The use of light weight magnesium alloy offers significant potential towards improvement of the automotive fuel efficiency. However, the application of formed magnesium alloy components in auto-body structures is restricted due to the low formability at room temperature and lack of knowledge for processing magnesium alloys at elevated temperatures. In this study, a warm tensile test of magnesium alloys was performed to measure tensile strength and elongation. An improvement in formability was confirmed at increased temperatures above about $250^{\circ}C$. Car body warm forming technology was conducted for forming forming reinforced dash components of the magnesium alloy AZ31B sheet at elevated temperatures.
To establish appropriate conditions for a disinfectant efficacy test at subzero temperatures, this study examined mixtures of frozen foot-and-mouth disease virus or avian influenza virus solutions and disinfectant diluents at $-5^{\circ}C$ and monitored temperature and freezing status of an anti-freezing diluent (AFD, 15% ethanol + 30% propylene glycol + 55% distilled water) over time at various subzero temperatures. Viral solutions and disinfectant diluents froze before the mixtures reached $-5^{\circ}C$, whereas the AFD was not frozen at $-30^{\circ}C$. The times taken for the AFD to reach -10, -20, -30, and $-40^{\circ}C$ from room temperature were 36, 39, 45, and 48 min, respectively.
The affect of surface temperatures of fruits on spectrum which measures actual sugar contents was observed. PLSR was applied to develop the sugar content evaluation system that was not affected by temperature. The reflected spectrum was used at the wavelengths of 654 and 1052nm with the separation distance of 2.5nm. To increase the conformance of a model using unknown samples, let the minimum value of PRESS be an optimum factor. 71 Shingo pears stored in a refrigerator were left in a room temperature for a while and these temperatures and reflected spectrums were measured. Reflected spectrums were measured at the wavelengths of 654 and 1052nm, 3 samples in one second. To measure these at different temperatures, the experiment was repeated hourly and four times. Starting temperatures of 2-3 were increased up to 17. The total number of measured spectrum was 284. To develop a sugar content evaluation system model using measured reflected spectrum, three groups of samples were considered. First group had 51 samples at 14 and second group had 141 samples with lower or higher temperatures than 14. Third group had 155 samples with well distributed temperatures. Other samples were used as validations to ensure the conformance. Measuring the sugar contents of samples with surface temperatures other than 14 were difficult with PLS model I, developed by using a sample temperature of 14. If the sugar contents were compensated using samples' temperatures, results of prediction would be close to the expected results and it would be one of the most important factors to develop this system. PLS models I and II could compensate the temperature but the precision would not come up to the standard. High precision was expected by using samples with wide ranges of temperatures and sugar contents. Both models showed the possibility of an improvement of a sugar content evaluation system disregarding the temperature. For practical use of a system, selecting samples should be done carefully to reduce the effect of the temperature.
The relationships between the microstructure changes, retained austenite volume and elevated temperature tensile properties of Mo-Ni-Cu ADI corresponding to various austempering temperatures and time were investigated, After the $250^{\circ}C$ tensile test for the test piece austempered at $270^{\circ}C$ the accicular bainite structure was observed blunted under room temperature microscope. In the case of $370^{\circ}C$ austempering, the feathery bainite lath spacing was observed broadened. But after the $450^{\circ}C$ tensile test, bainitic features could not be observed. As the testing temperature increased, retained austenite volume tested at room temperature decreased. Especially, after the $450^{\circ}C$ tensile test retained austenite volume approached nearly to zero. A little higher tensile properties appeared at $250^{\circ}C$ testing than those at room temperature.
The mechanical properties and optical micrographs are studied for rolled magnesium alloy sheet with hexagonal close packed structure(HCP) at room and elevated temperatures. Tensile properties such as tensile strength, elongation, R-value and n-value are also measured for AZ31 magnesium alloy. Magnesium with strong texture of basal plane parallel to the rolling direction usually has high R-value and plastic anisotropy at room temperature. As temperature increases, the R-value for AZ31 magnesium sheet decreases. In addition, the AZ31 sheet becomes isotropy and recrystallization above $200^{\circ}C$. Formability of magnesium alloy sheets remarkably poor at room temperature is improved by increasing temperature. Sheet forming of magnesium alloy is practically possible only at high temperature range where plastic anisotropy disappears.
In the Refrigeration and air conditioning industrial circles, refrigerator is demands a high degree of efficiency due to the Environmental Preservation Law. Many researchers are working on factors to improve the efficiency of the refrigerator In this paper, a study of the factors on the decrease of electric power consumption, several experiments are performed to improve the fluid flow in the refrigerator machine room. As a results, average temperatures of compressor and condenser are reduced 3.1$^{\circ}C$, 2.$0^{\circ}C$. The consuming electric power rate is reduced 0.7kWh/month.
This paper demonstrates room temperature chemical vapor deposition (RTCVD) for fabricating titania inverse opals. The colloidal crystals of monodisperse polymer latex spheres were used as a sacrificial template. Titania was deposited into the interstices between the colloidal spheres by altermate exposures to water and titanium tetrachloride (Ti$Cl_4$) vapors. The deposition was achieved under atmospheric pressure and at room temperature. Titania inverse opals were obtained by burning out the colloidal template at high temperatures. The filling fraction of titania was controlled by the number of deposition of Ti$Cl_4$ vapor. The morphology of inverse opals of titania were investigated. The optical reflection spectra revealed a photonic band gap and was used to estimate the refractive index of titania.
Ni(Fe)Al powders containing a homogeneous distribution of the in-situ formed AIN and $Al_2O_3$ dispersoids have been produced by mechanical alloying process in a controlled atmosphere using high energy attrition mill. The powders have been successfully consolidated by hot extrusion process. The phase information investigated by TEM and XRD analysis reveals that Fe can be soluble up to 20% to the NiAl phase ($\beta$) at room temperature after MA process. Subsequent thermomechanical treatment under specific condition has been tried to induce secondary recrystallization (SRx) to improve high temperature properties, however, the clear evidence of SRx was not obtained in this material. Mechanical properties in term of strength at room temperature as well as at high temperatures have been improved by the addition pf AIN, and the room temperature ductility has been shown to be improved after heat treatment, presumably due to the precipitation of second phase of $\alpha$ in this material.
In recent years, since the continuing increase in the capacity in personal computer such as the optimal performance, high quality and high resolution image, the computer system's components produce large amounts of heat during operation. This study analyzes and investigates the ability and efficiency of a cooling system inside a computer by means of central processing unit (CPU) and power supply cooling fan. This research was conducted to enhancement of efficiency of the cooling system inside the computer by making a structure which produces different air pressures in an air inflow tube. Consequently, when temperatures of the CPU and room inside computer were compared with a general personal computer, temperatures of the tested CPU, the room and the heat sink were as low as $5^{\circ}C$, $2.5^{\circ}C$ and $7^{\circ}C$ respectively. In addition to, revolution per minute (RPM) was shown as low as 250 after 1 hour operation. This research explored the possibility of enhancing the effective cooling of high-performance computer systems.
In this study, a mock powder room was installed with variable LED lighting environments in order to conduct the experiments. The experimental conditions include luminaire type, illuminance ratio, vertical illuminance and color temperatures. The evaluation methods used were the Semantic Differential Method and a subjective evaluation on activities through observation. The SD evaluation result factor analysis categorizes ideas into three factors: brightness, emotion, and glare. The vertical bracket or the combined luminaire (luminous panel+ Vertical bracket) has better brightness than luminous panel. A vertical illuminance of 500lx is not significantly difference as compared to 600lx, allowing 500lx to be considered standard. The emotional atmosphere is evaluated as being better at lower color temperature. The luminous panel is the best for reducing glare while the vertical bracket is the worst. The best conditions differ according to the illuminance ratio of the luminous panel and vertical bracket. In the subjective evaluation (satisfaction with lighting environment, suitability to activity) the combined luminaire and 4000K received the best evaluation.
