Fuzzy neural network is an integrated model of artificial neural network and fuzzy system and it has been successfully applied in control and forecasting area. Recently ANFIS(Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System) has been noticed widely among various fuzzy neural network models because of its outstanding accuracy of control and forecasting area. We design a new classification model based on ANFIS and evaluate it in terms of classification accuracy. We identified ANFIS-based classification model has higher classification accuracy compared to existing classification model, C5.0 decision tree model by comparing their experimental results.

In this paper, we propose a novel pattern classification method based on statistical properties of the given data and fuzzy-rough set to minimize the coupling problem of the rules. In the proposed method, statistical properties is used by a selection criteria for deciding a partition number of antecedent fuzzy sets, and for minimizing an coupling problem of the generated rules. Moreover, rough set is used as a tool to remove unnecessary attributes between generated rules from the numerical data. In order to verify the validity of the proposed method, we compared the classification results (i.e, classification precision) of the proposed with the conventional pattern classification methods on the Fisher's IRIS data. From experiment results, we can conclude that the proposed method shows relatively better performance than those of the classification methods based on the conventional approaches.
As a part of ebXML(Electronic Business using eXtensible Markup Language) framework, BPSS(Business Process Specification Schema) has been provided to support the direct specification of the set of elements required to configure a runtime system in order to execute a set of ebXML business transactions. The BPS,' is available in two stand-alone representations, a UML version and an XML version. Due to the limitations of UML notations and XML syntax, however, current ebXML BPSS specification fails to specify formal semantic constraints completely. In this study, we propose a constraint classification scheme for the BPSS specification and describe how to formally represent those semantic constraints using OCL(Object Constraint Language). As a way to validate p Business Process Specification(BPS) with the formal semantic constraints, we suggest a rule-based approach to represent the formal constraints and demonstrate its detailed mechanism for applying the rule-based constraints to the BPS with a prototype implementation.
There are many control strategies for HEV in today. Expanding motor-driving and operating at good-efficient point in engine is the key of the HEV control to increase fuel economy. There are two types of HEV supervisory control. One is rule-based control and the other is optimization control. MAX-SOC control, thermostat control, baseline status control and state-machine control are in deterministic RBC. It is simple, but powerful and easy to apply in real-time circumstance. In this study, we analysis these four control strategies in RBC (Rule-based control) and identify the each advantage and disadvantage.

This paper presents a novel method for simultaneously and automatically choosing the nonlinear structures of regressors or discriminant functions, as well as the number of terms to include in a rule-based regression model or pattern classifier. Variables are first partitioned into subsets each of which has a linguistic term (called a causal condition) associated with it; fuzzy sets are used to model the terms. Candidate interconnections (causal combinations) of either a term or its complement are formed, where the connecting word is AND which is modeled using the minimum operation. The data establishes which of the candidate causal combinations survive. A novel theoretical result leads to an exponential speedup in establishing this.
This paper proposes a new classification system combining the adaptive feature weighting algorithm using the genetic algorithm and the modified KNN rule. GA is employed to choose the middle value of weights and weights of features for high performance of the system. The modified KNN rule is proposed to estimate the class of test pattern using adaptive feature space. Experiments with the unconstrained handwritten digit database of Concordia University in Canada are conducted to show the performance of the proposed method.

In this paper we develope a hybrid learning rule to improve the robustness of multi-layer Perceptions. In most neural networks the activation of a neuron is deternined by a nonlinear transformation of the weighted sum of inputs to the neurons. Investigating the behaviour of activations of hidden layer neurons a new learning algorithm is developed for improved robustness for multi-layer Perceptrons. Unlike other methods which reduce the network complexity by putting restrictions on synaptic weights our method based on error-backpropagation increases the complexity of the underlying proplem by imposing it saturation requirement on hidden layer neurons. We also found that the additional gradient-descent term for the requirement corresponds to the Hebbian rule and our algorithm incorporates the Hebbian learning rule into the error back-propagation rule. Computer simulation demonstrates fast learning convergence as well as improved robustness for classification and hetero-association of patterns.
Conventional filters using email header and body information equally judge whether an incoming email is spam or not. However this is unrealistic in everyday life because each person has different criteria to judge what is spam or not. To resolve this problem, we consider user preference information as well as email category information derived from the email content. In this paper, we have developed a personalized anti-spam system using ontologies constructed from rules derived in a data mining process. The reason why traditional content-based filters are not applicable to the proposed experimental situation is described. In also, several experiments constructing classifiers to decide email category and comparing classification rule learners are performed. Especially, an ID3 decision tree algorithm improved the overall accuracy around 17% compared to a conventional SVM text miner on the decision of email category. Some discussions about the axioms generated from the experimental dataset are given too.
In many decision making systems, rule-based approaches are used to solve complex problems in the areas of pattern analysis and computer vision. In this paper, we present methods for generating fuzzy IF-THEN rules automatically from training data for pattern classification and high-level computer vision. The rules are generated by construction minimal approximate fuzzy aggregation networks and then training the networks using gradient descent methods. The training data that represent features are treated as linguistic variables that appear in the antecedent clauses of the rules. Methods to generate the corresponding linguistic labels(values) and their membership functions are presented. In addition, an inference procedure is employed to deduce conclusions from information presented to our rule-base. Two experimental results involving synthetic and real are given.
A prototype selection method chooses a small set of training points from a whole set of class data. As the data size increases, the selected prototypes play a significant role in covering class regions and learning a discriminate rule. This paper discusses the methods for selecting prototypes in a classification framework. We formulate a prototype selection problem into a set covering optimization problem in which the sets are composed with distance metric and predefined classes. The formulation of our problem makes us draw attention only to prototypes per class, not considering the other class points. A training point becomes a prototype by checking the number of neighbors and whether it is preselected. In this setting, we propose a greedy algorithm which chooses the most relevant points for preserving the class dominant regions. The proposed method is simple to implement, does not have parameters to adapt, and achieves better or comparable results on both artificial and real-world problems.
