  • Government evaluate annually a performance of government's R&D(Research & Development) and decide a budget and progress. So, a performance target setting of R&D is very important at the planning, The basic performance target setting of railroad R&D is clear. However, a scientific and technological performance target setting of railroad R&D is very difficult and a reasonable level of it can not be judged. Therefore, this study will suggest a solution for a scientific and technological performance target setting of railroad R&D through regression analysis of successfully finished railroad R&D, after judging a reasonability of a scientific and technological performance through comparing railroad R&D with the other R&D.

  • Water running animals such as basilisk lizards have an advantage of high-speed movement and high power efficiency on water; so researchers in robotic fields have been interested in the water running locomotion. This paper presents prototype-design and experimental study on the fourand six-legged water running robot. Based on the previously proposed quadruped water running robot, we assemble a hexapedal water running robot. The legs of the water running robot are designed based on four-bar parallel link for repeated motion along to pre-defined path. Stability performance of the quadruped and hexapedal water running robot are investigated by experiments on rolling criterion. As a result, hexapedal robot performs better stability than quadruped robot. Based on the hexapedal robot design, we are planning to optimize the position of legs and operating frequency.

  • The collision-free flight planning method based on the extended collision map is proposed for cooperation of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a common 3-dimensional workspace. First, a UAV is modeled as a sphere, taking its 3-D motions such as rolling into consideration. We assume that after entering the common workspace, the UAVs move along their straight paths until they depart from the workspace, and that the priorities of the UAVs are determined in advance. According to the assumptions, the collision detection problem between two spheres in $R^3$ can be reduced into the collision detection problem between a circle and a line in $R^2$. For convenience' sake and safety, the collision regions are approximated by collision boxes. Using the collision boxes, the entrance times of the UAVs are scheduled for collision avoidance among the UAVs. By this way, all UAVs can move in the common workspace without collisions with one another. For verifying the effectiveness of the proposed flight planning method, the simulation with 12 UAVs is carried out.

  • Improve the rural views of the Government and the municipalities with the intention of rural landscape planning. However, rural scenery evaluation of landscape types and element categories, landscape scenes, such as the valuation of resources selected, form a coherent system and ecological point of view is not only a Visual perspective of evaluation, or evaluation is made. This study evaluates the rural landscape through the rural landscape for rurality is implemented can explain the image. Rural amenity 100 represented the rural landscape in rurality with photos of photos, and scenes, photos, location-based rural Vista rurality landscapes drawn components. Selected landscape photography scenic landscapes in the u.s. survey and image vocabularies through surveys is representative of the landscape in rurality of each Vista location-specific photos and images began extracted factors. As a result, the Distant view is a town and village in the rolling hills of the surrounding environment is an image behind the Vista Skyline, Farmland Rural village forests, Behind the hills, Individual housing roof, Housing arrangement, The number of household includes landscape components. Factor analysis 'openness', 'intimacy', 'activity', 'complexity', 'safety' was down to five factors, such as a description of the overall factors that force was 66.45 percent. Middle distance view is close to being out of town houses and village environment, an image in the skyline hills Vista, farmlands, village forests, rolling hills, behind the scenes of the housing component of the neck, the sperm will honor an individual factor analysis results are 'intimacy', 'safety', 'openness', 'specificity', 'complexity' five factors the whole description of the capacity factors compared to 67.24 percent. Close-range view is mainly in Vista village embraced the individual elements and an image of a harmonious location in the surroundings of the sperm, individual houses, fences, gates, courtyard, Garden, garage, agricultural facilities, including, but not limited to, factors assay but an 'intimacy', 'complexity', 'safety', 'activity', 'openness' five factors, such as a description of the overall factors that force was 65.29%. This research seeks to determine the extent to which rurality of rural landscape Vista by location attributes and elements and representative officer in photo selection and rurality to extract the image. To date, followed by a comprehensive study, which was presented through the readjustment could not overlook the Visual elements. The future rural development officer for the evaluation of rural landscape classification and quantitative and objective assessment will have to come up with ways to do.

  • Planning and construction of railway for high speed trains up to 400 km/h are recently driven in Korea. High speed train is one of the environment-friendly fastest mass transportation means but its noise generated by rolling, traction and aerodynamic mechanism can cause public complaints of residents nearby railways. To cost-effectively prevent the troublesome noise in a railway planning stage, the rational railway noise prediction method considering the characteristics of trains as well as railway structures should be required but it is difficult to find an authentic method for Korean high speed trains such as KTX and KTX-II. In this study, recent railway noise prediction methods developed by EU countries are introduced and discussed for consulting before setting the framework of our own railway noise prediction model emitted by Korean high speed trains over 250 km/h. Especially, the new Schall 03 model (2006) developed by Germany and IMAGINE model (2007) suggested by an EU framework research project are intensively reviewed. In addition, research items required for the development of our own model are suggested.

In this study, we propose a framework of our own railway noise prediction model emitted by Korean high speed trains over 250 km/h based on the recent research results carried out in EU countries. The model considers railway sound power level using several point sources distributed in heights as well as tracks, whose detail speed- and frequency-dependent emission characteristics of Korean high speed trains should be determined in near future by measurement or numerical analysis. The attenuation during propagation outdoors is calculated by the well-known ISO 9613-2 and auxiliary methods to consider undulated terrain and wind effect.

  • Steel industry is the most capital intensive and the largest energy consuming industry, which operate huge and complex facilities to supply various steel products as the primary materials to almost every manufacturing industry Major steel products are hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils, plates, and wires that are produced through molten iron making, molten steel making, casting, and rolling. Each process runs in batch between setups and the specifications or bach are different with each other High energy consuming and heavy material handling require careful synchronization or processes, as well. Considering the synchronization or processes, the lot planning and scheduling problem in the integrated steelmaking process rovers the roll grouping with given casts. the sequencing or rolls over time, and the machine assignment and time scheduling or charges and casts. The problem is investigated by dividing it into two cases whether single or parallel machines at the molten steel making and the continuous casting processes. Problem descriptions and solution approaches or each instance are introduced. To test their performance and conformity, implementation or the algorithms and numerical experiments are carried out with real world and constructed data sets.

  • Computer aided simulation is becoming an essential part in planning, design, and operation of railway systems. To determine the adequate performance and specification of railway system, it is necessary to calculate rolling stock's performance such as distance, speed, power etc when train's running. This paper presents result of train performance simulation using the program that developed in advance for Korea high speed train. To verify result of simulation, we have compared that with experiment data.

  • The geometric parameters between wheel and rail change wheel/rail contact geometry characteristics, and this influence dynamic behavior of rolling stock. So, the selections of optimum geometric parameters between wheel and rail is important for planning of railway system. In this study, we have analyzed the influence of geometric parameters like wheel flange-back distance, gage, and rail inclination on the equivalent conicity relating to dynamic behavior. The analyses show the following results. The widening of wheel flange-back distanc, the decrement of gage increase the equivalent conicity and the increment of rail inclination show the sharp change of the equivalent conicity.
