In languages such as Japanese, it is very common to observe that short peripheral vowel are completely voiceless when surrounded by voiceless consonants. This phenomenon has been known as Montreal French, Shanghai Chinese, Greek, and Korean. Traditionally this phenomenon has been described as a phonological rule that either categorically deletes the vowel or changes the [+voice] feature of the vowel to [-voice]. This analysis was supported by Sawashima (1971) and Hirose (1971)'s observation that there are two distinct EMG patterns for voiced and devoiced vowel in Japanese. Close examination of the phonetic evidence based on acoustic data, however, shows that these phonological characterizations are not tenable (Jun & Beckman 1993, 1994). In this paper, we examined the vowel devoicing phenomenon in Korean using data from ENG fiberscopic and acoustic recorders of 100 sentences produced by one Korean speaker. The results show that there is variability in the 'degree of devoicing' in both acoustic and EMG signals, and in the patterns of glottal closing and opening across different devoiced tokens. There seems to be no categorical difference between devoiced and voiced tokens, for either EMG activity events or glottal patterns. All of these observations support the notion that vowel devoicing in Korean can not be described as the result of the application of a phonological rule. Rather, devoicing seems to be a highly variable 'phonetic' process, a more or less subtle variation in the specification of such phonetic metrics as degree and timing of glottal opening, or of associated subglottal pressure or intra-oral airflow associated with concurrent tone and stricture specifications. Some of token-pair comparisons are amenable to an explanation in terms of gestural overlap and undershoot. However, the effect of gestural timing on vocal fold state seems to be a highly nonlinear function of the interaction among specifications for the relative timing of glottal adduction and abduction gestures, of the amplitudes of the overlapped gestures, of aerodynamic conditions created by concurrent oral tonal gestures, and so on. In summary, to understand devoicing, it will be necessary to examine its effect on phonetic representation of events in many parts of the vocal tracts, and at many stages of the speech chain between the motor intent and the acoustic signal that reaches the hearer's ear.

In this paper, we propose a Timed Fuzzy Petri Net(TFPN) model as a new model of real-time fuzzy control. The TFPN model, which is useful for fuzzy inference and fuzzy control is an integrated model of Timed PetriNet and Fuzzy Petri Net. Additionally, a Timed Fuzzy Control Language is defined as a textual specification model of fuzzy control rues, and proposed a TFPN modeling method. The TFPN model is a Petri Net formalism of fuzzy control systems. Execution rule is consisted of marking(i.e,fuzzyfication) and firing(i.e,inference and defuzzyfication) procedures. A simple case work by using TFPN model shows us computing time of inference and defuzzyfication is low and uncertainty and visibility of fuzzy control rule are modeled effectively.
In the collaborative product design environment, the communication between designers is important to capture design intents and to share a common view among the different but semantically similar terms. The Semantic Web supports integrated and uniform access to information sources and services as well as intelligent applications by the explicit representation of the semantics buried in ontology. Ontologies provide a source of shared and precisely defined terms that can be used to describe web resources and improve their accessibility to automated processes. Therefore, employing ontologies on assembly modeling makes assembly knowledge accurate and machine interpretable. In this paper, we propose a framework of semantic assembly modeling using ontologies to share design information. An assembly modeling ontology plays as a formal, explicit specification of a shared conceptualization of assembly design modeling. In this paper, implicit assembly constraints are explicitly represented using OWL (Web Ontology Language) and SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language). The assembly ontology also captures design rationale including joint intent and spatial relationships.

Recently, the number of tourists using cruise ships in Korea is increasing. and an big cruise ship with an gross tonnage of 160,000 tons or more has entered the domestic ports. Therefore, the government has been making a lot of efforts to confirm the cruise infrastructure for revitalization of the domestic cruise industry. However, there are no standards for cruise ship specifications and water facilities in the domestic port and fishery design standards. Currently, construction of dedicated cruise facilities is under way in major domestic ports. However, due to lack of specifications and domestic standards for cruise ships, it is difficult to design and license special facilities. Therefore, in this study, PIANC rule and domestic harbor and designing standard of fishing port were compared and analyzed in order to present the standard specification of cruise ships. And analyzed the representative linearity of cruises currently being operated. As a result of the ship characteristics analysis, There was a difference in coastal passenger ship in specifications and ship maneuverability. Therefore, in order to design facilities dedicated to cruising, the specifications of the target ship must be included in the domestic design standard. In addition, in order to calculate the scope of the target ship, I applied the coverage rate of 75% to the average specification value of the cruise ship and presented the standards of the cruise ship and the standard of the water area facilities.
The requirement of distributed multimedia applications is the need for sophisticated QoS(quality of service) management. In terms of distributed multimedia systems, the most important catagories for quality of service are a timeless, volume, and reliability. In this paper, we discuss a method for increasing reliability through fault tolerance. We describe the desist and implementation of the ERA running on distributed multimedia environment ERA is a system is able to recover automatically a software error based on distributed multimedia. In this paper, a web-based automatic transcription component is designed and implemented for mechanical conversion of revised Korean-to-Romanization notation rule. Specially. we proposes system architecture and algorithms that transcript Korean to Roman automatically after transliterate Korean to phonetic symbol applying phonological principles. The components operate under the web server's script mechanism. and the dictionary for exceptional usage is designed as an accessorial function supported either operating at web server internally or externally. The overall system architecture is presented by UML. specification and pseudo code. The proposed architecture can be implemented in encapsulated service by object oriented component and that can be easily adapted and modified on the internet environment and this system may have many advantages to improve efficiency, library reuse. extensibility at software development.
The quality of a part has directly effect on part reliability. In the basis of MIL-HDBK-217F model, it is the determined rule that part's quality level should follow its nominal one written in its specification. If quality information is unknown, quality level of the part should be determined as 'Lower'. However, the prediction model is said to be short in reflecting parts applying 'state-of-the-art' technology and result in over-estimated failure rate by some reliability-related authorities or research institutes. In this study, the reliability prediction results by the model of MIL-HDBK-217F and Telcordia SR-332 are compared and analyzed to verify whether the statement is reasonable or not.

Even though existing methods for orthophoto production in traditional photogrammetry are effective in large areas, they are inefficient when dealing with change detection of geometric features and image production for short time periods in small areas. In recent years, the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle), equipped with various sensors, is rapidly developing and has been implemented in various ways throughout the geospatial information field. The data and imagery of specific areas can be quickly acquired by UAVs at low costs and with frequent updates. Furthermore, the redundancy of geospatial information data can be minimized in the UAV-based orthophoto generation. In this paper, the orthophoto and DEM (Digital Elevation Model) are generated using a standard low-end UAV in small sloped areas which have a rather low accuracy compared to flat areas. The RMSE of the check points is σH = ±0.12 m on a horizontal plane and σV = ±0.09 m on a vertical plane. As a result, the maximum and mean RMSE are in accordance with the working rule agreement for the airborne laser scanning surveying of the NGII (National Geographic Information Institute) on a 1/500 scale digital map. Through this study, we verify the possibilities of the orthophoto generation in small slope areas using general-purpose low specification UAV rather than a high cost surveying UAV.
