  • A flexible rotor was smoothly passed through its bending critical speed, which is supported by AFB. Then, maximum magnitude of the rotor vibration at the middle point was 25${\mu}$m. The test rig was largely consisted of air turbine, multi-leaf type air foil bearing and flexible rotor and its bending critical speed was 32,600 rpm. And the balancing system and method for field balancing of the flexible rotor were developd successfully.

  • This paper focuses on the effect of structural coupling in the behavior of composite rotor blade. We have searched for bending, extension and shear coupling term with the ply angle of rotor blade and the dynamic behavior of rotor blade for each coupling term. It was found that natural frequency increases as the rotating speed of rotor blade increases. In the couplings with feathering, bending coupling is main parameter, because bending coupling term is larger than shear . Also, the couplings with feathering is less effective in 0$^{\circ}$, 90$^{\circ}$, of ply angle and more variable at blade tip.

  • Dynamic behavior of an automatic dynamic balancer is analyzed by a theoretical approach. Using Lagrange's equation, we derive the non-linear equations of motion for an automatic dynamic balancer equipped in a rotor with the bending flexibility with respect to the rectangular coordinate. Considering the rotor bending flexibility we analyze out-of-plane vibrations as well as in-plane vibrations of the automatic dynamic balaner. The time responses are computed from the non-linear equations by using a time integration method. We also investigate the effect of rotor flexibility on the behavior of the automatic dynamic balancer

  • BO-105 helicopter applies hingeless rotor hub system and blade root uses a flexure of hingeless rotor hub system. So bending stiffness reinforcement for flexure was conducted for preparation of whirl tower test using BO-105 blade. Bending moment of flexure area was calculated with FE modeling of section shape for stiffness reinforcement of flexure and thickness of composite material for reinforcement was chosen. Flexure bending stiffness reinforcement was conducted and bending stiffness measurement test was performed before and after bending stiffness reinforcement. And the test data are compared with analysis results.

  • The turbine rotor, one of the main facilities in a power plant, it generates electricity while rotating at 3600 RPM. Because it rotates at high speed, it requires careful management because high vibration occurs even if it is deformed by only 0.1mm. However, bending occurs due to various causes during turbine operating. If turbine rotor bending occurs, the power plant must be stopped and repaired. In the past, straightening was carried out using a heating torch and furnace in the field. In case of straightening in this way, it is impossible to proceed systematically, so damage to the turbine rotor may occur and take long period for maintenance. Long maintenance period causes excessive cost, so it is necessary to straighten the rotor by minimizing damage to the rotor in a short period of time. To solve this problem, we developed a turbine rotor straightening equipment using high-frequency induction heating equipment. A straightening was validated for 500MW HIP rotor, and the optimal parameters for straightening were selected. In addition, based on the experimental results, finite element analysis was performed to build a database. Using the database, a straightening amount prediction model available for rotor straightening was developed. Using the developed straightening equipment and straightening prediction model, it is possible to straightening the rotor with minimized damage to the rotor in a short period of time.

  • Harmonic vibration characteristics for the general rotor model having a breathing crack are analyzed. Analyses are performed at the half critical speed ranges. The vibration characteristics are explained by using the additional slope and bending moment at the crack position and the influence coefficient showing the structural dynamic characteristics of the rotor. With the low crack depth the magnitude of the additional slope is kept constant even at the speed range at which the orbit magnitude is very sensitive to the rotational speed change. At this speed range the vibration is affected by the influence coefficient only. As the dynamic bending moment exceeds the static bending moment with the increase of crack depth. the additional slope affects the vibration amplitude of cracked rotor and the crack propagation rate increases.

  • As the capacity of renewable power generation facilities rapidly increases, the variability of electric power system and gas turbine power generation is also increasing. Therefore, problems may occur that require urgent repair while the gas turbine rotor is stopped. When the gas turbine rotor turning is stopped and then restarted, if the turning period is not appropriate, severe vibration may occur due to rotor bending. As a result of the experiment, it was confirmed that normal operation is possible when the gap data measured at the start of rotor turning after maintenance work is similar to the existing value. And the vibration value at the start of rotor turning was lower as the rotor temperature was lower or the stop period was shorter.

  • Dynamic behaviors of an automatic dynamic balancer are analyzed by a theoretical approach. Using the polar coordinates, the non-linear equations of motion for an automatic dynamic balancer equipped in a rotor with the bending flexibility are derived from Lagrange equation. Based on the non-linear equation, the stability analysis is performed by using the perturbation method. The stability results are verified by computing dynamic response. The time responses are computed from the non-linear equations by using a time integration method. We also investigate the effect of the bending flexibility on the dynamics of the automatic dynamic balancer.

  • The dynamic response due to the unbalance and crack and the quasi-static response due to gravity are analytically derived based on the complex transfer matrix. The additional slope is expressed as function of the bending moment at crack position based on the fracture mechanics concept, and inversely the bending moment is expressed as function of the additional slope at the crack position. At each angle step during the shaft revolution, the additional slope and bending moment are calculated by an iterative method. The transient behavior is considered by introducing Fourier series expansion concept for the additional slope. Simulation is carried out for a simple rotor similar to those available in the literature and comparison of the basic crack behavior is shown. Using the additional slope, the cracked rotor behavior is explained with the crack depth increased: the magnitude of the additional slope increases and the closed crack duration during a revolution decreases as the crack depth increases. The direction of unbalance is also shown as a factor to affect the crack breathing. Whirl orbits are shown near the sub-critical speed ranges of the rotor.
