Low Speed Thrust Characteristics of a Modified Sonic Arc Airfoil Rotor through Spin Test Measurement

  • The low speed aerodynamic characteristics for a modified sonic arc airfoil which is designed by using the nose shape function of sonic arc, the shape function of NACA four-digit wing sections, and Maple are experimentally investigated. The small rotor blades of a modified sonic arc and NACA0012 airfoil are precisely fabricated with a commercially available light aluminum(Al 6061-T6) and are spin tested over a low speed range (3000rpm-5000rpm). In a consuming power comparison, the consuming powers of NACA0012 are higher than that of modified sonic arcs at each pitch angle. The measured rotor thrust for each pitch angle is used to estimate the rotor thrust coefficient according to momentum theory in the hover state. The value of thrust coefficients for both two airfoils at each pitch angle show almost constant values over the low Mach number range. However, the rotor thrust coefficient of NACA0012 is higher than that of the modified sonic arc at each pitch angle. In conclusion, the aerodynamic performance of NACA0012 is better than that of modified sonic arcs in the low speed regime. This test model will provide a convenient platform for improving the aerodynamic performance of small scale airfoils and for performing design optimization studies.

  • In a transmission or geared rotor system a coupled phenomenon of lateral and torsional vibrations may occur due to the gear meshing effect. Particularly, in high speed or low vibration and low noise applications of geared rotor systems a coupled rotordynamic analysis is required to precisely predict their dynamic characteristics. In this paper a generalized finite element model of a gear pair element is developed, which actively couples the lateral and torsional vibrations due to the gear meshing effect. In the modeling the generalized forces due to the transmission error. geometrical eccentricities. and unbalances in the gear system are also considered. Then. using the developed gear pair element model a coupled unforced rotordynamic analysis is performed with a prototype 800 RT turbo-chiller rotor-bearing system having a hull-pinion speed increasing gear. Results show that the torsional vibration characteristics experience some changes due to the gear meshing and lateral dynamic coupling effect, but that they have no adverse effect and the lateral ones have no practical changes in an operating speed range.

  • 자동회전 상태로 속도 증가 시 로터 속도의 변화와 피치 범위를 조사하기 위하여 수치 해석을 수행하였다. 정상 자동회전 상태를 구하기 위하여 과도모사법(Transient Simulation Method:TSM)을 사용하였다. 풍속의 증가에 대응하기 위하여 로터 블레이드를 2차원 압축성 Navier-Stokes 솔버로 해석하여 공력계수를 계산하였고 이를 과도모사법에 사용하였으며 유도 속도장 변화를 모사하기 위하여 Pitt/Peters 유도속도 이론을 적용하였다. 설정된 토크 평형 조건에서 풍속, 샤프트각, 피치각의 조합을 출력하여 로터의 회전속도와 변수의 범위를 조사하였다. 깃 끝 마하수의 변화에 따른 로터 회전속도의 변화를 살펴보았고 샤프트각의 감소에 따른 피치각의 트림 범위를 고찰하였다.

  • According to the rapid growth of high speed and precise industry, the application of synchronous motor has been increased. In the application fields, the large synchronous motor is not a self-starting motor. The rotor is heavy and, from a dead stop, it is impossible to bring the rotor into magnetic lock with the rotating magnetic field for this reason, all synchronous motor have some kinds of starting device. A simple starter is another motor which brings the rotor up to approximately 96 percent of it synchronous speed. The starting motor is disconnected and the rotor locks in step with the rotating field. The more commony used starting method is to have the rotor to include a squirrel cage indution winding. This indution winding brings the rotor almost to synchronous speed as an induction motor. So, this paper describes excessive condition interpretation of a exciter circuit to prevent starting failure of large synchronous motor. the large synchronous motor needs safety of it in accordance with operating frequent start and stop. the operating Problem point of synchronous motor appears potential element damage of Exciter circuit because synchronous motor is caused synchronous separation. hence we eliminate it and improve starting toque.

  • Wide operating range and speed control is needed for wind power generating and a Doubly Fed Induction Generator(DFIG) has good adaptivity for that purpose. This paper deals with power and power factor control using the Grid connected DFIG in the wide speed regions, by controlling frequency and voltage fed to the rotor. Power flow of the DFIG and steady-state algebraic equations of the equivalent circuit are analyzed. For a normal operating region, in which the generator ratings were not exceeded, the rotor current was either less than or equal to the rated value. Accordingly, the optimal power factor can be selected relative to the permissible rated current at the rotor coil which controls the magnitude of the injected rotor voltage to the rotor according to a given rotor frequency.

속도 추정 알고리즘을 이용한 유도전동기 제어 시스템 특성 (A Characteristics of Control System for Induction Motor using a Speed Estimation Algorithm)

  • 유도전동기의 속도 제어를 원활하게 수행하기 위해서는 필요한 회전자 속도 정보를 얻어야 한다. 속도 정보를 얻으려면 센서를 사용하여 얻어야 하지만, 센서를 사용하지 않고 적절한 알고리즘을 이용하여 얻을 수도 있다. 속도 정보를 얻기 위해서 모델 기준 적응 시스템(MARS; model reference adaptive system)을 사용하여 시스템을 설계 하였고, 유도전동기의 속도 제어 방식 중에 하나인 간접 벡터 제어 방식으로 전동기의 전류와 회전자 파라미터 값으로부터 연산된 슬립 주파수를 회전자 속도와 합하여 자속의 위치 정보를 얻어내는 방식을 사용하였다. 실제 자속 정보 없이도 넓은 속도 영역에서 간단하게 순시 전류 제어를 행할 수 있으며 제어기의 구조가 간단하다는 장점을 가질 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 간접 벡터 제어 방식을 기반으로 제어 시스템을 구성하였고, 이를 실현하기 위해 필요한 회전자 속도 정보를 센서로 사용하지 않고 개발한 지능형 알고리즘으로 추정하여 유도전동기의 속도 제어 시스템을 개발하였다.

  • Recently the interest in permanent magnet alternating motor using for electric compressor become great. Especially the research on Interior Permanent Magnet Motor has been doing actively for its advantages in the energy density and the efficiency. In order to control the output of motor to the desired value, the current control or speed control of motor are required. The accurate detection of rotor position and speed information are necessary for the control of motor. In general, the encoder, hall sensor, and resolver are used to obtain the information of motor position and speed and the speed detection algorithm, M/T method, is applied. However, the M/T method causes the error depending on rotor speed. Therefore, this M/T speed detection method is not perfect. In this paper, it is proposed that the PI control with a 1st transfer function and the integration element between velocity and position are composed in series and this feeds back to the reference value of position angle. The proposed algorithm is a function of the integral elements 2nd term, speed element, is used as an output. Thus, it is possible to detect the correct speed by configuring like the mechanical structure similarly. The proposed algorithm is verified by using PSIM DLL and is applied to the BLAC motor drive. And also it is confirmed that this system estimates the accurate speed regardless of rotor speed changes. As a example, the experimental results and simulations shows that the proposed method is very effective.

회전체의 비틀림 고유진동 해석 (Analysis of Torsional Natural Viibration Characteristics of Rotors)

  • A method to estimate the torsional critical speed for practical rotors has been developed in this study. First, the rotor with a uniform shaft segment is modeled for undamped torsional motion analysis, while satisfying all the boundary conditions. This eventually generates governing equations for the torsional critical speeds of the system. The set of governing equations has the form of a sparse and banded matrix. The elements of banded matrix can be arranged in partitions, which correspond to the specific boundary of the rotor. This permits an automatic generation of the system matrix using a computer. In order to calculate the determinant generated by the simultaneous equations, which leads to the torsional critical speed, a recurring numerical algorithm for a (3*4) sub-matrix has been used. This numerical algorithm practically examines successive (3*4) sub-matrix, one at a time, instead of treating a huge matrix. The output of the program provides the mode shapes with continuous curves. The method has been implemented to three rotors given as examples : a simple rotor, Prohl's rotor, and Macmillan rotor.

Tilt Rotor-Wing Concept for Multi-Purpose VTOL UAV

  • Tilt rotor-wing concept to show enhanced performance in low speed mission is presented. Three types of stud wings on the existing tilt rotor configuration are suggested and their characteristics are compared. Aerodynamic analysis indicates that the stud wing concept gives significant performance improvement on the endurance and range in the low speed regime when compared with the tilt rotor. Penalties of the stud wing are discussed from the perspectives of conversion corridor, structural weight, configuration design, and cross wind stability. This study concludes that the advantage of the stud wing in general UAV mission performance is so significant as to surpass the penalties in other perspectives investigated.

새로운 회전자검출 방법에 의한 8/6 스위치드 리럭턴스 모터 속도 제어 (Speed Control of 8/6 Switched Reluctance Motor Using New Rotor Position Detection Techniques)

  • This paper proposed new techniques of rotor position detection for 8/6 pole Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM). This technique is very simple and easy to find out rotor position. The main idea uses the impulse responses which have different values between aligned and unaligned rotor position. In order to obtain the informations of the rotor position, the impulse applied to the unenergized phases and their responses are analyzed to control the speed of SRM without shaft sensor. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
