In WBAN environment, it is very important to achieve energy efficiency of master and nodes, At the same time, a master also plays an important role in collecting data from nodes and controlling the nodes. By maintaining a master properly, any kinds of situation can be handled. Therefore, low power MAC protocol between a master and a node is highly required appropriately. We propose an improved MAC protocol by simply changing the frame structure of WBAN system. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme attains a lot of saving of energy consumption of master and each node compared with IEEE 802.15.6 and conventional schemes.
This paper carries out the progressive collapse analysis of stainless steel composite beam-to-column joint sub-models and moment-resisting frames under column removal scenarios. The static flexural response of composite joint sub-models with damaged columns was initially explored via finite element methods, which was validated by independent experimental results and discussed in terms of moment-rotation relationships, plastic hinge behaviour and catenary actions. Simplified finite element methods were then proposed and applied to the frame analysis which aimed to elaborate the progressive collapse response at the frame level. Nonlinear static and dynamic analysis were employed to evaluate the dynamic increase factor (DIF) for stainless steel composite frames. The results suggest that the catenary action effect plays an important role in preventing the damaged structure from dramatic collapse. The beam-to-column joints could be critical components that influence the capacity of composite frames and dominate the determination of dynamic increase factor. The current design guidance is non-conservative to provide proper DIF for stainless steel composite frames, and thus new DIF curves are expected to be proposed.
Aerodynamic characteristics of Coleoptera species of Epilachna quadricollis and Allomyrina dichotoma are experimentally and numerically investigated. Using digital high speed camera and smoke wire technique, we visualized the continuous wing kinematics and the flight motion of free-flying coleoptera. The experimental visualization shows that the elytra flapped concurrently with the main wing both in the downstroke and upstroke motions. The wing motion of Epilachna quadricollis was captured and analyzed frame by frame to identify the kinematics of the wings and to implement it in the movement of a model wing (thin plate) in the simulation. The two-dimensional simulation of Epilachna quadricollis hovering flight was performed by assuming the wing cross section shape as a thin plate, even though most of insect's wings are made of curved corrugated membrane. The effect of Reynolds number are investigated by the simulation. Meanwhile, in order to investigate the role and effect of elytra, the flow visualization of Allomyrina dichotoma was carried on using smoke wire visualization technique. Here, we confirmed that the vortex generated by elytra due to its movement is strongly influence the vortex dynamic generated by hind wings.

Understand that forming urban images and improving urban identity play an important role in the competitiveness of cities with resident-participating villages, local governments began to focus on selection and management of physical components to form urban identity. Recently, when the quality of urban scenes is posed as a problem, urban beautification projects including urban environment reorganization and scenery management are being actively conducted in many cities. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the characteristics of cases of Japan, England, and USA in which the local governments conduct resident-participating villages to establish a frame of analysis, to classify the purposes, directions, contents and properties of projects, scenes, and formation of villages based on the established frame of analysis, to deduce suggestions from the view of urban scenes and formation of villages, and to present basic measures for developing projects with which local residents can form villages centered on urban scenes subjectively and autonomously in Korean local communities in the near future.
Acetylation of lysine residues within the aminoterminal domains of the core histones plays a critical role in chromatin assemhly as well as in regulation of gene expression. To study the biochemical function of histone acetylation, we have cloned a cDNA encoding the catalytic subunit of human histone acetyltransferase, Hat1. Analysis of the predicted amino acid sequence of human Hat1 revealed an open reading frame of 419 amino acids with a calculated molecular mass of 49.5 kDa and an isoelectric point of 5.5. The amino acid sequence of human Hat1 is homologous to those of known and putative Hat1 proteins from various species throughout the entire open reading frame. The recombinant human Hat1 protein expressed in bacteria possesses histone H4 acetyltransferase activity in vitro. Both RbAp46 and RbAp48, which participate in various processes of histone metabolism, enhance the histone acetyltransferase activity of the recombinant human Hat1, indicating that they are both able to functionally interact with the human Hat1 in vitro.

Biotechnology has strategic importance related to the development of start-up companies, industries and nations in the near future. Therefore, many countries have promoted and developed biotechnology. The United States has led the world in promoting biotechnology. American biotechnology policies are diverse, and thus no comprehensive systematic studies have been done on it. In our paper, we will discuss American biotechnology policy in detail. For effective analysis, we will rely on the concept of a national innovation system, which emphasizes the institutional settings of innovation actors and their interaction. This paper deals with the American national innovation system for biotechnology. We will analyze the role of major actors, academia, public research institutes, and venture companies and their interactions. The American biotechnological innovation system is composed of diverse actors and numerous start-up companies in the biotechnology industry. In addition, there are many diverse policy programs for promoting biotechnology. Because of country-specific frame conditions, every country has different institutional settings and policies for promoting biotechnology. Our paper will render meaningful implications for various countries. We also think that this paper will be of interest for international readers.

In this article, a new Aloha-based tag identification protocol is presented to improve the reading efficiency of the EPC C1 Gen2-based UHF RFID system. Collision detection (CD) plays a vital role in tag identification process which determines the efficiency of anti-collision protocols since most Aloha-based protocols optimize the incoming frame length based on the collisions in current frame. Existing CD methods are ineffective in identifying collision, resulting in a degradation of identification performance. Our proposed algorithm adopts an enhanced CD (ECD) scheme based on the EPC C1 Gen2 standard to optimize identification performance. The ECD method can realize timely and effective CD by detecting the pulse width of the randomly sent by tags. According to the ECD, the reader detects the slot distribution and predicts tag cardinality in every collision slot. The tags involved in each collision slot are identified by independently assigned sub-frames. A large number of numerical results show that the proposed solution is superior to other existing anti-collision protocols in various performance evaluation metrics.
Since the beginning of the twentieth century, the progressive and rapid spread of reinforced concrete (RC) has led to the adoption of mixed masonry-RC solutions, such as the confined masonry. However, together with structures conceived with a definite role for earthquake behaviour, the spreading of RC technology has caused the birth of mixed solutions inspired more by functional aspects than by structural ones, such as: internal masonry walls replaced by RC frames, RC walls inserted to build staircases or raising made from RC frames. Usually, since these interventions rise from a spontaneous build-up, any capacity design or ductility concepts are neglected being designed only to bear vertical loads: thus, the vulnerability assessment of this class becomes crucial. To investigate the non-linear seismic response of these structures, suitable models and effective numerical tools are needed. Among the various modelling approaches proposed in the literature and codes, the authors focus their attention on the equivalent frame model. After a brief description of the adopted model and its numerical validation, the authors aim to point out some specific peculiarities of the seismic response of mixed masonry-RC structures and their repercussions on safety verification procedures (referring in particular way to the non-linear static ones). In particular, the results of non-linear static analyses performed parametrically to various configurations representative of different interventions are discussed.

Open reading frame 35 (bm35) of the Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) is a special gene whose homologues are only found in some group-I nucleopolyhedroviruses, suggesting that bm35 plays a specific role in the viral life cycle. This paper described the characterization of BmNPV bm35. Computerassisted sequence analysis shows that a putative RING finger motif is observed in the protein, Bm35 encoded by bm35. The coding sequence of bm35 was amplified and subcloned into the vector pET30a(+) and the $(His)_6$-tagged fusion protein His-Bm35 was expressed in the Escherichia coli BL21 (DE3) LysS cells. The bm35 transcript and Bm35 protein were detected in BmNPV-infected BmN cells at 12~48 h post infection (p.i.) by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis using the polyclonal antibody generated by immunizing a rabbit with purified $(His)_6$-tagged Bm35, suggesting that bm35 is synthesized in the late stage of BmNPV infection cycle. Bm35 was not a structural component associated with budded virus (BV) and occlusion derived virus (ODV). These data indicated that bm35 is a functional gene in the BmNPV life cycle.

The history of excavator design is not long enough which still causes most of the design considerations to be focused on static analysis or simple functional improvement based on static analysis. However, the real forces experiencing on each component of excavator are highly transient and impulsive. Therefore, the prediction and the evaluation of the movement of the excavator by dynamic load in the early design stage through the dynamic transient analysis of the excavator and ensuring of design technique plays an importance role to reduce development-cost, shorten product-deliver, decrease vehicle-weight and optimize the system design. In this paper, Commercial software DADS and ANSYS help to develop the track model of the crawler type excavator, and to evaluate the performance and the dynamic characteristics of excavator with various simulations. For that reason, the track of crawler type excavator is modelled with DADS Track Vehicle Superelement, and the reaction forces on the track rollers were predicted through the driving simulation. Also, the upper frame and cabin vibration characteristics, at the low RPM idle state, were evaluated with engine rigid body modelling. And flexibility body effects were considered to determine the more accurate joint reaction forces and accelerations under the upper frame swing motion.
