  • This paper introduces the controller development of booster multi-pump system with constantly estimated control algorithm. Through analyzing by the experiment of optimal pressure with a certain flow rate. The larger pressure processing apparatus in microprocessor makes optimal water-supplying. This method is implemented with the only pure control algorithm without any other mechanical or circuitry apparatus. Also, Pump's life is lengthened by exchanging simple on, off and rotational inverter control. Optimal condition for pump is adjusted by the inverter control, and compact control panel helps the booster system install in real field.

  • Aggregability of red blood cells (RBCs) was determined by a laser backscattering light analysis in a microfluidic channel. Available techniques for RBC aggregation often adopt a rotational Couette-flow using bob-and-cup system for disaggregating RBCs, which causes the system to be complex and expensive. A disposable microfluidic channel and vibration generating mechanism were used in the proposed new detection system for RBC aggregation. Prior to measurement, RBC aggregates in a blood sample were completely disaggregated by applying vibration-induced shear. With the present apparatus, the aggregation indexes of RBCs can be easily measured with small quantities of blood sample. The measurements with the present aggregometer were compared with those of LORCA and showed a strong correlation between them. The aggregability of the defibrinogenated blood RBCs is markedly lower than that of the normal RBCs. The noble feature of this design is the vibration-induced disaggregation mechanism, which enables to incorporate disposable element that holds the blood sample.

A Study on the Compression Process of Balanced Type Vane Pump for Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS용 압력 평형형 베인 펌프의 압축 과정에 관한 연구)

  • This paper reports on theoretical study of the compression process within balanced type vane pump for Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering(EHPS). Equations fo camring profiles are derived, then displacements, velocities, accelerations, and jerks are calculated. Vane side leakages, vane slit leakages, and rotor side leakages are considered and calculated. Numerical integration of flow equation is performed using 4th Runge-Kutta method. As a result of analysis, it is found that chamber pressure depends on rotational speeds, bulk modulus of fluid, notches, camring profiles, and positions of delivery port. Especially, the variation of notch area is the most important factor that prevents pressure from rapid rising.

  • Performance analysis of a solid oxide fuel cell/micro gas turbine hybrid system is conducted at design-point and part-load conditions and its results are discussed in this study. With detailed considerations of the heat and mass transfer phenomena along various flow streams of the SOFC, the analysis based on a quasi-2D model reasonably predicts its performance at the design-point operating conditions. In case of part-load operations, performance of the hybrid system to three different operation modes(fuel only control, speed control, and VIGV control) is compared. It is found that the simultaneous control of both supplied fuel and air to the system with a variable MGT rotational speed mode is the optimum choice for the high performance operation. And then, the dynamic characteristics of a solid oxide fuel cell are briefly introduced.

Stability of Inclined Premixed Planar Flames (기울어진 예혼합 평면화염의 안정성)

  • Stability of laminar premixed planar flames inclined in the gravitational field is asymptotically examined. The flame structure is resolved by a large activation energy asymptotics and a long wave approximation. The coupling between hydrodynamics and diffusion processes is included and near-unity Lewis number is assumed. The results show that as the flame is more inclined from the horizontal plane it becomes more unstable due to not only the decrease of stabilizing effect of gravity but also the increase of destabilizing effect of rotational flow. The obtained dispersion relation involves the Prandtl number and shows the destabilizing effect of viscosity. The analysis predicts that the phase velocity of unstable flame wave depends on not only the flame angle but also the Lewis number. For relatively short wave disturbances, still much larger than flame thickness, the most unstable wavelength is nearly independent on the flame angle and the flame can be stabilized by gravity and diffusion mechanism.

  • The initial unfolding motion simulation of a sub-munition with drag ribbon for precision guidance and reliable operation has been investigated by analyzing its unsteady aerodynamic load and fluid structure interaction. The effects of change in the ribbon configuration and flow angle are numerically studied using a commercial software "XFLOW" based on Lattice-Boltzmann Method. It is shown that the motion is affect adversely by the separation bubble formed posterior part of the fuselage. The rolling moment for arming of the sub-munition is increased with angle of attack and rotational movement.

  • The turbofan engine performance analysis for a medium scale commercial aircraft was carried out and the LQR control scheme for performance optimization was studied. By using scaled component maps from well-known CF6 engine characteristics, the steady-state performance analysis result was compared with BR715-56 engine performance data. The transient performance analysis was performed with four fuel schedules. The linear simulation was done at the maximum take-off condition. The real time linear simulation was performed by interpolation of the system matrices, which used the least square method as the function of LPC rotational speed. By using linear system matrices of design point, the LQR controller which used control variables for the fuel flow and the LPC bleed air was designed.

Temperature Control for an Oil Cooler System Using PID Control with Fuzzy Logic (퍼지 적용 PID제어를 이용한 오일쿨러 시스템의 온도제어)

  • Recently, technical trend in machine tools is focused on enhancing of speed, accuracy and reliability. The high speed usually results in thermal displacement and structural deformation. To minimize the thermal effect, precision machine tools adopt a high precision cooling system. This study proposes a temperature control for an oil cooler system using Pill control with fuzzy logic. In the cooler system, refrigerant flow rate is controlled by rotational speed of a compressor, and outlet oil temperature is selected as the control variable. The fuzzy control rules iteratively correct PID parameters to minimize the error and difference between the outlet temperature and the reference temperature. Here, ambient temperature is used as the reference one. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, a series of experiments are conducted for an oil cooler system of machine tools, and the results are compared with the ones of a conventional Pill control. The experimental results show that the proposed method has advantages of faster response and smaller overshoot.

A Study on the Pressure Rising Considered Fluid Inertia in the Notch Area of Balanced Type Vane Pump (노치 영역에서 유체 관성을 고려한 압력 평형형 베인 펌프의 압력 상승에 관한 연구)

  • This paper reports on theoretical study of the pressure overshoot in the delivery ports and pressure rising within balanced type vane pump. Pressure overshoot occur due to the accelerated fluid through the notch, so, result in pressure ripple, flow ripple, and noise. For calculating the pressure rising and fluctuations of pressure, we have modeled mathematically used continuity equation based on compressibility and momentum equation considered fluid inertia in the notch, and analyzed simultaneously. As a results of analysis, we have found oscillation of pressure and compression chamber pressure depend on the rotational speeds, bulk modulus of working fluid, notches, number of vane and camring. Using the model, notches have been shown to be important design factor in relaxing the rapid pressure rising and reducing the amplitudes of pressure overshoot.

A Comparison of Numerical Methods for the Advection Equation for Air Pollution Models (대기오염모델에서의 이류방정식에 대한 수치적 방법의 비교)

  • Numerical solutions to the advection equations used for long-range transport air pollution models are calculated using three numerical methods; Antidiffusion correction method(Smolarkiewicz, 1983), Positive definite advecton scheme obtained by nonlinear renormalization of the advective fluxes(Bott, 1989), and Positive definite pseudospectral method(Bartnicki, 1989). Accuracy, numerical diffusion and computational time requirement are compared for two-dimensional transport calculations in a uniform rotational flow field. The solutions from three methods are positive definite. Bartnicki(1989)'s method is most conservative but requires approximately 10 times as much computational time as Smolarkiewicz(1983)'s method of which numerical diffusion is the largest. All three methods are more conservative for a cone shape initial condition than for a rectangular block initial condition with a steep gradient.
