1차원 기체-고체 반응기 모델의 로터리킬른 환원로 적용 (Simplified 1-Dimensional Model of Gas-Solid Reactor : Adapting to Coal Reduction Rotary Kiln)

  • Rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used reactors in industrial field. In this paper, 0-dimensional heat and mass balance for direct coal flame rotary kiln was performed preferentially, then a simplified 1-dimensional model was developed based on 0-dimensional analysis data to proceed additional thermal analysis. Compared the results with the currently operating rotary kiln data to validate 1-dimensional model. Through this procedure, it can help to derive fundamental idea for design and operation of rotary kiln.

  • A rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used gas-solid reactors in the industrial field. Although the rotary kiln is a versatile system and has different size, approach to the reactor modeling can be generalized in terms of flow motion of the solid and gas phases, heat transfer, and chemical reactions on purpose. In this paper, starting from a zero-dimensional model and extending to higher dimension and comprehensive models, overall procedure of the design development of rotary kiln reactors and considerations are presented. The approaches to performance analysis of the reactors are introduced and examples of application cases are presented.

  • Drying, which is the oldest and most energy-intensive process, is an essential process for treatment of solid product. The specific procedure to design and evaluate the dryers, which are a rotary kiln dryer and a flash dryer, in case of drying the high-moisture coal was described. From determination of size to the heat and mass balance in one-dimensional model were conducted to evaluate the performance of dryers. Heat consumption, inlet gas temperature and size of the dryers were compared between a rotary kiln dryer and a flash dryer. Further considerations to evaluate the reactor elaborately were also discussed. Performance simulation of dryers along with the design procedure described here will provide helpful basis for understanding the concept of reactor design.

  • This paper presents a design of the fuzzy decision maker which infers set value for fuel rate in the rotary kiln of making CaO. The fuzzy decision maker proposed are divided into two groups whose functions are different each other. The one operates when production demand is constant. The other deals with the status of varying production demand. We have chosen several variables used for composing condition and action part by investigating ingerent features of the rotary kiln and skilled operators`manual method of inferring fuel rate. Membership function of each variable was designed by analyzing experimental data and field data collected during two months. On-line operation with fuzzy rules suggested was done safely like human operators' action.

로타리킬른 소성 골재 물성예측을 위한 전기로 실험 (Experiments of electric furnace simulator for property prediction of the artificial lightweight aggregate sintered by rotary kiln)

  • 소형 전기로 및 이동장치가 있는 시뮬레이터를 사용하여 로타리킬른에서 생산되는 인공경량골재의 물성을 예측 할 수 있다면 대규모 로타리 킬른을 사용하여 인공경량골재 시제품 생산할 때 필요한 물자와 시간을 대폭 절감할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 생산될 인공경량 골재의 물성을 정확히 예측할 수 있는 시뮬레이터를 제작하여 실제 로타리 킬른에서 생산된 골재의 물성과 비교함으로써 그 유용성을 검토하고자 하였다. 골재의 물성을 예측하기 위해서 8 mm 크기의 에코 인공경량 골재를 사용하였고 시뮬레이터의 분위기를 탄소를 이용해 조절하였다. 시뮬레이터와 로타리킬른에서 소성된 골재의 비중, 흡수율, 골재의 단면의 면적을 측정하고 비교하였다. 산화 분위기와 달리 환원분위기에서 소성된 시편은 탄소량이 증가할수록 비중이 증가하였으며 흡수율은 탄소 첨가량이 증가할수록 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 소성분위기는 환원 분위기 조성을 위해 탄소분말 0.7g을 첨가하였을 때 로라리 킬른과 가장 흡사한 분위기가 형성되는 것으로 판단되며, 두 골재의 물성 역시 비슷하였다.

다양한 종류의 연소로 내 고체 연료의 연소 특성 고찰 (Investigation of Solid Fuel Combustion Characteristics in Various Types of Combustors)

  • This study is aimed to characterize the combustion behavior of solid fuel in the various types of the combustors: stoker, rotary kiln and fluidized bed type combustors. Three different types of reduced-scale combustors are introduced, and temperatures and flue gas compositions are measured for various fuel sizes, water contents, initial temperature, and air flow rates. In case of the rotary kiln combustor, effects of rotating speed of the combustor are also investigated. Mean carbon conversion time (MCCT) and flame propagation rate (FPR) are used for the quantitative analysis. It is revealed that the reaction rates of the fuel are significantly influenced by the fuel characteristics, type of the combustors and air flow rate. Major design parameters for each type of the combustors are summarized through the reduced-scaled model analysis.

  • Rotary kiln reactors are frequently equipped with an axial burner with which solid burden material is directly heated. Lifters are commonly used along the length of the system to lift particulate solids and increase the heat transfer between the solid bed and the combustion gas. The material cascading from the lifters undergoes drying and reacting through direct contact with the gas stream. In this study, volume distribution of materials held within lifters was modeled according to the different lifter configuration and appropriate configuration was used for the design purpose. This was applied to the one-dimensional heat balance model of a counter-current flow reactor, which contributes to the increase of the effective contact surface, and thereby enhances the heat transfer.

  • 하수슬러지의 처리문제가 대두되어지면서 많은 연구자들에 의해 슬러지 처리 기술이 연구되어지고 있다. 대표적으로 소각, 탄화, 열분해, 매립, 비료화 등의 방법이 있지만 이러한 모든 공정에는 80% 이상의 높은 함수율의 하수슬러지를 원재료로 사용하기에 어려움이 있어 건조공정이 요구되어진다. 본 연구는 선행 연구인 수치해석적 연구로 설계된 로타리 킬른형 건조로를 이용하여 운전변수로 킬른 체류시간, 건조로 부하, 건조로 온도를 각각 변화시켜 최적의 운전조건과 기술을 확립하는데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 변수별 연구에 의한 결과로 킬른 체류시간, 건조로 부하, 건조로 온도는 각각 $62.5kg/m^3{\cdot}hr$, 26.2 min, $330^{\circ}C$로 결정되었다. 이때 함수율 $10{\pm}2%$, 건조효율 88%, 무게감량 80%, 부피감량 60% 정도로 나타났고, 슬러지의 입경은 10 mm 이하로 배출되었다.

  • This paper presents the numerical analysis of process of sludge drying to know the characteristics of design parameters and develop the new process plant. Finite volume method and $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model were used to analogy the sludge drying furnace. It has been attempted to perform the disposal of sewage sludge such as simple reclaiming and dumping in sea and incineration. Currently, these methods are restricted by national or international government regulations. The drying process is adopted as an effective method for sewage sludge treatment. However sewage sludge makes it difficult to treat with a large volume at the real drying process plant because of its own complicated physical, chemical, and thermal properties. The final design value of moisture content with 10% of the dried sludge can be obtained through the simulated outputs in this study.
