born in Japan in the 1960s; 3) Later, the number of skyscrapers increased more rapidly in the post-bubble period after the collapse of the bubble economy in the 2000s than in the boom years of the 1980s, when the floor-area ratio was relaxed for economic uplift and urban renewal. The number of skyscrapers increased rapidly against the backdrop of the deregulation of the floor-area ratio.

  • The biological nutrient treatment is formed with repetition and rearrangement of anaerobic, anoxic and oxic tank. In this case, VFAs is generated in the anaerobic tank and the anoxic tank. The VFAs is an important factor for removal of nitrogen and phosphate and SVI. So, in this study I investigated to find a relationship among the generation rate of the VFAs according to the change of F/M ratio and the characteristic which can eliminate organic matter and nitrogen according to the change of residual concentration of the VFAs and the efficiency of the process and also SVI in wastewater treatment. $A^2/O$ process was used for wastewater treatment. F/M ratio was under the control of the change of MLSS concentration. When the F/M ratio was changed from 0.16 to 0.08 kg-BOD/kg-MLSS/day, the VFAs's production volume increased based on the reduction of F/M ratio in batch reaction. And the residual concentration of the VFAs decreased at first and then increased later. SVI and SS were high when F/M ratio was $0.16kg/kg{\cdot}d$ and showed stable status when F/M ratio decreased $0.11{\sim}0.13kg/kg{\cdot}d$. However, SVI and SS continuously increased with decrease of F/M ratio and were high at $0.08kg/kg{\cdot}d$. In the result of comparison between residual concentration of the VFAs and denitrification rate in anoxic tank, the less residual volume of the VFAs was in anoxic tank, the higher denitrification ratio became. The optimal residual-concentration of the VFAs considering SVI and removal efficiency of nitrogenwas $1.4{\sim}2.2mg/L$. At that time F/M ratio was $0.11{\sim}0.13$ kg-BOD/kg-MLSS/day.

  • A trial was conducted to determine the effect of low crude protein (CP) diets with constant metabolizable energy to crude protein (ME:CP) ratio on growth, body composition and nutrient utilization of broiler chicks from 1 to 26 days of age. Four dietary treatments having four levels of CP and ME as 23, 22, 21 and 20% and 3,036, 2,904, 2,772 and 2,640 kcal/kg, respectively, were formulated and a ME:CP ratio of 132 was maintained in all the diets. Digestible lysine was maintained at 1.10 of the diet. A total of 1,760 day-old Hubbard broiler chicks were randomly divided into 16 experimental units and each diet was offered to four experimental units at random. Feed intake was increased (p<0.05) while weight gain and feed conversion ratio were adversely affected (p<0.05) when the diets with low CP and ME were fed to broilers. Total protein intake and total ME intake were linearly decreased (p<0.05) and protein efficiency ratio and energy efficiency ratio were lower (p<0.05) than in the chicks fed dietary regimen with 22% CP and 2,904 kcal/kg ME. The whole body analysis of the birds revealed that chicks fed the lowest dietary regimens retained less (p<0.05) nitrogen and more ether extract than chicks fed the control diet, however, body dry matter, total body ash and fat free body protein were not affected. Similarly, protein and energy utilization were also unaffected by the dietary treatments. In summary, chicks fed low CP diets with constant ME:CP ratio grew slower, used feed less efficiently and retained less protein and more body fat than chicks fed the control diet.

  • The effects of inlet gas velocity (0.26-0.31 m/s), inlet gas temperature (315-353 K) and the mass ratio (0.1-0.4) of fine polymer (crosslinked poly methyl methacrylate beads) to inert medium particles on the drying rate of fine polymer in a 0.15 m-ID ${\times}$ 1.0 m-high inert medium fluidized bed dryer have been investigated. Crosslinked PMMA beads of 20 ${\mu}m$ (group C) were used as fine polymer, and glass beads of 590 ${\mu}m$ (group B) were used as the inert medium. The drying rate increases with increasing inlet gas temperature and velocity. However, the drying rate decreases slightly as the mass ratio of fine polymer to inert medium particles increases. The particle size distribution of dried fine polymers was mono distribution.

  • In this study, anaerobic co-digestion was carried out using desulfurization sludge and sewage sludge (primary sludge) to evaluate the effects of sulfur compounds in anaerobic digestion. The experiment was carried out in the form of a batch test using 500 mL duran bottle, and the mixing ratio of the feedstock was selected based on the ratio of COD/SO4. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that the amount of biogas generated and the yield decreased at the mixing ratio of COD/SO4 20 or less. In particular, below COD/SO4 10, it was lower than seed (283.5 mL) which was set without feedstock to correct biogas generated by itself from seed sludge. Methane yield tended to decrease from a ratio of COD/SO4 20 or less to 0.135 m3/kg VS compared to 0.396 m3/kg VS of COD/SO4 50. In addition, compared to 0.0097 m3/kg VS of hydrogen sulfide yield from COD/SO4 50, the ratio of COD/SO4 20 increased sharply to 0.0223 m3/kg VS, and in particular, the highest result was 0.0855 m3/kg VS in COD/SO4 10. Based on these results, it is judged that the effect of sulfide in anaerobic digestion can have an adverse effect if the COD/SO4 ratio decreases to less than 20.

  • Nebramycin is a complex of aminocyclitol compounds that is produced by aerobic culture in fermentation process. The major antibiotic factors produced by Streptoalloteichus hindustanus are nebramycin factor 2, 4, 5'and kanamycin A. A mutant was selected, producing nebramycin factor 5' activity 16.4 times higher than parent strain by microbiological assay using Pseudomonas aeruginosa CH-U34AF. The component ratio of nebramycin factor 5' was dramatically increased from 34% to 70% by the optimization of fermentation condition. It was found that the component ratio of nebramycin factor 5' in fermentation was especially affected by the oxygen transfer rate. Optimum oxygen transfer rate for maximal nebramycin factor 5' productivity and ratio during S. hindustanus fermentation was elucidated to $0.50 mMO_2$/min.

  • This study aimed to obtain high Fischer's ratio oligopeptides from goat whey (HFO) and investigate antioxidant property of it. Hydrolysis of goat whey was done with the approach of sequential digestion of pepsin and flavourzyme. With the adsorption of aromatic amino acids by activated carbon, HFO with a Fischer's ratio of 27.070 and a molecular weight of 200-1,000 Da were obtained, and the branched-chain amino acids accounted for 22.87%. Then the antioxidant activity of HFO was evaluated. At the concentrations of 2.0 mg/mL and 0.50 mg/mL, HFO scavenged 77.27% and 99.63% of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl and 3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonate free radicals respectively. The scavenging rate of HFO against hydroxyl radicals reached 92.31% at the concentration of 0.25 mg/mL. Animal experiments demonstrated that HFO could moderate the changes of malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase caused by CCl4-induced oxidative stress in vivo. This study indicated that HFO from goat whey was capable of oxidation resistance both in vivo and in vitro, which provided a scientific basis for the high-value processing and application of goat milk whey.

  • Coagulation, flocculation, and dissolved air flotation (DAF) experiments were performed with humic acid to evaluate the influence of operational conditions on removal efficiencies. We investigated coagulation, flocculation, and flotation conditions of humic acid removal using a laboratory-scale DAF system. This paper deals with coagulant type (aluminum sulfate and PSO-M) and the most relevant operational conditions (velocity gradients for coagulation and flocculation, retention time and recycle ratio and flotation time). Results showed that optimal conditions for removing humic acid, yielding CHA removal efficiencies of approximately 85 %, are a recycle ratio of 40 %, coagulant dosages of 0.15 - 0.20 gAl/gHA as aluminum sulfate and 0.03 - 0.12 gAl/gHA as PSO-M, coagulation($400s^{-1}$ and 60s), flocculation($60s^{-1}$ and 900s or more), and flotation(490 kPa or more and at least 10 min).

  • In order to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of Kamisinsunbulo-dan(KSM), the cytotoxicity of amyloid β and the recovering effect of KSM were checked at first. Then the viability of C6 cells was tested in comparison with each concentration of KSM. The cytotoxicity of amyloid β(31-35) showed from 5 μM higher to 100 μM. And the recovering effect by KSM showed significantly at 100㎍/㎖. concentration. And the cell viability was shown significantly over 200 ㎍/㎖ of KSM. This is thought that the viability has some relation to length of culturing duration, 6 to 12 hrs. Lastly in the western blotting of APP, the amount of low molecule's APP was decreased. So the APP form ratio(APPr) changed to increase, and it meant that KSM can be used to lower the toxic APP, and can be a candidate for Alzheimer's disease.

  • Soymilk prepared from soaked beans under processing conditions indicating in table 2, mixed with vegetable oil, carbohydrate, whey powder, and sodium-caseinate, and fortified with essential amino acids, vitamins and minerals and then made the imitation milk by spray drying. The Feed Efficiency Ratio (FER) and Over-All Nutritive value of spray dried imitation milk were tested with weanling Albino Rats and by chemical analysis methods. The FER of imitation milk M-2, and humanized milk, were respectively 0.24, 0.25 and that of cow's milk, imitation milk M-1 were 0.21, 0.20, compared with 0.24 for imitation milk M-2. The amino acid and fatty acid composition in imitation milk were analyzed by Gaschromatography and Amino Acid Autoanalyzer. The present paper describes the result of studies on the Feed Efficiency Ratio and Over-All Lutritive value concerning amino acid and fatty acid composition in imitation milk. We found that quality of essential amino acids and polyunsaturate fatty acid composition in imitation milk have an strong effect on Feed Efficiency Ratio.
