In order to understand information system post-adoption phenomena, the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) was proposed. Past studies based on the ECM focus on a referent centered on the target IS being studied. The effect of this reference, captured through confirmation, has been strongly shown. However, the saliency of two additional reference effects, captured through self-image congruity and regret, has not been explored. In order to fill this knowledge gap, this paper attempts to develop a research model that extends the ECM by incorporating self-image congruity and regret as well as perceived enjoyment. For this extension, we synthesize the extant literature on continued IS use, self-image congruity, and regret. The analysis results tell us that self-image congruity plays a key role in forming two post-adoption beliefs, perceived usefulness and perceived enjoyment. It is also found that the absolute effect of regret on continuance intention is larger than those of other antecedents identified in IS. Overall, this study preliminarily confirms the saliency of self-image congruity and regret in post-adoption phenomena. Our study results is likely to help the IS community systematically address unexplored effects of self-image congruity and regret.
This study aims to investigate how adolescents' expectation of their future according to their self-esteem and perceived social support from parents, teachers, and peers. The study surveyed 611 adolescents, who live in Jeju. The data was analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and step-wise Regression analysis. The main results of the study were as follows. First, the adolescents generally had a positive perception of their future. Second, there were significant differences in their perceptions of expectancy for the future according to school grade, leadership experience in school, experience with voluntary activities, educational background of the father, educational background of the mother, level of living, self-esteem, parent support, teacher support, and peer support. The parents with a higher educational background tended to have a professional career, have high expectation for their children, serve as role models for their children, and have a high level of positive perceptions of the future. Finally, the variables which affect the adolescents' expectancy for future were examined hierarchically by a step-wise regression analysis. As a result, in general, level of living, self-esteem, and social support were the most important variables, and self-esteem and parent support have the greatest impact on their perceptions of expectancy for the future.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relative effect of individual-, parents-, and game-related variables on game addiction. Totally, 1065 10 to 18-year-olds participated and completed questionnaires. Male students had more tendency to game addition than female students. No difference in the level of addiction, however, was appeared among elementary, junior-high, and high school groups, which means that many young children are already Same-addicted. More severely addicted children and adolescents showed higher level of impulsivity, more difficulties in communication with their parents, and more expectation of psychological gratification and interpersonal relationship through the internet games. The relative effects of these independent variables to game addiction were different among gender*school groups. Firstly, impulsivity was significant only in boys of elementary group. Secondly, for the junior-high group, communication with father and mother was important to boys and girls, repectively. Lastly, expected gratification from gaming itself mainly predicted high school students' game addiction, irrespective of gender. The findings of this study suggest that earlier intervention to young garners should be carried out. It is also indicated that parents' and teachers' role for guidance of the internet games would be different with children's gender and developmental stages.

The role of jurisprudence is examined in the early history of probability and statistics. From the mid-17th to the early 18th century, Christiaan Huygens and Jacob Bernoulli used mathematical expectation to solve the problems that originated from games of chance. We demonstrate that their concept of expectation as a fair price for participating in a game came from the legal concept of 'fair trade'. In addition, we consider that the probability that Bernoulli defined in his Ars Conjectandi originated from the legal concept of 'degree of certainty'. After considering some contributions of Laplace and Poisson, we examined the history of census and statistical survey in the early 19th century. Contrary to the history of the 17th and 18th century, statistics influenced society and law in the 19th century.
Online financial technology products are an important consumer finance innovation. While a large body of previous research has focused on initial adoption and consumer willingness to use these products, little research explores the continued use of these products beyond the initial adoption phase. In particular, special attention should be paid to how users' trust and perceptions of privacy and security affect continued use behavior. This paper integrates the expectation confirmation model of information system continuance (ECM-ISC), the information system success model (ISSM) and the security and trust literatures to investigate continued use of online financial technology. To test the research model, we collected 398 valid questionnaires from Ant Credit Pay users. The research results show that system and service quality positively impact users' expectation confirmation, while information quality has no significant impact. Expectation confirmation and perceived usefulness positively affect user satisfaction. Moreover, the user's perception of privacy and security plays a vital role in user satisfaction. Satisfaction and perceived trust jointly promote users' continuance behaviors. Findings of this study indicates the importance of the information system success factors and security factors due to their influence on the continued use of Fintech products. This conclusion has implications for enterprises in improving the product qualities and enhancing the degree of security to meet user needs.
Purpose The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the factors that influence users' continuous intention to use ChatGPT based on the Expectation Confirmation Model(ECM). Drawing from the literature, this study identifies anthropomorphism and trust as key characteristics of generative AI and ChatGPT. Design/methodology/approach The research model was developed based on ECM and literature research to investigate the impacts of anthropomorphism and trust on continuous intention of using ChatGPT. In order to test the hypothese, a total of 193 questionnaires were collected and analyzed for the structural equation modeling with SmartPLS 4.0. Findings The study's findings show that all proposed hypotheses were supported, suggesting that the ECM is a valid framework for examining continuous intention of using ChatGPT. Moreover, the study stressed the crucial role of anthropomorphism in the model, showing the positive impact on expectation confirmation, perceived usefulness, and trust in ChatGPT. Also, trust positively affects perceived usefulness. These findings provide valuable insights for enhancing user satisfaction and continuous usage intention, serving as a foundation for development strategies for ChatGPT and similar AI-based systems.
This study is designed to examine the effects of information source effects of the word mouth have on the formed expectations for the private institution and to explore the formed expectations' effects on the actual sales of the educational service. Moreover, its purpose is in analyzing what medication effects the pre-conceived expectation has on selecting the educational service. After testing hypothesis, the results showed that the source effects of the information from word of mouth had a significant effect on the expectation factors, in terms of expertise, similarity, likability and familiarity expectation factors. However, it was found that effect was not significant for the truthfulness. The significant result was found on the expectation factors before visiting the private institution on selecting educational service, indicating a positive effect. As for the influence of source of the word of mouth information on selecting educational service, the results from the mediation effects of the expectation factors on selecting the educational service showed that for expectation factors, expertise had the partial mediation effect, truthfulness, perfect mediating effect, similarity, partial mediation effect, likability, perfect mediating effect, and familiarity, perfect mediating effect. A test of the mediating role of attribute expectations in the influence of WOM message source attributes on educational services choices showed the following: 1) It was proven that attribute expectations played a partial mediating role in the influence of expertise and similarity, respectively, on educational services choices. 2) On the influence of trustworthiness, likability, and familiarity on educational services choices, respectively, attribute expectations had a full mediation effect. This research differs from the previous ones, which focused only on consumer satisfaction with educational services offered by private educational institutions in that it covers not only the influences of both WOM source attributes and key component factors of educational services on both educational services choices and satisfaction with such services but also the influence of WOM source attributes on attribute expectations prior to the first visit to a particular private educational institutions, and in turn the influence of such attribute expectations on educational services choices. Most particularly, the significance of this study lies in the fact that in an effort to more clearly explain the causal relationship between WOM source effects and educational services choices a test of the mediating role of attribute expectations was conducted. Although the research seems simple, some theoretical implications can be drawn as follows: WOM message source effects on educational services choices were positive and moreover these positive impacts are likely to be reinforced by means of the mediating variable of attribute expectations.

This study examines the effects of children's play activities through forest experience on their parents' expectation and multiple intelligence improvement. To achieve this, an empirical survey was conducted by applying a structural equation model to 152 parents with children. As a result, first, physical and cognitive factors were adopted, and social factors were rejected in the factors that influence the physical, social, and cognitive factors of children's forest experience play activities on parents' expectation of children's safety activities and concern about fine dust. Second, their physical, social and cognitive factors affected their sociality among sub-factors of multiple intelligence improvement. Their social and cognitive spontaneities significantly affected their sensitivity and creativity improvements. Third, parents' expectation did not appear to play a significant mediating role in the effect of play activity through forest experience on multiple intelligence improvement. This study has confirmed that their physical and cognitive factors of play activities through forest experience are directly affected by their parents' concern about fine dust and expectation of their safe activities, and has suggested that their sociality can be thoroughly learned through various educational programs in daycare centers, which is somewhat far from their parents' expectation of their play activities through forest experience.
Objective: This study aims to examine the level of parental perceptions and practices on parental role responsibilities for children enrolled in preschools and to verify the differences. Methods: A total of 301 parents whose children were attending preschools participated in this study. The collected data were analyzed for frequency, factor analysis, and reliability. In addition, the t-test and the Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) were performed. Results: First, there are relatively high levels of perception and practices of parental role responsibilities. Second, parental perception of parental role responsibilities is higher than the level of actual performance. Third, although parents were highly aware of their role responsibilities, there is a great expectation of the role of preschools for the development of the social competence of children. Fourth, parents value the level of practice of role responsibilities in preschools relatively high. Conclusion/Implications: Support systems are needed to reduce the gap between parental perception and practice of their role responsibilities for children enrolled in preschools.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore nurses' experience of the role adaptation process and barriers in long-term care (LTC) facilities including nursing homes, daycare centers, and home visit nursing centers. Methods: After in-depth interviews with 13 nurses who were working at the LTC facilities in G province, the data were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological methodology. Results: 17 themes with 6 theme clusters, and 2 categories emerged: nursing role adaptation process in the LTC (role expectation and readiness, role perception and performance, limits of role performance), and barriers to nursing role adaptation in the LTC facility (organizational, situational, and institutional-environmental barriers). Conclusion: The results showed that it is critical to establish the nurses' role in caring for the health of the elderly and maintaining the quality of care in the LTC facilities. In response to the growing demand for quality care in the LTC facilities, more institutional and environmental changes are needed to address the current barriers that prevent nurses from performing their appropriate roles.
