로잉 에르고미터 훈련이 남자고등학생의 유산소능력과 근력에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Rowing Ergometer Training on the Aerobic Capacity and Strength of Male High School Students)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to assess the effect of rowing ergometer training on the aerobic capacity and strength of male high school students over a 12-week period. Methods: Fourteen high school students volunteered to participate in the study. The subjects were divided into two groups: seven subjects in the experimental group and seven in the control group. The subjects in the experimental group performed rowing ergometer training for 75 min per session at three days a week for 12 weeks. The exercise intensity set the maximum heart rate (HRmax) from 40% to 80%. Aerobic capacity was measured by ventilation, cardiac output, and oxygen intake per body weight. Strength was measured by grip strength and back strength before and after training. Results: A significantly increased ventilation (p=0.01), cardiac output (p=0.01), and oxygen intake per body weight (p=0.00) were found in the experimental group. A significantly increased grip strength in the right and left hands (p=0.00, 0.00) and back strength (p=0.04) were observed in the experimental group. Conclusion: Rowing ergometer training can be an effective combined exercise for aerobic capacity and strength of high school students.

엘리트 카약 선수들의 에르고미터를 이용한 로잉 동작 시 안장과 페달의 거리가 로잉 패턴 및 근 활성도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Saddle to Pedal Length in Kayak Ergometer on Rowing Motion and EMG Activation in Elite Kayak Players)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the saddle to pedal length contributing to successful performance in kayak using a kayak ergometer. Ten male elite kayak players participated in this study. players were tested on the kayak ergometer which was varied saddle to pedal length by the knee flexion angle(90deg; 120deg; 150deg) to measure stroke frequency, paddling amplitude, joint angle, RoM and angular velocity, foot pressure and force, iEMG using the 3D motion system, foot pressure system and EMG wireless system. At a results, rowing at 120deg on knee flexion angle showed higher stroke frequency and paddling amplitude than other knee flexion angles. RoM at upper extremity showed not significant difference between knee flexion angles. But there were significant differences in thorax and pelvis rotation RoM, knee flexion-extension RoM in each condition. In addition, foot pressure, force and iEMG were significantly different in knee flexion angles. Study showed that changed of saddle to pedal length affected rowing performance kinds of stroke frequency, paddling amplitude. The most important thing, increased range of motion in pelvic and thorax has occurred by force that generated foot-bar to seat. Not only that, but it seems to be attributed to a technical adaptation developed to maximum rowing performance.

조정 선수의 로잉 에르고미터 수행 후 저온침수 처치가 혈중 피로 물질, 활성산소 및 항산화 효소에 미치는 영향 (Effect of cold water immersion after rowing ergometer on blood fatigue substance, reactive oxygen species and anti-oxidation enzyme in rowing athletes)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 남자 대학 엘리트 조정선수의 2000 m 로잉 에르고미터 수행 후 저온침수 처치를 통해 혈중 젖산, LDH, MDA 및 SOD의 변화에 긍정적인 영향을 주어 피로 회복에 미치는 영향을 구명하는 데 있다. 이에 남자 대학 엘리트 조정선수 10명을 대상으로 고강도 로잉 에르고미터 2,000 m 수행 후 비 처치와 저온 침수 처치의 효과를 비교하였다. 측정 변인들에 대한 결과를 검증하기 위해 처치 및 시기 간 상호작용 효과를 분석하기 위해 ANOVA를 실시하였고 각 항목별 유의수준 .05로 설정하여 다음의 결과를 도출하였다. 젖산은 시기 간 주효과가 나타났고(p<.001) 그룹 내 시기별 차이가 났다(p<.001). 또한, LDH는 그룹 내 시기별 차이가 나타났다(p<.05). MDA는 그룹×시기 간 상호작용 효과가 나타났고(p<.05), 그룹 간(p<.05), 시기 간(p<.001) 주효과가 나타났다. SOD는 그룹 간, 시기 주효과가 나타났고(p<.05) 회복 30분 후 그룹 간 차이가 나타났다(p<.05). 이를 종합해 볼 때, 본 연구에서 실시한 저온침수 처치가 조정 선수의 혈중 피로 물질, 활성산소 및 항산화 효소에 유의한 효과를 나타냈다. 따라서 운동선수의 고강도 훈련 후 저온침수를 적극 활용할 것을 권장한다.

Kinematic analysis of rowing exercise using a motor-assisted rowing machine for rowers with spinal cord injury: a case report

  • Objective: We developed a Motor-Assisted Rowing Machine (MARM) for Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), by modification of the Concept II rowing machine, so that the seats could be operated automatically in a backward and forward direction by a motor. Design: Case report. Methods: Motor rowing consisted of a chair with inclination control, a motor system, control button, monitor, program, leg supporter, safety belt, and seat. The patients were 2 men rowing athletes with SCI, classified as American Spinal Injury Association class B, participated in the study. Level of thoracic injury ranged from T8 to T10. The subjects rowed at a self-selected stroke rate with 50 watts. Two different rowing methods (static rowing without movement of the seat, dynamic rowing using MARM) were assigned to each participant during 10 minutes; 34 reflective markers were attached to their full bodies. Kinematic data were collected using the Vicon motion analysis system. Based on the full body model provided as a default by the equipment. In the rowing exercise, the rowing motions were divided into Drive Phase and Recovery Phase. Results: The two rowing methods differ in handle range, seat range, handle and seat ratio, handle velocity, and seat velocity during static and dynamic rowing. The rowing exercise using a rowing machine developed MARM increased tendency to the range of motion in the dynamic method compared to the static method. Conclusions: The newly developed MARM could be a useful whole body exercise for people with SCI.

유산소운동능력의 차이가 로윙에르고미터 최대하 운동시 혈중 활성산소에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Aerobic Exercise Capacity on Free Oxygen Radical in Blood during Submaximal Exercise in Rowing Ergometer)

  • 본 연구는 유산소운동능력의 차이를 보이는 두 집단이 각각 로윙에르고미터 최대하 운동을 실시한 후 혈중 활성산소의 변화에 어떠한 차이를 나타내는지 구명하는데 목적이 있으며 연구대상으로는 조정 선수집단 6명과 비선수집단 6명을 대상으로 최대유산소운동능력을 검사한 후 각각의 목표심박수 85~90%를 적용하여 로윙에르고미터 운동을 실시하였고 운동 전, 직후, 10분, 20분, 차30분에 각각 채혈하여 활성산소의 변화를 분석하였다. 그 결과는 유산소운동능력의 차이에 따른 활성산소의 변화에서 집단과 시기 간 상호작용 효과는 유의한(p<.05) 차이를 나타내어 시기에 따른 변화의 양상이 집단 간 차이가 있었고 사후검증 결과 회복기 10분에서 20분 그리고 20분에서 30분 구간에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 결론적으로 인체에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 활성산소로부터 유산소운동능력이 우수한 조정선수집단이 비선수집단에 비해 긍정적인 회복 패턴을 보였다.

Comparison of Biomechanical Characteristics of Rowing Performance between Elite and Non-Elite Scull Rowers: A Pilot Study

  • Objective: This study aimed to examine the characteristics of joint kinematics and synchronicity of rowing motion between elite and non-elite rowers. Methods: Two elite and two non-elite rowers performed rowing strokes (3 trials, 20 strokes in each trial) at three different stroke rates (20, 30, 40 stroke/min) on two stationary rowing ergometers. The rowing motions of the rowers were captured using a 3-dimensional motion analysis system (8-infrared camera VICON system, Oxford, UK). The range of motion (RoM) of the knee, hip, and elbow joints on the sagittal plane, the lead time ($T_{Lead}$) and the drive time $T_{Drive}$) for each joint, and the elapsed time for the knee joint to maintain a fully extended position ($T_{Knee}$) during the stroke were analyzed and compared between elite and non-elite rowers. Synchronicity of the rowing motion within and between groups was examined using coefficients of variation (CV) of the $T_{Drive}$ for each joint. Results: Regardless of the stroke rate, the RoM of all joints were greater for the elite than for non-elite rowers, except for the RoMs of the knee joint at 30 stroke/min and the elbow joint at 40 stroke/min (p < .05). Although the $T_{Lead}$ at all stroke rates were the same between the groups, the $T_{Drive}$ for each joint was shorter for the elite than for the non-elite rowers. During the drive phase, elite rowers kept the fully extended knee joint angle longer than the non-elite rowers (p < .05). The CV values of the TDrive within each group were smaller for the elite compared with non-elite rowers, except for the CV values of the hip at all stroke/min and elbow at 40 stroke/min. Conclusion: The elite, compared with non-elite, rowers seem to be able to perform more powerful and efficient rowing strokes with large RoM and a short $T_{Drive}$ with the same $T_{Lead}$.

최대하 운동부하시 Caffeine의 투여가 운동선수의 혈중 Energy Substrate 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Caffeine Administration on Energy Substrate Change During Submaximal Exercise)

  • The purpose of this study was to describe the effects of caffeine ingestion on the metabolic responses during submaximal exercise. Ten male of rowing player aged 18-22yrs. participated in the study. No subjects had any remarkable medical history and none were taking medications. According to the administration of dehydrated caffeine(CA) (6mg/kg) or placebo(PA), they were classified into two groups such as caffeine group and placebo group. A randomized, double-blind, crossover protocol was employed using either CA or PA. Subjects underwent a submaximal bicycle ergometer. Blood was drawn intravenously prior to 60 min., at rest, at 30, and 45 min. of exercise, and recovery period. Plasma concentrations of glucose, free fatty acid and lactate were obtained using enzymatic method. Followings were obtained by the tests and analyses; 1) Blood glucose(BG) of 45 minute of exercise was significantly decreased in CA group of 76.3$\pm$14.8 mg/100ml compared with PA group of 94.9$\pm$11.2 mg/100mg(p<0.5). 2) Free fatty acid(FFA) of 30minute of exercise was significantly increased in CA group of 720$\pm$80 $\mu$Eq/1 compared with PA group of 360$\pm$120 $\mu$Eq/1(p<0.5). After exercise, FFA was significantly higher in CA group than those in PA group(p<0.1). 3) Blood lactate(BL) was not significantly different between the two. After exercise, BL was significantly different in 30 minute(p<05).

리보오스 보충이 최대강도 운동 후 혈중 피로물질 생성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of D-Ribose Supplementation on the Production of Blood Fatigue Factors after Maximal Intensity Exercise)

  • 본 연구에서는 두 가지 투여그룹을 비교하여 ergogenic aid로서 D-ribose의 효과를 운동영양학적으로 규명하는데 그 목적이 있었고, 이를 위하여 2,000 m 조정운동 전, 운동종료 직후, 그리고 운동 종료 후 회복기 30분의 변화를 연구하였으며, 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 투여그룹에 따른 2,000 m 조정운동 수행력의 차이는 없었으며 둘째, 투여그룹에 따른 젖산과 암모니아 수치의 차이도 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 회복 30분에서 무기인산은 PS에 비해서 RS투여그룹의 수치가 더 낮게 나타났으며, 마지막으로 회복 30분에서 hypoxanthine의 축적은 PS투여그룹에 비해 RS투여그룹의 수치가 더 낮게 나타났다. 따라서, 7-8분 정도의 고강도 운동 시 운동기록의 단축에 D-ribose 구강투여의 효과는 없었지만, 휴식 기 피로회복에 긍정적인 효과를 줄 수 있을 것이라 사료된다.
