  • Problems of housing, healthcare, social exchanges, and lonely feelings of vulnerable social groups such as the elderly living alone in rural and fishing villages should be resolved by guaranteeing minimum residential rights and levels to restore the sense of self-esteem and social stability and to maintain the rural communities and these should be the object of social interest and support. The housing problems of rural and fishing villages should be resolved not through supply to meet demand but by beginning with providing the ways to attain mutual interaction through the program that recognizes housing as merit goods to maintain the regional communities This research examines more minutely the problems caused by poor housing conditions of rural and fishing villages and attempts to present rural and fishing village type community living home as an alternative through regeneration. The results of this research are as follows. First, the administrative support system should be built to support the community living home in its beginning, process, completion, and even post management. Second, education for reinforcing capabilities to help understand the community living home should continually conducted on the occupants, villagers, and related organizations. Third, in order to expand the community living home, research and development should be made so that the zero-energy house, the alternative energy utilizing house, etc. can be widely used. In building community living home for vulnerable social groups in rural and fishing villages, practical alternatives suitable to the regional realities should be presented and practiced so that the community living home can be built to the satisfaction of all the villagers and the occupants, and the improvement measures should be presented through constant interest and monitoring.

  • The ratio of the deterioration housing in rural area was 29.6%, but it was 18.3% in urban area based on a 2018 survey. In consideration of the point, this study aims to analyze the actual condition of indoor air quality in rural houses to provide basic data for improving the indoor air environment. It was investigated 15housings of Hongseong-gun, Chungchengnam-do. To investigate the correlation between indoor air quality and housing type, both the field survey of housing type and precision diagnosis of concentration of indoor air pollutants such as HCHO, TVOC, Fine dust(PM-10, PM-2.5), CO2, Radon. The results of this study are as follows. First, according to the average value of each element of rural old housing, the construction year was distributed in 1939~2004, and 12households(80%) living in houses older than 30years have passed for about 46years. As for the housing area, more than 12houses(80%) of 60㎡ or more and 3 houses (20%) of less than 60㎡ were often living in relatively small-scale housing. Second, as a result of measuring indoor air pollutants in rural houses, substances exceeding the standard values were found in HCHO, TVOC, CO2. Third, in the case of Fine dust and Radon, none of such factors were exceeded the standard. Fourth, there was no significant difference in indoor air quality depending on housing type in rural houses. This paper is expected to contribute to the regional development projects and effective implementation of rural policies.

  • Thermal stress of livestock has been issued due to recent climate change trends and this causes reproductive disorders, decreased feed consumption, immunosuppression, and increased mortality of animals. Concept of THI has been widely used to quantitatively evaluate the degree of thermal stress for animals, however use of this concept is restricted for animals living in the enclosed facilities such as mechanically ventilated broiler houses. In this study, time-based internal energy flow and variation trends of temperature and humidity were analyzed based on BES technique. Local weather data, insulation characteristics of building materials, heat and moisture generation rate from broilers according to age, algorithm of ventilation operation were adopted for boundary condition of the model to accurately compute THI values inside the mechanically ventilated broiler house. From the BES computation, excess frequency of THI threshold in Jeju city was highest on the assumption that air conditioning equipments were not installed. When general raising density ($39kg\;m^{-2}$) was adopted, total 2,191 hours were exceeded. Excess hours of THI threshold were strongly related to the cumulative air temperature ($R^2=0.87$).

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the residential space composition and extension of Jeonja-jip and Dureong-jip in Samcheok region. The results of this study are as follows. It appears three residential plan types - Jeonja-jip with Anmaru(a room made of wooden floor), Jeonja-jip without Anmaru and Dureong-jip with Anmaru- in survey region. It was needed the extension of residential space at Jeonja-jip(a house type with two-row rooms which be composed of 田type under one roof) and Dureong-jip(a house type with inner floor which be surrounded by rooms under one roof) because of shortage of sleeping space, working space and keeping space owing to growing large family. The solutions of these shortages will be the extension of space in houses. Jeonja-jip's basic type which is the Kyup-Jip(a house type with two-row rooms under one roof) of 一 type with 6 Kans(Kan, a unit to count room to divided with four posts) is transformed and extended to 田shaped house with 11 Kans toward X-axis orientation. Dureong-Jip's basic type which is ㄱ type with 7 Kans is transformed and extended to the Sekyup-Jip with 9 Kans and the Nekyup-Jip(a house type with four-row rooms under one roof) with 12 Kans toward Y-axis orientation by insertion and addition. Jeonja-jip was developed into Kyup-Jip with front 4 or 5 Kans and side 2 Kans instead of being done into Sekyup-jip or Nekyup-Jip with insufficient day lighting and ventilation problems. Jeonja-jip and Dureong-jip were stronger than any other traditional houses in tendency to reserve Magu(cowshed) and Chikkan(toilet) in a house.

  • It can be seen that Traditional house of Jeong Si-yeong is located in a place where Saenggi(good energy), which is important in Pungsu(Feng Shui), can be gathered and that energy can be properly maintained. According to the theory of feng shui, a place that is not easily exposed by the surrounding mountains and is well protected by the strong wind was selected, and the main room was placed on the south side so that the sunlight was adequate while facing the north, so that you can live a comfortable life for a long time. Located on such a relatively well-hidden site, it is a location that can cope well with the invasion of Japanese invaders through the sea in the past, and even today, it is seen as a reasonable base that can be properly protected from strong sea winds in reality. On the other hand, if we look at the Hyungguk theory, it was a house built in the late Joseon Dynasty, and we could see the hidden hopes of the nobles at the time. The mountain behind the house is a haebok-type with a crab lying on the seashore, and what the crab symbolizes is the past national exam for official. Considering that the name of the place where the house is located is also Oyat(cucumber tree)-ri, where many cucumber trees closely related to the royal family of the Joseon Dynasty were planted, it seems that the family wished for prosperity by producing many Sadaebu(upper class gentry) in the past and forming a good relationship with the royal family.

  • One of main problems in developing electricity grid for archipelago country like Indonesia is the geographical concerns as it consists of many islands. In some rural areas, electricity has not been available yet due to the limited infrastructure access, leading to high investment cost. In this study, a portable energy storage system based on the lithium-ion batteries called Tabung Listrik or TaLis (DC-based power bank) and DC house system were proposed as the solution for providing electricity for rural areas with relatively lower cost. TaLis is designed to be portable so it is easy to carry around as well as it can be used for many purposes. Since 2017, TaLis prototype has been used as the energy storage in a DC house system at Sekolah Master Indonesia, where an array of PV rooftop is functioned as the main DC power supply. Besides, some TaLis were also dispatched for emergency response during the disaster situations in Indonesia, such as during the measles outbreak in Asmat-Papua, the earthquake disaster in Lombok and tsunami in Palu.
