Prolamins are the main seed storage proteins in cereals. Gluten proteins seem to be prolamins because their primary structure have the meaningful quantity of proline and glutamine amino acid residues. Gluten proteins are found in crops such as wheat (Triticum aestivum), barley (Hordeum vulgare), and rye (Secale cereale) which are major food crops in the Triticeae tribe. Glutenin and gliadin, hordein, and secalin are typical gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye, respectively. Gluten affect grain quality so that many researches, such as isolation or characterization of their genes, have been carried out. To improve the quality of grains in the Triticeae tribe, it is necessary to understand the relationship within their gluten proteins and their evolutionary changes. The sequences of nucleotides and amino acids of gluten protein including glutenins, gliadins, hordeins, and secalins were retrieved from NCBI (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/) and Uniprot (http://www.uniprot.org/). The sequence analysis and the phylogenetic analysis of gluten proteins were performed with various website tools. The results demonstrated that gluten proteins were grouped with their homology and were mostly corresponded with the previous reports. However, some genes were moved, duplicated, or disappeared as evolutionary process. The obtained data will encourage the breeding programs of wheat, barley, rye, and other crops in the Triticeae tribe.
This study was carried out to improve utilization of fly ash. Each animal waste was mixed with fly ash and composted This compost used at forage crops with corn, rye and alfalfa to examine to examine the fertilized efficiency and investigated productivity of forage crops, composition of this copmost and effect of fly ash on soil characteristics and composition. Content of organic matte, P2O5, K2O, CaO, MgO, Mn and B at the soil, which is given fly ash, increased. After the test crops were harvested, pH of the soil was maintained about 7 and contents of organic matter, phosphoric aicd, K, Mg, and B was increased at the soil of used fly ash. As fly ash was mixed, each DM yield of corn and rye was increased 10∼13% and 14∼21% especially alfalfa was increased 35% at the soil which is mixed fly ash with cage layer manure. As fly ash was mixed, each Crude protein (CP) of corn and rye was increased 6∼17% and about 29%, especially, as fly and cage layer manure was mixed CP of alfalfa was increased 33%. In conclusion, as fly ash is mixed with anlmal waste and use at forage crops, It makes the soil good and improve the productivity of forage crops.
In order to find out the optimum harvest (dipping) date combined with sowing date on yield and nutrient quality of forage rye which is suitable at the Southern part of Korea, Paldanghomil variety was grown Sep. 2001 to May 2002 at Sunchon National University, and yield and nutrient quality of plant were observed. As harvest date and sowing date were delayed, the plant length was longest, number of leaves per plant was increased in the time of May 20 clipping. Fresh yield was the heaviest in the time of May 20 clipping and Oct. l0 sowing, and the most dry matter yield was the heaviest in the time of May 20 clipping and Oct. 10 sowing. Content of crude protein was the highest and that of crude fiber such as NDF, ADF, hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin were the lowest in the late time of clipping and sowing. Further more IVDMD was high and dry matter yield and digestible dry matter yield were the highest in the time of May 20 dipping and Oct. 10 sowing. Judging from the results reported above, at optimum harvest (dipping) date combined with sowing date for yield and nutrient quality of forage rye seemed to be the time of May 20 clipping and Oct. 10 sowing.
Nitrogen fixation by legumes can be valuable sources for organic farming. This study was to investigate the effect of different legume mixtures on nitrogen fixation and transfer to grasses on spring paddy field. Three different mixtures were used (rye+hairy vetch, Italian ryegrass+crimson clover, oat+pea) in a randomized complete block design with three replications and sowed in pots with different sowing rate (5:5 rye:hairy vetch,7:3=Italian:crimson, 6:4=oat:pea) on early March. $(^{15}NH_4)SO_4$ solution at. 99.8 atom%$^{15}N$ was applied to the each pot at the rate of 2kg N $ha^{-1}$ on $16^{th}$ April. Forage were harvested at ground level in heading stage and separated into legume and grass. Total N content and $^{15}N$ value were determined using a continuous flow stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry. DM yield of rye+vetch, Italian+crimson and oat+pea were 6,607, 3,213 and 4,312kg/ha, respectively. Proportion of N from fixation was 0.73(rye+vetch), 0.42(Italian+crimson) and 0.93(oat+pea). The percentages of N transfer from legume to grass were from 61% to 24% in different method by treatments and -35% to 21% in isotope dilution method.
J.D. Salinger's 1951 novel, Catcher in the Rye, has generally been known as a story of a young rebel, Holden Caulfield, who tries to break away from reality in the fifties, a decade prevalent with the strict rule and faultfinding culture of what he is taught at school: to simplify and unify. This novel often refers to a journey of an outsider who commits to playing a catcher in the rye, a fantasy world of innocence, infinity, and youth. As the story unfolds, Holden's ontology is rendered to show how vulnerable his affective ontology is to the ideological reality of containment and conformity. This informs how Holden is a pathological character that reifies the performative crisis of the postwar US Cold War ideology. That said, this paper examines the extent to which this novel can be possibly read as a narrative of illness to expose Holden's pathological conditions of illness, hysteria, and psychosis. Thus, it looks at his medical symptoms whose pathogens I attempt to analyze in terms of his affective potential of being ontologically engaged to the historical context, or the political unconscious, of the postwar US in the early Cold War years.
This study was performed to screen fallow crops during winter period for improvement of soil quality and utilizing as mulching material in watermelon cropping system during winter period. Five fallow crops, mainly, hairy vetch, barley, rye, oat and wheat, were sown in early November. They were mowed for covering the soil surface instead of polyethylene (PE) film before watermelon planting in early April the following year. The highest absorbed nutrients and dry matter yield were found in rye. Bulk density in plots with fallow crop was lower than control plot. There was observed no significant differences among the fallow crops. However, porosity was the lowest in control plot. Soil EC reduced to 12%, 13%, 14%, 16% and 22%, respectively, by cultivation of hairy vetch, oat, wheat, barley and rye. Microbial biomass carbon and dehydrogenase activities were higher in soil treated with gramineous crops, such as barley, rye and oat. The growth of watermelon was more affected by regeneration of fallow crop than the occurrence of weed, especially in plots treated with rye or oat. Also, the fruit damage by aphid was found severe in these treatment plots. The fruit yield in plots treated with hairy vetch and barley was increased 5.7% and 2.6%, respectively, compared to that of PE films. The present experiment findings implied that these fallow crops had significant beneficial effects on improvement of soil qualities and could be utilized for mulching materials in watermelon cropping system.

This study was carried out to estimate the effect of selected inoculants on chemical compositions and fermentation characteristics of rye silage. Rye was harvested at dough stage and divided into 5 treatments, following: No additives (CON); L. plantarum R48-27 (LP27); L. buchneri R4-26 (LB26); Mixture of LP27 and LB26 at 1:1 ratio (MIX); and L. buchneri (LB). The rye forage was ensiled into 10 L bucket silo for 100 days. The contents of NDF and ADF were lowest (P<0.05) in LB26. The pH in LB26, MIX, and LB were lower (P<0.05) than CON and LP27. Lactate content in LB was higher (P<0.05) than the others, while acetate content in LB26 and LB were higher (P<0.05) than that in CON and LP27. Lactate to acetate ratio was highest (P<0.05) in LB, but lowest in LB26. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) count in LB was higher (P<0.05) than that in CON, while yeast count in CON was lower than in all silages applied inoculants. In conclusion, silages inoculated with LB26 could improve potentially the aerobic stability caused by increases of acetate and propionate concentrations.
A 2-year neld study was conducted to compare the influence of harvesting datrs on agronomie characteristlcs, forage yield and quality of four winter rye (fecafe cereofe L.) cultivars at the experi-mental fold of Livestock Farm, College of Agriculture, Seoul National University, Suwon. All rye rultlvars were winter hardy. Winter more and Elbon were upright in growth and early inmaturity with tall plant height, while Korean native and Kodiak were semi-prostrate and prostrate, respectively in growth and later in maturity with shorter height.Dry matter yields of Winter more and Elbon were significantly higher those of Korean native andKodiak harvested in early In 1985 and 1986. There were no slgnincant differences in dry matter yieldof the rye cultivars harvested in late in 1985, but Winter more and Elbon were signifcantly higherforage yield than the two other cultivars harvested in late in 1986.Crude protein (CP) concentrations of Korean native and Kodiak were signifcantly higher thanthose of Winter more and Elbon harvested in both early and late in 1986.There were no significant differences in tu uifro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) of the rye col-tivars harvested in early in 1986, but those of Korfan native and Kodiak were signiHcantly lligher thanthe two other cultivars harvested in late.CP and IVDDM yields of Winter more and Elbon were significantly higher than those of Koreannative and Kodiak harvested in early in 1986. but no signiFcant differences were round among the ryeco]tivars haryested In late.

These experiments were to investigate the variations of rye on forage quality, productivity and β-carotene concentration affected by maturity in Pyeongchang region. Limited information are available about how forage quality and β-carotene content are affected by various factors. Samples were collected from rye harvested every 5 days, from April 25 to May 31 (April 25, April 30, May 4, May 9, May 15, May 21, May 25 and May 31). Dry matter (DM) content, plant height, DM yield and total digestible nutrient (TDN) yield increased continuously with the progressed maturity. However, crude protein (CP) content, in vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) and relative feed value (RFV) decreased markedly with the delay of harvesting, while TDN content decreased from April 25 till May 15, then followed by a stable fluctuation. Conversely, acid detergent fiber (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) value increased and then fluctuated slightly after blooming stage. For quality of plant parts, stem contained the lowest CP content and RFV value, and the highest ADF and NDF contents compared with other parts, while the grain showed the higher CP, IVDMD, RFV and lower fiber contents than others. With the plant matured, leaf proportion decreased while stem and grain proportion increased, and feed value of all the three parts decreased till blooming stage and followed by a stable phase. β-carotene concentration showed its highest on jointing stage, and then fell down sharply on the sequential stages. In conclusion, harvest around May 15 (blooming) is proper for forage rye if directly consumed by livestock as green chop in Pyeongchang under the consideration of both nutritive yield and forage quality.
This study was conducted to evaluate mineral content of Winter Rye, Nitrogen Balance, Soil chemical characteristics and NO,-N level in infiltration water as affected by different slurry application on the basis of N contents respectively and was arranged as a randomized complete block design with seven treatments (chemical fertilizer 160kg Nha, cattle slurry 160 . 320 - 480kg Nha, swine slurry 160 - 320 - 480kg Nha) and conducted at National Livestock Research Institute, RDA, in Suweon fiom Sep. 1996. to Apr. 1997. The results obtained are summarized as follows : Nirogen, Phosphorous, Calcium and Potassium of Winter Rye slightly increased as slurry application level was increased (p$NO_3$-N content ($\mu$g/g) of Winter Rye was shown fiom 780 to 1,462 in all treatments, especially , the swine slurry plots were significantly higher than that of cattle sluny plots (p < 0.05). As slurry application increased, show a marked trend toward surplus N input in all treatment. The pH of the topsoil (0~IOcm) was shown 6om 5.1 to 5.4 except the plot of chemical fertilizer before experiment pH of 5.1, but the pH of the subsoil (10~20cm) tended not to be regular. The content of available ,TEX>$P_2O_5$ inaeased with the increased application of slurry, particularly, the topsoil (O- 1Ocm) were much higher than the subsoil (10~20cm). The $NO_3$-N content of infiltration water (depth:lm) was increased as affected by sluny application.
