  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the framework for innovation policy that the approach to popularization, diffusion, and S&T culture through the science and technology(S&T) fair. The innovation policy has a role which suggests direction to do behavior and concerns to social members. According to, this point of the diffusion of the S&T culture emerges the reasonable and adoptable innovation policy. Korean S&T fair have many problems, for example, a short historical background, lack of the fund and special human resource, so on. In this aspect, this study provides theoretical reviews and several issues for publicity of the innovation policy and S&T popularization and culture through the representative case-Future Tech Korea2006. Also, this study argues that "How to build and improve S&T fair", and "What the figure of S&T is that communicate and approach to people". Finally, the research for the S&T fair gives detailed and realized strategies for improving them.

  • Science & Technology (S&T) is the most important thing to attain competitiveness in the 21st century. Our traditional S&T policies have been focused on hardware infra structure. But, we should consider soft infra of S&T to enhance welfare development of S&T personnel. S&T should be had a correct understanding method of the creation for S&T culture. It implies that S&T policy in the 21st century should consider non-material factors which include social, human, environment and culture. Under this background. This paper defines the concept of welfare of S&T personnel. Also this paper deals with the change of S&T policy of Korea and analyzes the characteristic of each phase. This paper argues that all actors (for example S&T personnel, corporate using S&T, public) should participate in the process of S&T innovation since the 21st century is the generation of popularization of S&T. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a few methods of welfare improvement of S&T personnel to reinforce soft infra structure of S&T.

생활 한복의 치수규격 표준화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Size Standardization of Saengbwal Hanbok)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the standard size system of Saenghwal Hanbok for design development and popularization. As a sample, 20's and 40's female data among the 1997's National Somatometry Survey data were used because two groups have different somatic characteristics and design tastes with each other. The results are as follows; From t-test of 35 somatometric items in 20's and 40's female data, we knew that the differentiated size system proper to each age is needed. We also knew that the 38 Saenghwal Hanbok brands don't have consistent size system from investigation of size list and size application. From consideration on the number of size for production and coverage rate, we suggested regression formula by bust circumference and stature, and suggested advanced standard size system which are proper to each 20' and 40' female group.

John Tyndall(1820-1894), Who Brought Physics and the Public Together

  • The developments of science education until the middle of the 20th century were often driven by personal ideas and achievements of some influential individual scientists (e.g. T. H. Huxley, H. E. Armstrong. L. Hogben, J. Conant). while that of the 2nd half of the 20th century can be characterized as collective efforts through various research grou ps of science educators (e.g. PSSC, HPP, Nuffield, SATIS). In this respect, John Tyndall(1820-1894), a physicist of the Victorian England best known as Tyndall's Effect, can be considered as one of the great scientists who made a big influence on science teaching and the popularization of science before science secured its place in school curricula. Tyndall worked as a research scientist at the Royal Institution of London, where various lectures and demonstrations of physical sciences were regularly performed for general public, and he was particularly famous for his fascinating physics demonstrations. In this study, we summarize his activities and achievements as a teacher as well as a popularizer of physics, illustrate some of his famous demonstrations and his ideas concerning physics teaching and discuss their implications to today's physics education.

호스피스 자원봉사자 교육이 영적 안녕에 미치는 효과

  • The purpose of this study was to promote the popularization of hospice services by providing the information about the influences of hospice training on participants. We compared differences of pre-training and post-training by use of questionnaire. This study involved 59 volunteers participating in the hospice training held by one hospice center located in K-city. The questionnaire was composed of 41 items, 21 items of general information and 20 items of information about spiritual welling-being. We applied Choi's translated version(1990), originally distributed by Paloutzion and Ellison(1982), in the assessment of participants' changed spiritual welling-being score. Participants were asked to fill out the questionnaire before and after the hospice training. The data were analyzed by frequency, paired t-test. The results were as follows, There were significant differences in participants' spiritual welling-being score. Compared with pretraining(3.51), more spiritual well-being score were improved in post-training(3.69)(t=-2.45, p<.05). The results of this study indicate that hospice training improve spiritual well-being score to the participants. In conclusion, hospice training should be popularized in the near future.

  • 인터넷의 등장은 과학기술정보의 생산과 유통에 많은 변화를 초래하고 있다. 기존 과학기술정보들은 주로 문헌위주로 생산되었다. 그러나, 인터넷이 대중화되면서 온라인 과학기술정보들이 대량으로 생산되고 있으며, 그 활용이나 중요도 또한 과학기술분야의 문헌에 뒤지지 않고 있다. 온라인 과학기술정보의 양적 질적 성장으로 인해, 정보서비스기관들은 이들 정보들의 체계적인 관리와 효율적인 서비스를 고민하고 있으며, 다양한 정보관리방법을 모색하고 있다. 효율적인 정보 관리를 위한 방법 중의 하나인 분류체계는 주요한 이슈이며, 지금까지는 문헌정보 중심의 분류체계나 일반 웹사이트의 분류체계를 벤치마킹하여 온라인 과학기술정보를 위해 도입되는 경우가 많았다. 본고에서는 국가 차원의 표준분류를 이용하여, 온라인 과학기술정보를 위한 분류체계 구성방안을 실천적으로 제시하여 보았다.

Research on the Application of VR Technology in Meteorological Simulation

  • Recent years, due to the direct or indirect damages caused by meteorological disasters more and more attention have been paid to natural disasters. At same time, diversified and multi-sensory interactive meteorological services is increasingly demanded. In this study, novel interactive meteorological service was compared with the traditional communication methods. Combining with case studies and systems creation, a virtual reality weather simulation framework was proposed, and a realistic virtual game environment providing real-time and historical weather information was created. The primary goal of this study is to build a weather display cabinet game system by using virtual reality technology, and promoting public's understanding of the principles of weather changes. With the interactive games in realistic scenarios, public's awareness for disasters prevention could be promoted. It is helping to change public's traditional understanding of meteorological theories, and will provide a more convenient way for the public to explore more effective weather forecasts. The simulation system is supported by VR technology. It was combined with Leap Motion interactive equipment to make popularization games for weather science. T-test data analysis showed that the application of VR technology in weather games has strong operability and interactivity.

무채색 무늬가 포함된 배경색의 파스텔색상에 따른 뇌파반응 (Brain Waves Evoked by the Changes of Background Pastel Colors with a Pattern of Achromatic Color)

  • Recently, consumers' evaluation and purchase of online design has been increasing due to the popularization of designing through personal computers, but there has not been enough studies on consumers' brain wave responses depending on the change of PC monitor's color. Therefore, this study investigated how brain waves changed when different background colors with gray patterns were presented through PC monitors. Six background colors with same tone of slightly low saturation were selected, including ivory, yellow, pink, green, blue and pure white as a base color. The brightness and characteristics of color used were analyzed using the luminance meter and color scales. Brain wave was measured by EEG measurement equipment. Brain wave measurement was carried out with 9 subjects at 6 points: F3, F4, T3, T4, O1, and O2. Stimuli were shown for 15 seconds each and black screens were displayed for 15 seconds between each stimulus. As results, the brain waves at O1 responded sensitively by different background colors, followed by F4 and T4. Brain index such as 'RT', 'RA', 'RG', 'RSA', and 'RAHB' showed significant differences depending on the background color at O1, whereas 'RST' differed at F4. Yellow and blue backgrounds pair was the only stimuli that showed significant differences in six brain indices mentioned. Yellow background had higher value of 'RG' at O1 and higher 'RST' at F4, indicating yellow background enhanced concentration. Blue background activated 'RT', 'RA', 'RSA', 'RAHB' at O1, meaning blue background induced calm and stable state.

사용자 선호도와 시각적 기술자를 이용한 사용자 프로파일 기반 이미지 추천 알고리즘 (Image recommendation algorithm based on profile using user preference and visual descriptor)

  • 정보 기술과 인터넷의 발전은 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 양에 있어서 폭발적인 성장을 가져 왔으며 이러한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 양의 증가는 이용자의 요구에 맞는 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 추천에 대한 필요성을 더 증가 시켰다. 현재까지 일반상품과 멀티미디어 컨텐츠 추천을 위한 기법에는 협업필터링 (CF: Collaborative Filtering)이 있다. 하지만 기존의 CF 기법은 이미지가 갖고 있는 시각적 특징을 제대로 표현하지 못하고 있으며, 입력 데이터의 희박성 (Sparsity) 문제와 신상품 추천 문제 그리고 선호도의 동적인 변화 문제를 포함하고 있기 때문에 이미지 컨텐츠 추천에는 적합하지 않다. 이와 같은 기존의 CF기법의 단점을 해결하기 위해서 본 논문에서는 새로운 이미지 추천 방법으로 FBCF (Feature Based Collaborative Filtering) 기법을 제안한다. FBCF 기법은 시각적 특징을 선호도에 따라 군집화한 새로운 사용자 프로파일 구성방법을 제시하며, 선호도 피드백을 통하여 구매자의 현재 성향을 추천에 반영할 수 있다. 실제 모바일 이미지 데이터를 사용한 실험에서 FBCF 기법이 기존의 CF 기법보다 400% 향상된 성능을 보임을 확인할 수 있다.

Use of 3D Printing Technology to Create Personal Fashion: UTAUT and Need for Uniqueness

  • This study investigated the perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors of potential consumers toward using 3D printers to create their personal clothes. An online survey and a series of Welch's t-tests and ANOVA were conducted to investigate the differences in demographic characteristics, prior experiences in 3D printing, and levels of need for uniqueness among the sub-groups. A multiple linear regression analysis was performed to test the relationships among variables of the modified Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT). There were significant differences in gender and prior experiences regarding the UTAUT of personal 3D printing. The need for uniqueness has a positive effect on consumers' intention to use 3D printing technology for designing personal clothes and perception of the price of the 3D printer used to create individual clothes is important. Positive relationships were found between UTAUT variables as well as the use and purchase intentions. This study analyzed the potential for popularization of 3D printing technology to create fashion items and explore consumer willingness to embrace and use personal fashion designs. The results of this study are expected to assist consumers, designers, retailers and marketers, and experts in 3D printing technology by providing insight into consumer awareness and acceptance of personalized 3D-printed fashion and products.
