For gas hydrate exploration, long offset multichannel seismic data acquired using by the 4km streamer length in Ulleung basin of the East Sea. The dataset was processed to define the BSRs (Bottom Simulating Reflectors) and to estimate the amount of gas hydrates. Confirmation of the presence of Bottom Simulating reflectors (BSR) and investigation of its physical properties from seismic section are important for gas hydrate detection. Specially, faster interval velocity overlying slower interval velocity indicates the likely presences of gas hydrate above BSR and free gas underneath BSR. In consequence, estimation of correct interval velocities and analysis of their spatial variations are critical processes for gas hydrate detection using seismic reflection data. Using Dix's equation, Root Mean Square (RMS) velocities can be converted into interval velocities. However, it is not a proper way to investigate interval velocities above and below BSR considering the fact that RMS velocities have poor resolution and correctness and the assumption that interval velocities increase along the depth. Therefore, we incorporated Migration Velocity Analysis (MVA) software produced by Landmark CO. to estimate correct interval velocities in detail. MVA is a process to yield velocities of sediments between layers using Common Mid Point (CMP) gathered seismic data. The CMP gathered data for MVA should be produced after basic processing steps to enhance the signal to noise ratio of the first reflections. Prestack depth migrated section is produced using interval velocities and interval velocities are key parameters governing qualities of prestack depth migration section. Correctness of interval velocities can be examined by the presence of Residual Move Out (RMO) on CMP gathered data. If there is no RMO, peaks of primary reflection events are flat in horizontal direction for all offsets of Common Reflection Point (CRP) gathers and it proves that prestack depth migration is done with correct velocity field. Used method in this study, Tomographic inversion needs two initial input data. One is the dataset obtained from the results of preprocessing by removing multiples and noise and stacked partially. The other is the depth domain velocity model build by smoothing and editing the interval velocity converted from RMS velocity. After the three times iteration of tomography inversion, Optimum interval velocity field can be fixed. The conclusion of this study as follow, the final Interval velocity around the BSR decreased to 1400 m/s from 2500 m/s abruptly. BSR is showed about 200m depth under the seabottom
By screening a cDNA library of auxin-treated mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) hypocotyls, we have isolated two full-length cDNA clones, pVR-ACS6 and pVR-ACS7, for 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) synthase, the rate-limiting enzyme in the ethylene biosynthetic pathway. While PVR-ACS6 corresponds to the previously identified PCR fragment pMBA1, pVR-ACS7 is a new cDNA clone. A comparison of deduced amino acid sequences among auxin-induced ACC synthases reveal that these enzymes share a high degree of homology (65-75%) to VR-ACS6 and VR-ACS7 polypeptides, but only about 50% to VR-ACS1 polypeptide. ACS6 and ACS7 are specifically induced by auxin, while ACS1 is induced by cycloheximide, and to lesser extent by excision and auxin treatment. Results from nuclear run-on transcription assay and RNA gel blot studies revealed that all three genes were transcriptionally active displaying unique patterns of induction by IAA and various hormones in etiolated hypocotyls. Particularly, 24-epibrassinolide (BR), an active brassinosteroid, specifically enhanced the expression of VR-ACS7 by distinct temporal induction mechanism compared to that of IAA. In addition, BR synergistically increased the IAA-induced VR-ACS6 and VR-ACS7 transcript levels, while it effectively abolished both the IAA- and kinetin-induced accumulation of VR-ACS1 mRNA. In light-grown plants, VR-ACS1 was induced by IAA in roots, whereas W-ACS6 in epicotyls. IAA- and BR-treatments were not able to increase the VR-ACS7 transcript in the light-grown tissues. These results indicate that the expression of ACC synthase multigene family is regulated by complex hormonal and developmental networks in a gene- and tissue-specific manner in mung bean plants. The VR-ACS7 gene was isolated, and chimeric fusion between the 2.4 kb 5'-upstream region and the $\beta$-glucuronidase (GUS) reporter gene was constructed and introduced into Nicotiana tobacum. Analysis of transgenic tobacco plants revealed the VR-ACS7 promoter-driven GUS activity at a highly localized region of the hypocotyl-root junction of control seedlings, while a marked induction of GUS activity was detected only in the hypocotyl region of the IAA-treated transgenic seedlings where rapid cell elongation occurs. Although there was a modest synergistic effect of BR on the IAA-induced GUS activity, BR alone failed to increase the GUS activity, suggesting that induction of VR-ACS7 occurs via separate signaling pathways in response to IAA and BR.

Purpose: We evaluated whether Cyberknife radiosurgery is an effective and safe method of therapy for medically intractable trigeminal neuralgia (TN). Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the outcome of 26 patients, who failed to surgery or were not suitable candidates for invasive intervention and were treated by Cyberknife radiosurgery between March 2004 and May 2005. Radiosurgery doses of $60{\sim}64 Gy$ were delivered to the 80% isodose line prescribed to an 6 mm length of the nerve, sparing the most proximal 3 mm away from the trigeminal nerve root entry zone (median dose: 64 Gy). Results: Follow-up period was $3{\sim}15$ months (median follow-up period: 9 months) Preliminary results from a cohort of 26 patients undergoing Cyberknife radiosurgery for TN showed that pain relief was achieved in 50% (13/26) of patients within the first 24 hrs after treatment. At last follow-up, 96.2% (25/26) of patients reported early pain relief within 7 days. Treatment failure developed in 2 of 26. Poor response occurred in one patient and relapse was observed in the other patient. 3 patients had hypoesthesia (11.5%), which was the only complication observed with any of our patients. Conclusion: With these results, authors assumed that Cyberknife radiosurgery for TN could be one of safe and effective therapeutic methods.
Competitive ability, allelopathy, made the common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia var. elatior ) one of the most dangerous weeds in Korea. The aim of this research was to evaluate the role of common ragweed as test species under laboratory bioassay and glasshouse conditions. Inhibition effect of the leaf extract was higher than that of stem and root parts extracts on germination and seedling growth of weeds. The 5% concentration of leaf extract of common ragweed inhibited the germination rate of Echinochloa crus-galli, Digitaria sanguinalis and Cyperus microiria by 68.3, 74.6 and 87.3%, respectively, as compared to the control. Generally, increasing incorporation concentration inhibited seedling growth of weeds. Incorporation of 5% common ragweed residue significantly reduced the plant length of E. crus-galli, D. sanguinalis and C. microiria by 48, 63 and 68%, respectively, as compared to the control. Also, the values of dry weight were 72, 78 and 71%, respectively. Contrarily, the emergence rate of soybean and corn was not affected by the incorporation of 5% concentration of common ragweed residue. However, the dry weight was inhibited by 37 and 28%, respectively. These results suggest that common ragweed had the ability to control some weed species using toxic compounds like natural herbicide.
Some rhizobacteria producing 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase can make plant to continue growth under the stress conditions through lowering the level of phytohormone, ethylene which inhibits the plant growth and accelerates plant aging. In this study, some rhizobacteria producing ACC deaminase have been isolated from the rhizosphere of plants grown at sand beaches, and identified as Escherichia hermannii m-2, Enterobacter asburiae m-4, Pseudomonas thivervalensis BD2-26 and Pseudomonas brassicacearum subsp. neoaurantiaca BD3-35 through sequencing of 16S rRNA genes. Strain BD3-35 showed the highest activity of ACC deaminase among the isolates, 20.26 ${\alpha}$-ketobutyrate ${\mu}M/mg$ protein/h. Strains BD3-35 and BD2-26 secreted a phytohormone cytokinin, and strains m-4 and m-2 could produce auxin and abscisic acid, respectively. When these bacteria were applied to the 7-day old tomato plant under drought stress for 7 days, strains BD3-35, m-2, and m-4 increased the length of tomato root by 14, 15, and 35%, respectively, and strains m-2, BD2-26 and BD3-35 increased the dry weight of tomato plant by 22, 33, and 68%, respectively compared to the uninoculated control tomatoes. Therefore, these rhizobacteria may be utilized as a microbial fertilizer for the plants under drought stress.
Growth and development of Limonium spp.‘Ocean Blue’plantlets were studied under three levels of photosynthetic photon flux (PPF),70,150 and 220 $\mu$mol. $m^{-2}$ . $s^{-1}$ , two levels of $CO_2$ concentration, 500 and 1000 $\mu$mol. $m^{-1}$ , and two levels of number of air exchanges per hour (NAEH),0.1 $h^{-1}$ and 2.8 $h^{-l}$. Explants were obtained from photomixotrophically-micropropagated plantlets. Four explants per vessel were cultured under cool-white fluorescent lamps for 16 h. $d^{-1}$ at 25$\pm$11$^{\circ}C$ and 70~80% relative humidity. In treatments of 2.8 $h^{-1}$ NAEH, a 10 mm round hole made on the vessel cap was sealed with a microporous filter and two $CO_2$ concentrations in the culture rooms were provided from a liquefied $CO_2$ tank. Fresh and dry weights, height, length of the longest root, number of loaves, and leaf area significantly increased with increasing PPF and especially, $CO_2$ concentration. Growth was enhanced by a 2.8 $h^{-1}$ NAEH. Overall, treatment with a 220 $\mu$mol. $m^{-2}$ . $s^{-1}$ PPF and a 1000 $\mu$mol. $m^{-1}$$CO_2$ resulted in the most vigorous growth of Limonium spp. ‘Ocean Blue’ plantlets.s.
$N(^{15}N)$ and $P(^{32}P)$ absorption by 2 year-old Cymbidium Jungfrau in solution culture were investigated. Growth, photosynthesis rate, chlorophyll content and mineral composition of Cymbidium in the solution culture with bark or granular rockwool were compared with these parameters in the conventional pot culture. Nitrogen absorption by Cymbidium was higher in full sunlight than in 60% of sunlight while P absorption was higher in 60% of sunlight. Sixty seven % of N absorbed in plant was redistributed to the bulb(39%) and leaves(28%) while 46% of P absorbed was fund in the bulb (36.2%) and leaves (10.2%). Accumulation of P in leaves was 3-fold lower than that of N. N and P absorption in 0.5 or 1 year- old daughter plant Bowing vigorously were greater than in immature daughter or mother plant. The absorption rate of phosphorus in Cymbidium was 350-fold lower than that of barley. Greater shoot length and bulb diameter, and higher fresh weight, photosynthesis rate and chloroployll content were observed in the solution culture than in the conventional pot culture. Solution culture had-also more content of N, P, K and Mg in leaves, bulb and root than conventional pot culture but did not that of Ca. A large part of the nutrient absorption was occurred during vegetative growth. Also, There was no difference between bark and rockwool in the solution culture due to the improvement of poor dispersion of nutrient solution in bark.
This study was conducted to produce high quality ginseng seedlings by improvement of the physical properties of nursery soil. In order to select optimum nursery conditions, nursery types were treated with the yangiik nursery and semi-yangiik nursery. Soil conditioners were treated with two different materials of puffed rice husks and perlite. This experiments were tested at Gyunggido Agricultural Research and Extention Services, Hwaseng, from 2003 to 2004. Soil permeability was better at the plot of yangiik nursery than that of semi-yangjik nursery, and was better at plot of puffed rice husks than that of perlite. Soil porosity was improved 2.2% at plot of yangjiik nursery compare at that of semi-yangjik nursery, and was improved 2.0% at plot of puffed rice husks compared to control. There was no difference in the number of ginseng plants per kan among treatments. Root length was longer at plot of yangjik nursery than that of semi-yangjik nursery. More available ginseng plants per kan were obtained from the plot of yangjik nursery by more 252 seedlings than that of semi-yangjik nursery, but there was no significant difference between soil conditioners. The number of available seedlings per kan produced from yangjik nursery was 21.7% higher than those produced by semi-yangjik nursery. The number of available seedlings per kan produced from plot of puffed rice husks was 16.3% higher than that of control.
Growth and physiological disorders caused by abnormally low temperatures were evaluated in pepper, an important field crop in Korea. In addition, the effects of chemical treatment using glutamine was verified on minimizing the damages by low temperature. The growth of pepper plants in stem length and diameter was suppressed as the temperature decreased from $25^{\circ}C$, and the suppression level was the highest for plants grown for 90 days at $20^{\circ}C$. However, root growth was not affected by the different temperatures. The number of leaf and leaf area decreased at the temperatures below $25^{\circ}C$, an optimum temperature for growth. Fresh weight and dry weight decreased for plants grown at $20^{\circ}C$. Pepper fruit yield also decreased by 11% at $20^{\circ}C$ in comparison to $25^{\circ}C$. Falling blossom rate was different depending on the growth temperature, and the rate was 27.2% at $25^{\circ}C$, 35.2% at $22.5^{\circ}C$, and 41.0% at $20^{\circ}C$, indicating that falling blossom rate increased as temperature decreased. Different growth temperatures did not affected on the level of symptom of calcium deficiency and Phytopathora blight. Falling blossom was severe at abnormally low temperature of $20^{\circ}C$, but the treatment of glutamine reduced falling blossom rate and increased the yield by 7.0% as compared to control. The optimum concentration of glutamine treatment was 10 mg/L for yields.

Objectives : Hemifacial spasm is painless uncommon disorder characterized by involuntary paroxysmal movement on one side of face. It is known that hemifacial spasm is mainly due to pulsatile compression by vessels at the root exit zone(REZ) of the facial nerve. Microvascular decompression at REZ of the facial nerve has become the standard treatment modality for hemifacial spasm. The authors have analized patients with hemifacial spasm treated with microvascular decompression to evaluate operation result and clinical course after operation. Patients and Methods : From 1992 to 1999, 41 patients with hemifacial spasm underwent this operation. Retrospective analysis of operation results and clinical recovery patterns was done. The length of observation had been more than 6 months in all cases. Results : The ratio of male to female was 1:1.4, and age at operation ranged from 24 to 66 years. Their mean age was 47.6 years and the mean preoperative duration of symptoms was 7.2 years. Most common offending vessels were AICA in 18 cases(48%) and second most common were PICA in 13 cases(31.7%). The rest of them were 3 case in vertebral artery, and 7 cases(13%) in multiple offending vessels. Patterns of improvement after surgery could be divided into 4 clinical types. There was complete recovery in 3 days after operation in 24 cases(58.6%, Immediate complete recovery). There was complete recovery in 3 days after operation, and symptom was recurred partially, which was gradually subsided in 2 weeks after operation in 4 cases(9.8%, Delayed complete recovery type I). There was partial recovery after operation and symptom was compretely disappeared gradually in 6 months after operation in 7 cases(17.1%, Delayed complete recovery type II). Finally, there was partial recovery after operation, and symptom was somewhat remained after 6 months later(14.5%, Delayed partial recovery). Conclusion : In conclusion, microvascular decompression for hemifacial spasm is a safe and reliable treatment modality with good results of improvement and there are 4 recovery patterns in clinical course after operation in our series. Therefore, follow-up observation after microvascular decompression is necessary to evaluate the operative results and complication, especially in the delayed resolved cases.
