  • Rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used reactors in industrial field. In this paper, 0-dimensional heat and mass balance for direct coal flame rotary kiln was performed preferentially, then a simplified 1-dimensional model was developed based on 0-dimensional analysis data to proceed additional thermal analysis. Compared the results with the currently operating rotary kiln data to validate 1-dimensional model. Through this procedure, it can help to derive fundamental idea for design and operation of rotary kiln.

  • The rotary kiln is one of the most widely used industrial reactors for contacting gases and solids. Kilns are mainly used for drying, calcining and reducing solid materials. In an indirected fired rotary kiln, heat is supplied to the outside of the kiln wall. Heat transfer in indirected fired rotary kilns encompasses all the modes of transport mechanisms, that is, conduction, convection and radiation. This paper deal with the heat transfer characteristics of indirect fired rotary kiln for scale up.

  • Rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used gas-solid reactors in the industrial field. Although the rotary kiln is a versatile system and has different size, approach to the reactor modeling can be generalized in terms of flow motion of the solid and gas phase, heat transfer and chemical reactions on purpose. In this paper, a performance analysis example case of axial direction direct flame rotary kiln is introduced.

  • 본 연구에서는 Rotary kiln(RK)을 이용하여 바나듐 염배소 전처리시 적정온도를 유지하기 위한 열화학적 모델링 관련 인자에 대해 논의하였다. 관련 모델 메카니즘은 열화학 관련 반응속도모델, 열수지 및 열전달 등이며 이를 통해 rotary kiln내 온도분포를 직관적으로 추정할 수 있다. 이러한 작업을 통해 최적 염배소 온도인 1000 ℃(또는 약 1273 K) 근방을 kiln내에서 장기간 유지하는 것이 관건이다. 본 연구에서는 탄화수소(천연가스) 연료연소 및 광석 산화반응으로부터의 발열과 광석으로의 복사열전달 등을 산정하였다. 또한 열화학 측면에서 Rotary kiln내 적정 배소온도구역에서의 온도구배 완화를 위한 방안을 제시하였다.

  • A rotary kiln furnace is one of the most widely used gas-solid reactors in the industrial field. Although the rotary kiln is a versatile system and has different size, approach to the reactor modeling can be generalized in terms of flow motion of the solid and gas phases, heat transfer, and chemical reactions on purpose. In this paper, starting from a zero-dimensional model and extending to higher dimension and comprehensive models, overall procedure of the design development of rotary kiln reactors and considerations are presented. The approaches to performance analysis of the reactors are introduced and examples of application cases are presented.

  • Rotary kiln in cement work has been evaluated for a wide variety of organic wastes such as wood, used tyres, plastic wastes and automobile shredder residue (ASR). However the presence of chlorine hampers the use of ASR as fuel in rotary kiln. Therefore, the behavior characteristics of chlorine components in rotary kiln should be considered to develop an effective method for ASR treatment to recovery energy resources. The aim of this paper is to present the chlorine control system applied to a cement manufacturing process for ASR use as an alternative fuel. In this work, the simulation of bypass unit and cyclones for chlorine control in rotary kiln has been studied and compared with the operation results of field test.

  • This paper presents a design of the fuzzy decision maker which infers set value for fuel rate in the rotary kiln of making CaO. The fuzzy decision maker proposed are divided into two groups whose functions are different each other. The one operates when production demand is constant. The other deals with the status of varying production demand. We have chosen several variables used for composing condition and action part by investigating ingerent features of the rotary kiln and skilled operators`manual method of inferring fuel rate. Membership function of each variable was designed by analyzing experimental data and field data collected during two months. On-line operation with fuzzy rules suggested was done safely like human operators' action.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 한국동력자원연구소에서 개발한 로타리 킬른형의 도시 쓰 레기 소각로에 대하여 전열해석한 것으로 이 해석을 통하여 소각로에서의 쓰레기, 배 기가스 그리고 로벽에서의 온도 분포를 예측할 수 있다.

  • A theoretical model was developed for rotary kiln and computational study was conducted to find the effect of feeding characteristics. One dimensional model with the variations of heating distribution, length of heating zone, excess air ratio and revolution was considered. The comparison of parallel-flow rotary kiln with that of counter-flow was conducted. For parallel-flow type, it is found that the variation of temperature of solid is not great for the zone that is following flame-heating zone. This zone is good to take the special treatment because thermal deviation is small and contacting time is enough for another treatment. Increase of excess air ratio have the effect of decreasing solid temperature. But this effect of decreasing solid temperature goes small for the great excess air ratio. The heating is efficient for the flame which has the maximum heating at the central region of the full length.
